Because rey is an unexperienced on everything. First fight of kylo vs rey, rey has learned absolutely nothing. So if kylo did not beat her it means than he is unexperienced too. Honestly a padawan of the clone wars can beat in a duel kylo and rey. Plus in star war it does not matter the midiclorian count I mean it matter but is noth like dragon ball the you must have a equivalent or superior midiclorian count for defeat your opponent. Midiclorian count can help but it does not matter if you are not trained and have disciplina and experience. So kylo shoul easy overkill rey even with the shot than receive by chewbacca. Remember than if you use the dark side pain just make you stronger. Cause the porpuse of the dark side is dodge the death. So even with this being said it does not make sense than kylo loses. Rey is a palpatine but what she has no train, no experience, has nothing. While kylo is a skywalker which than say a lot received train from luke skywalker most powerful jedi ever in the galaxy.

@Zer01nput Luke canonically had years of experience piloting a ship made by the same company who makes the X-Wing, the company made both ships with identical controls, hence him choosing the ship he actually had the ability to pilot. And even then he hardly outmaneuvered Vader, Vader spent most of the battle going after others, then when Luke actually got close to the exhaust port, Vader went after him, blasted him directly, with R2 even catching fire, and was about to destroy Luke before Han saved him. Luke went most of the battle with no one firing on him outside of automated defenses whenever he got too close, and the moment someone actually came to fire at him personally, they succeeded and nearly ended him then and there before outside interference saved Luke. Then Obi-Wan gave him some Force ghost guidance to help him properly fire the shot, which didn't even _need_ the Force, since other pilots were expected to make the shot without any skill in the Force. There was no dogfighting, there was just Luke flying side to side down a trench, like he did during his entire life in a canyon back on Tatooine, while he got hit and was about to die. And Anakin had spent much of his life attemtping to prepare to win a Podrace, meaning he has to have become familiar with piloting using different controls. He got dragged into the battlefield by the ships autopilot while he familarized himself with the controls, before R2 deactivated the autopilot. Then, once autopilot had been deactivated, he got blasted in no more than 2 minutes, which shot him into the Droid Control Ships hanger, at which point he attempted to defend himself from the approaching Droids and shot an integral part of the ship in the process. Meanwhile Rey literally had absolutely no experience with lightsabers, or _anything_ similar, only ever using her staff thing. And yet she managed to both directly overpower Kylo, the grandson of The Chosen One, in the Force, and match his attack. Kylo had been trained by a much more experienced Luke Skywalker _and_ Snoke, he had spent years honing his skill, and she defeated him completely. She somehow overwhelmed him in skill, physical power, _and_ power in the Force, before getting out completely unscathed. Both Luke and Anakin barely made it out of their respective situations, and they did it with damage to both their ships, Rey got out of that lightsaber "duel" with zero injuries and a total victory. It would've made more sense if that _wasn't_ Anakin's lightsaber, but rather a dual-bladed one, more closely resembling her staff. Then she would've had some experience to draw on like both Luke and Anakin did, instead she somehow gains the skill and power to match Kylo. Kylo should've bodied Rey as hard as he bodied Finn once he got serious. He should've decimated her nearly as completely as Vader decimated Luke in Empire. Both Luke and Anakin had legitimate reasons as to why they were able to do the things they did, and even with those past experiences to draw on, they still nearly failed. Rey had no reason, experience with the correct tool, or ability to accomplish what she did, and yet she did it with total success.
@sebastianfontanez1081
@sebastianfontanez1081 2 ай бұрын
@Zer01nput She runs from Kylo at the start, while blocking all of his attacks, and then when Kylo has her at the edge, she closes her eyes while Kylo watches her meditate for whatever reason, at which point she pushes him back and proceeds to completely destroy him in combat. I'm not misremembering anything, I literally rewatched the scene to make sure I wasn't wrong before even commenting. When Luke went up against Vader, someone with more experience than him, he lost, _badly._ And note, that during the Trench Run, the only person you see shoot at him is Vader, no one else actually goes for Luke, besides the automated defenses, they go for the other pilots until Luke is one of the few left alive. And Luke was about to be destroyed until he got saved by Han. He didn't go up against someone that had more power and skill in the Force than him, we saw that when he did, the Force couldn't save him. I don't think anyone would mind if Rey had _any_ actual experience to draw on that could match the skill Kylo's aupposed to have, instead she pulls mastery over the Force that surpasses Kylo's right out of her ass, she pulls skill with a lightsaber surpassing Kylo's out of her ass, and she pulls enough physical strength to completely overpower Kylo, who at that point is being flooded with pain which thanks to the Dark Side makes him stronger, you guessed it, right out of her ass. Luke and Anakin both did what they did thanks to previous experience, and we've seen multiple times that whenever either of them went up against someone with more skill or more power, they lost badly. When Rey does that exact same thing, she either wins, gets out of it with insignificant injuries at worst, or both. And mind you, if you have an outside source that gives a good explanation as to why Rey managed to overpower and outmatch Kylo, I'd love to hear it.

