Stop Destroying Our Armed Forces.
This is a message to David Cameron and all politicians that they should STOP cutting our Armed Forces.
Our Army will be at an all time low for over 200 years by 2020.
We are incapable of defending the Falklands Islands currently as we have no Aircraft Carriers and our Navy is small.
The Government would rather send Billions a year on Global Aid to countries in which that money funds terrorism (Syria) and gets spent on useless programmes like Ghana, Kenya, Nairobi and South African space programmes.

The defence budget has been a convenient pot to raid for governments over the last several decades. The armed forces were until recently the one area the British people could truly be proud of, but the forces are now passing that critical size below which they will no longer be able live up to our high expectations. UKIP will reverse this decline. UKIP will: Disband the Ministry of Defence in order to reform it as a streamlined ministry. Rebuild the defence procurement function, with direct involvement of Shadow Defence Ministers to encourage long-term decision-making. Protect or restore key items such as armour and maritime patrol. Ensure sufficient infantry, airborne and commando units are maintained to feed the Special Forces. Extend and develop reserve capabilities across all arms. The Territorial Army will offer places for those who do not wish to be deployed overseas, as well as those who do. An air national guard will be established. Retain two aircraft carriers and increase the number of major surface combat vessels, allowing the Royal Navy to fulfil a global role defending British interests. Urgently start a technical review of the Trident replacement, including the option of a new advanced stealthy cruise-type missile that can be delivered by land, sea or air. Extend, and honour, the military covenant to protect those injured in service, providing life-long access to support, be it medical, financial or otherwise.

Honoring the Military Covenant - We will resource fully our military assets and personnel. - UKIP will guarantee those who have served in the Armed Forces for a minimum of 12 years a job in the police force, prison service or border force - UKIP will change the points system for social housing to give priority to ex-service men and women and those returning from active service. - A Veterans Department will bring together all veterans services to ensure servicemen and women get the after-service care they deserve. - Veterans are to receive a Veterans’ Service Card to ensure they are fast tracked for mental health care and services, if needed. - All entitlements will be extended to servicemen recruited from overseas. - UKIP supports a National Service Medal for all those who have served in the armed forces

Army Policy The UKIP strategic concept of operations relieves the necessity of expensive standing armies. As UKIP would no longer involve the UK in military adventurism, a regular army of 100,000 supported by 3 well trained Territorial Divisions with a further divisional reserve would suffice for normal operations. A third full-time division will be maintained as an operational reserve based upon the Regular Reserve - that is recently retired service personnel who will be expected to maintain a small level of training - in the order of 2-4 weeks per year - in order that they could be formed into a fighting unit within 4-6 weeks in the event of a major unforeseen requirement. This obligation will extend for 3 years for personnel leaving the forces. UKIP will put out an in depth proposal on the training and logistical support of the reserves which will also include a proposal for a role in aid of the civil powers. The Territorial Army will be enlarged to offer two types of role. Deployable reserves will consist of the 3 divisions-equivalent mentioned above, with a strong bias towards logistical support. The TA will be actively run by a TA Major General. An additional division will be raised for Homeland Defence. This division will not be deployable overseas but will be to encourage those who would like to contribute to their country to do so with a lower level of commitment. It will particularly recruit in the less cohesive and affluent areas of the country to allow specific regional identities to be celebrated.

Royal Air Force Policy UKIP will ensure that the RAF is equipped for three main roles. The first role is the air defence of the United Kingdom. This will be delivered by use of Typhoon aircraft. Secondly, the RAF will support global operational commitments by use of Typhoon aircraft for land-based operations, and a future naval multi-role aircraft. These operations will be supported by the existing transport fleet, a re-introduced ASTOR-equivalent surveillance platform and permanent long-range maritime patrol capability. Thirdly the RAF will support the nuclear deterrent by use of an advanced nuclear cruise missile. The RAF will be able to defend the UK and overseas territories as well as supporting an offensive operation anywhere in the world, in isolation or with allies. The use of rented equipment, such as Air-to-Air Refuelling aircraft, is undesirable and will not be extended. The Royal Air Force reserves will be expanded, utilising a mix of current equipment and last generation equipment such as the Tornado. A trial will be run adopting a similar model to the successful US Air National Guard, with crews training together full time until the unit is declared ‘combat ready’, after which it will en-masse adopt reserve status. This trial will allow an informed decision to be made as to the value of this model.

Royal Navy Policy UKIP will ensure the fleet is able to support existing commitments including defence of the isles, drug patrols in the Caribbean, the gulf and the Falklands patrol, as well as supporting an offensive operation anywhere in the world, in isolation or with allies. To achieve this the fleet will need to include two carriers capable of fixed wing operations, and an additional 4 Daring class destroyers to provide defence for the two carrier groups along with other commitments. UKIP is unconvinced by the decision making process surrounding our carrier-based aircraft, and will urgently review the options, which may impact on the design of the carriers. Littoral operations capabilities will be enhanced, with a particular view to rapidly changing joint-service operations necessary in an unpredictable battle-space

+SilencedSemtex Hey mate , we have a Army you can fit in a football stadium ( league one) we have a navy that has less ships than Grimsby and a Air force of 35 fighters ready for action. No wonder Russia is testing our Defenses with there ships and planes. If we get any weaker in our country we may as well fucking invite them with a handshake as they invade.
