I feel that this video had a good message, as I support eating whole foods above all else, but some of the science is overblown. For example, soy has many times more estrogen than chickpea, however the amount of estrogen in soy is already many times smaller than the natural amount of estrogen a male body produces naturally. Many of the chemicals named are in such low doses that they do not affect the body, and the tests on animals are completed with extremely high doses. However, the heavy metals found in these protein powders are a problem as they are deposited in fat and arent easily excreted.

Just to shed some light on things said in this video. Almost every food nowadays that we eat is processed in some way. From meats, to fruits, to genetically enhanced vegetables (one example, tomatoes to make them bigger and with a more vibrant red colour, to look more fresh. Also, you can’t really know what kind of toxic shit the food provider is throwing on them, as is the case with protein powder, to make them grow faster, fuller etc.). While it is certainly preferable to get your protein from the less processed meat instead of protein powder, you don’t really know if the meat is of good quality, or under what conditions the animal had lived or what it had been fed before it arrived in your plate, no matter what assurances or meat quality certification the meat provider might give you. Which does matter a lot because whatever gets into the animal’s system, is getting in you after you consume it. Also, high meat diet has been linked to higher probability of colon cancer. Ideally, you need to eat meat no more than 3 days per week, while the rest you eat fruits, fish and vegetables. And lastly, one thing I keep hearing in med school, avoid non-pasteurised milk at all costs. Doing this, there is a strong likelihood to get brucellosis (among other dangerous things), which is a quite nasty infection found in cows, goats and other farm animals and their byproducts. If you are lactose intolerant, there are in fact many companies that make lactose free pasteurised milk, so I don’t know how you aren’t aware of this. Maybe in America there aren’t many companies like this but anyways. So in conclusion, if you don’t have a farm , which enables you to know what your animals eat, if they’re disease free, and you grow your own fruits and vegetables, then you really can’t be 100% sure what you’re eating.

wow, the lack of research that went into this is laughable. You're citing blogs and misinterpreting secondary sources and even the "sources" are just the website URL, not even the correct page. To top it all off you're ending the video promoting a product that has similar issues to protein powder and unsubstantiated claims.

Check out Paul Saladino who created the animal-based diet. He strongly encourages the use of pasture raised muscle meat, organ meat, raw dairy, raw honey, and fruit. Cut out the oxalates, and other plant defense chemicals that are found in vegetables and seed oils. Remember that these are big business industries that are heavily subsidized by the government.

Great video! Fitness Influencers will never speak against protein powders because most of the times they have their own supplement line OR they are promoting a brand for $$$$. Protein powders are highly processed and will never come closer to whole foods like eggs, meat, fish if we talk about nutritional value or benefits. People nowadays like an easy lifestyle and don't want to cook food that's definitely going to build muscle if they are training hard and sleeping well. Everybody wants a damn shortcut :)

There’s literally no other way to get 150g of protein a day other than either using 5$ worth of protein mix or spending 30$+ on any other option. So you can either get gains economically or by blowing up your food buget by 6x or just don’t work out.

I don‘t know about this video - sure the whey and soy ones are bad but the plant based are definitely not all bad - and the bioavailability is not bad if you combine it. Rice and pea combined has 104 so what I would appreciate for the future is to show healthy alternatives because protein powders have their right to exist - could keep a lot of muscle mass during sickness when I didn‘t have appetite and had my glutamine, pea and rice protein. So this video unfortunately gives me the feeling of a very preoccupied opinion. Sure the ingredients in some countries are bad but in Austria, Germany and Switzerland it is extremely strict with what you can put into supps and it is definitely not true for that region as such.
