Something I love about Hera's commentary is that he feels like the only major voice in the scene who speaks directly about the "theory" of aoe2. It reminds me of chess players discussing theory.

I think people click off once the game has ended but people need to listen to the advice at the end. Real solid advice and wrap up. Its amazing this stuff is free this day and age. No wonder the general "1000 elo" player today would crush the 1000 from 2019.

I'm truly appreciative of these tip videos. I have seen quite a few of your videos on how to survive pushes like this. I now no longer have the same sense of dread when I see a castle pop up next to my base. It turns our castles go down pretty easy if you don't panic.

Balance Andy here: Castle drop must be nerfed. Even if you argue it wouldn't be OP it is still to unlogical. Change HP of buildings under construction to (build percentage)^2. this way a 10%/30%/50%/70% built castle would only have 1%/9%/25%/49% hitpoints

The thing about castles is that it works the same, irrespective of elo. No micro necessary. Hence, a castle is stupid overpowered at low elo while being balanced at high elo.

keep in mind they collected 650 Stone to built that castle, when u are still behind in economy or did not see it coming due to not having the map control with military lead u did things wrong before the forward castle happened

Bro lost like 20 vils by sending Villagers into Castle range farms. I don't know if he actually put gather point to castle range or other farms but it was insane. Probably even more costly than the resource he spent on repairing.

Hera, i kinda disagree with you, when he was castle droped, instead of booming, i would do 3 things, 1. CD my base so i can be safe, 2. go counter attack to do damage 3. go to imp as fast as possible and start trebbing the castle, especially with the fact that he had a significant vil lead. In this game, since he had 2k food i would buy and rush down the castle or monastary and siege/university and go imp first. then only after i could afford all these 3 things then i would add tc's and boom. I recall one game when i reached castle age earlier than my opponent and i had 30+ more vils than him, but he still won because castle arrows and trebs OP, and if you try to make army and break his forward, he will just make counter units and camp the castle, while trebing your entire base, in my case i made many knights as a counter to chukonus but he simply added some pikes and my attack failed, rams also don't work. since i lost that game i have been thinking how i could have won. Correct me if im wrong but i think imp is the only good option, spreading out and booming should be your last effort to stay alive. It also depends on how much the castle is close to your base, is it on a hill or not, that determines the level of danger you're in.

Imp would take all money and nothing in return. Constant army and vill production is the key to win. There are rams available at castle 🏰