Lightsabers while NOT WEIGHTLESS are still pretty light, the heaviness as explained in the mandalorian comes from the mind of the wielder, in the time of the Clone wars jedi had a very strong force connection to their sabers, striking gracefully in unison with their saber, however later wielders would fight wildly with Harder, less calculated blows which made it seem heavier due to what's known as "fighting against the blade" however Luke did this in the ogt in his fights which were great meaning that's no excuse for the sequels fights to be bad.

Lightsabers really don't benefit much from being heavy. They're supposed to be able to melt anything through sheer contact, meaning that even a mild touch could be debilitating, causing 4th degree burns and much worse the longer your flesh touches the plasma. Making it almost too heavy/unwieldy makes it harder for the user to do all the quick bladework that they're supposed to be able to do with it. And besides, it's already been established that normal lightsabers can cut you cleanly in half through normal swing speed, so a claymore style lightsaber can do the same job but worse due to being harder to control.

Not to mention the fact he tracked and followed them with that injury, already fought Finn with that injury and took a glancing blow to the shoulder from Finn before fighting Rey. On top of that, he is clearly intrigued by Reys abilities and for most of the fight is just swinging at her to see what she can do. Idk, maybe if people actually paid attention to the scenes and asked why things happen in world instead of analysing production decisions they'd understand.

No, that wasn’t the point. You can do the same thing he did for longer periods. It’s just lazy choreography work. They just don’t care enough. The sequels were more drama “gasps” “boos” “ahhs” then actual story. Since Disney got on the ship it’s been moreso just shock factor and they aren’t actually putting any work into the writing and choreography. Yes, flashy lights and explosions make up for the people who have never watched Star Wars but all of the people who love the franchise understand that these movies simply are garbage. “Somehow, Palpatine returned!”

As you just read, it says "This fight took us 5 mins", a guy who is being payed and is suppoused to know what he's doing must do exactly this but for the time that is required in the script. You saw 7-10 sec of what is suppoused to look like, a fight can't be just two swords clashing forever, it needs action, needs variation, and needs a good pace, which is what this video is showing, in a brief amount of time.

This is fantasy choreography. It's also Star Wars. Rolling isn't realistic, but we're not trying to be realistic in this fight. We're trying to have an exciting fight that also still operates within the suspension of disbelief. There's nothing wrong with big spins, rolls, acrobiotics, and even reverse grip in a fantasy fight, but you have to build it so It has internal logic. And then you have to accept that it is fantasy and not realistic combat. So in this situation, the roll goes to show that this person is agile but maybe not skilled with a sword. It adds to the fight instead of detracting from it.

I think they tried to make the fighting look more real and that’s what happened. In the old movies the light sabers were used like traditional swords, because you didn’t need weight behind it to cut at all. It’s why all the spinning and swinging the swords around so much was so effective

Yeah, he doesn't seem to get that writing a slightly altered fight scene does not in an way prove the original was bad. That's an important piece that's been consistently missing. You can say it's bad all you want, but no actual evidence has been presented to support that assertion. I can claim that Hopper's "Nighthawks" is a bad painting, create my own similar one, and see plenty of people agree that it looks good, but that doesn't prove the original is in fact bad.
@danielhounshell2526
@danielhounshell2526 3 ай бұрын
Not really, you could charitably say that the first half of the fight goes for the same thing, even if it fails to properly depict a skill gap, since kylo's technique is just as bad as hers is. In fact you could argue that kylo, the more experienced fighter, is the one doing dumb reckless aggression. The second half of the fight is beyond ability to be charitable to. Kylo suddenly starts sucking at fighting for no apparent reason, completely drops his previous aggression, and proceeds to get swiftly overwhelmed by Rey's reckless dumb aggression. The fight is essentially just two characters recklessly hurling attacks at one another until one of them wins. There are a couple of decent exchanges in the fight, but a few decent exchanges aren't enough to save a bad fight scene, and the quality of the choreography for the sequels only goes down from here. I will say that the fight with Finn was actually somewhat good, and did properly communicate a skill gap, with Finn overcommitting on attacks and kylo taking advantage of his inexperience. That fight communicates things about the characters, the fight with Rey doesn't outside of her suddenly overwhelming Kylo out of nowhere because she connected with the force or something.

For me it made it seem like the fights had no real stakes and made it hard for me to take them seriously.
