My mum was raised knowing which fish was raised in a pan,sea or river in Jamaica. When she came to the UK, she would always astound the fishmongers when she took me with her to buy the fish. Some of the fishmongers would try to lie about where the fish came from and she ended up schooling them. She was no fool & her knowledge was amazing and we ate good tasting fish meals because of what she knew. She and this guy would have made a formidable team. Miss miss miss her so much 💯💎♥️

Wild salmon are sustainably managed here in Bristol Bay. Our fishery has an incredible track record of protecting the fish population. With wild life biologists on hand, the fisherman are told when to fish and when to stop fishing so the population is not depleted. :) Not all fisheries are sustainably managed, but if you are buying fish from Bristol Bay, rest assured we’re keeping a close 👁️ eye on the population as it is vital for year to year fishing and to support the Alaskan Native way of life.

From the cuntry with the best rated salmon, farm raised. The only difference between wild and farmed is that the wild one is leaner. Less fatty. There's no color difference, considering they already come in the entire range from bright red to white, depends on where they live. They eat poop no matter what. They swallow animals whole. Bowels has poop in it. They're LESS exposed to lice. Those lice comes from other wild animals. If they do get lice a good farm will was them with a sollution to make the lice fall off. No use of antibiotics for this particular parasite. Some also kill those lice and feeds them back to the fish. It's good protein

As a Bristol Bay resident who is partner to a commercial fisherman, I support this message. Here in the bay, there are hard working folks going to great lengths, and at great risk to themselves, to catch wild salmon. Unlike farmed fish, these wild salmon lived incredible lives prior to coming here to spawn. Unlike farmed fish, their ending is part of a beautiful journey and cycle of life that Native Alaskans have remained connected too since they set foot here. Buying wild caught Alaskan salmon is a meaningful way to support a fisherman’s way of life and a natural cycle!

I can definitely attest that wild caught has better quality, color and density than farmed. In my experience, a 4 oz piece of wild-caught is so much more filling than a 4-6 oz piece of farm raised (which, I believe, is also sometimes falsely marketed as wild-caught ... beware of the stuff from overseas).

If there are wrong practices, this does not mean that fish farming is wrong. From someone familiar with the fish farming industry in Saudi Arabia, live coral grows around the farming ponds and the surrounding environment is vibrant with life. The best medical examinations for fish show excellent results regarding the health of the flock and the quality of the meat. If there are high standards for the regulator and the merchant and then for the consumer, everyone becomes a beneficiary (the consumer’s pocket, the merchant’s profitability, and the environment in which they live).

The problem with non-farmed or wild fish is that it often comes with parasites, worms being the most visible if not buried too deep in the flesh.. So do you like your salmon with antibiotics or do you prefer it with worms?
