Stop comparing Nicko McBrain With Simon Dawson

I'm a ex-pro drummer as in retired I am fed up of egos and comparisons. WHEBN are you all going to realize everyone plays so differently and that drumming is not and should never be a sport or competition. Both of these men are great drummers no question.

I second that friend. I was semi pro for 30 plus years now retired but it really pisses me off aswell. Every drummer is good in his or her own way and after all it’s what you prefer on a personal level 👍

@jeffsimon9594 I’m well aware of what’s what and I’m not trying to say that what I did was in anyway comparable to iron maiden was just saying it’s utterly pointless comparing every drummer is different and Simon Dawson will bring his own qualities to iron maiden I have no doubt. But after all it still comes down to personal preference 👍

I've certainly been fed up with the Clive v Nicko stuff for nearly as long as I've been into the band! It's inevitable the comparison junkies will have a field day once Simon is out on tour. I'm just looking forward to how they'll sound overall. I'm sure he'll slot in just fine and that's the important thing

Nicko actually has not left Maiden yet. He has just retired from touring. As for their playing style. You can’t compare any of them and I include Clive in this as well. I actually think Simon is somewhere between Clive and Nicko. But it will fun just listening to how Simon adds his spice to the music. But what I am looking forward to is seeing the drum kit, lol.

Blaze Bailey was wonderful. Different, but still awesome. Comparisons sometimes are distructive. I believe Simon will get the job done. We don't need a clone; we need someone with their own identity

Simon Dawson he is great can’t wait to see him & hear him play . it’s a shame nicko had to put his sticks down but less he didn’t die on stage now he can sit back & relax or just do some gardening that is always relaxing or teach the younger children how to play the drums . what ever it is injoy your life , one life live it .

A great replacement Old Father Time has caught up with Nicko and Nicko has said he couldn’t do any of the old songs without difficulty and he deserves his retirement has in Simon Dawson his playing on British Lion 🦁 is brilliant 🤩 and him and A’rry work brilliantly together and that’s what it all about at the end of the day and now maiden can play the old songs now without worry cheers Nicko you played brilliantly on the 1st and 2nd part of the Future Past Tour cheers for the memories and welcome to the Maiden Family Simon Dawson looking forward to your playing in Manchester next year

Dude Simon's style and even his is similar to Nicko's. So he's just a replacement
