I have been using solar for the last 6 years. Saving around 75 dollars a month. And I pay about 30 dollars a month, which means I net around 45 dollars a month (I am not from the USA. The thing we did is we went for community solar, and hence, due to economies of scale, everyone was able to save massively on the upfront installation cost. Also, I will request everyone to please look into the amount of subsidies being given to Oil and gas industry in nearly every western country. So, without those subsidies, the price of oil and gas will also skyrocket. So, compare the prices without subsidies to finally decide what's cheaper.
