This is a tribute I made to the British Royal Marines Commandos, they have served us proud and never let us down. Per Mare, Per Terram.

I worked as a civilian alongside the Royals, I can't praise them enough, I have such high regard for all these hero's, they are awesome! Green human machines, men of steel, yet still have incredible sense of humour, no matter what they've been through, may they always be respected in the manner they justly deserve!

As a former guardsman I couldn't ask for anything better to serve alongside, these boys are the business, fearless and professional, best in the world full stop.

Words of an American Soldier about our Army .... "Those Brits are a strange old race, they show affection by abusing each other, will think nothing of casually stopping in the middle of a fire fight for there "brew up" and eat food that I wouldn't give to a dying dog! but fuck me, I would rather have one British squaddie on side than a entire battalion of spetznaz!!!... Why? Because the British are the only people in the world who when the chips are down and there seems like no hope left, instead of getting sentimental or hysterical, will strap on there pack, charge there rifle, light up a smoke and calmly and wryly grin "well are we going then you wanker??"

Great respect for them all. My son is RM; most people will never know what it takes to earn a green beret. Trained as elite units, given possibly the oldest kit, have to sit in line the NHS for general surgery, and are paid about the same as a bus driver! It infuriates me when I see people on the news already with higher salaries, and significantly lower to no risk, demanding pay increases because of their “stressful job”. Wake up and try what the Royals and other forces do for a living, and maybe then help support appropriate govt funding for them!!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart to the Royal Marines for keeping Me and all my family safe. They for less pay than they truely deserve get on with a their work soak it up and move on. To put a Green lid on makes them the best of the best. God bless you 1 and all.

Love your freedom? Thank a veteran... I love coming here to see the trolls with their stupid remarks and they don't realise that because of us vets they have the right to be stupid because of the freedoms granted them by the actions of others. There was a time in another country that had you said anything bad against the govt. in power, you could have very well been taken away in the dark of night never to be heard from again. But no, you have the option to criticize the govt, your elected officials and say your piece with out fear of recourse...You can worship in the church of your choice, you can have whom ever you want as friends, you can vote your conscience in free elections, you can do a lot of things.. and its because of those who were prepared to give up everything including their lives so that you have that right... to all the trolls who come and bash the military , be it British, Canadian, or American.. think about how you got that right to speak your mind....

Anybody who says that the British Army hasn't got hundreds of thousands of soldiers is speaking the truth but what they don't realise that just these men are worth 10 thousand of any other troop, English may not have the largest army in the world but you can be damn sure we are the best at training soldiers and that's what matters most not numbers but better trained and my god I hope I get in when I join, and thank you to all the veterans that have served in the Royal Marines and any other branch wether Navy or Airforce or just regular UK Army tht you for your service and god bless you
@MajorRoadAhead5 жыл бұрын
I served in the Royal Marines from 1961-1971 - joined as a Junior (No. 12 squad). In those days I am certain that there was a certain perception amongst the general public and your ex school mates, that you only opted for military service because you probably failed academically at school, so the only option for you was to apply to join the army, or one of the other services. There was very little respect, or knowledge of how challenging your training was, or that you were serving Queen and country. You had to spend long periods away from home etc. I'm pleased to say that misconceived view has changed now that the general public has a much better knowledge of what our young people in uniform actually have to do to earn what is a salary that is far too low.

As an 'old fart' (I'm turned 61) the major thing that saddens me about stuff like this, is that so many of these young men (and women too, these days) have their lives cut short - or changed for ever - when they are at their very best, because of their desire for adventure. If only we could give these people the thrills they so obviously crave without risking their lives, I - for one - would be a happier man........

+willieisgreen If you are an independence seeker I ask you why? Why do you strive to break up the union that forged the greatest Empire the world has and will ever see. Why I ask you? The future does not look so bleak if we face it together. Scotsmen, Englishmen, Ullstermen and the Welsh alike. Under one banner, under one flag in one United Kingdom. We need you as much as you need us. In a time of international insecurity, Russia and China on the rise. We are better off as one United Kingdom of equals rather than two divided states, both worse off divided. As the saying goes: United we stand, divided we fall.
