Love a drop shot. Caught a few this week on that setup. You can use a variety of hooks from a #2 mosquito light that I usually use. You can use a worm hook, and even an ewg hook. Start with a longer leader, and make adjustments to that length depending on how deep the fish are in the water column. Thanks BFV

Vince, I take 2 setups bank fishing and the drop shot is always tied on one of them. Caught my PB last week on the drop shot? If all else fails, it's the drop shot and then the Ned Rig. I usually don't get skunked.
@timmontano8792Ай бұрын
I must be the only one fishing a drop-shot rig using a weedless Ned-Rig in place of the traditional drop-shot sinker. The traditional drop-shot rig works well for me but, I've found that by using the same type of soft-plastic bait on my drop-shot hook and my Ned-rig weedless hook it doubles my chances of getting bit.

I’m glad to hear that it’s catching you fish. I never tried this. I still get snagged at times when fishing weedless Texas rigs so I honestly never thought about trying a weedless ned rig for a dropshot weight because I feel like Ima increase my chances of snagging

Great info Vince ! Question for you ..when using a paddle tail for the drop shot are you steady reeling it in like you would with it on a jig head or do you fish it with slow dragging pops like you would a worm ?
@robertbrost7777Ай бұрын
I drag it very slowly. Just fast enough to make it look like it's swimming horizontally. The initial fall is the big thing, it gets their interest. Then what you do next seals the deal most times.

@@robertbrost7777 great info , I need to try this , great job with the channel 🤙🏼
@BankFishVinceАй бұрын
Slowly dragging it. Sometimes I’ll mix it up and shake it in place and to see how the bass really want it for the day

What’s the determining factor(s) on hook to weight distance?
@BankFishVinceАй бұрын
It depends on how close you want your lure to the bottom. The more distance between the hook and the weight, the higher your bait will suspend in the water column. I typically do about 8-12” but you can go up to 18” or more if you really want your bait higher in the water column

What’s yo go-to knot
@robertbrost7777Ай бұрын
Use a Palomar knot on the hook. Feed it through the front of the hook so it positions the hook upward. Leave as much line that you want between the hook and weight, then run the tag end back through the front of the eye and tighten to make that hook really stand up horizontally. One tip, after tying the hook on, I like to pull the knot "wad" downward through the hook eye if possible. Now the knot sits below the eye and kind of props the hook up so it stays more horizontal in the water.

Palomar for the hook and a simple over hand knot for the dropshot weight
@WingoTribe704Ай бұрын
@@BankFishVince I’ve been using the clinch knot for 20 yrs lol never tried the palomar
@BankFishVinceАй бұрын
@WingoTribe704 when dropshot fishing bro that Palomar will help your hook point upwards for better hook sets in the top of the mouth. Its also twice as strong if not stronger
