Hey stop with this terms of hypocrisy and everything. People eat meat because they like to eat it. And since they like to eat it there is a huge demand for meat. And so meat industry exists. And since meat industry exists they have means to eat it. It's mutually helping. But the core is still people who want to eat meat because if there is no demand, the meat industry will soon cease to exist. There will be interference from the meat industry when you try to make awareness to people to stop animal abuse which includes killing for meat. But given the ideal situation that there is no external resistance from the meat industry to your efforts, still people will not stop eating meat. Because like I said they like to eat it. They like it's taste. For them it's not even a matter of ethics or logic or anything let alone hypocrisy. They aren't even thinking about the ethical side of it. They just eat what they want. Part of learning is to understand than getting triggered . Im not vegan currently only vegetarian & limit my meant content for my dogs to very basic limit. I do say a heartfelt gratitude for the food (nonveg ) i buy for my dogs. But some time going fwd i will stop my milk & milk products consumption. It was only practiced by certain individuals who didn't want to consider life without their husband. It was a voluntary practice. For eg. How many widows in Mahabharat practiced Sati. Kunti spent most part of her life as a widow. There may have been handful of cases and some may have abused it but it was never part of our culture. Britishers wanted us to believe that they freed us from such practices. Child marriage became mainstream post Islamic invasion to protect our women. I wish we all learn our history as it is. Perhaps, you should take that journey similar to how you became animal activist, by questioning.

As a human species, we have evolved from premitive barbaric creatures, who had no religion, morals, ethics etc. Our ancestors were just like the animals amongst whom they lived and died. This happened for hundreds of thousands of years. During this time, our feelings, reasoning, intelligence slowly developed and probably a few thousand years ago, we became more civilized, started construction of houses, societies, etc. As we evoleved further, people bifurcated into two main groups, those eating animals, and those not eating animals but consuming eggs and milk because cattle saw that their safety lies by staying close to pack of animals that we now call humans. Back then, they revered the animals as their own and consumed what was available. But, in the last 200 years, as the industrial revolution began, humas saw a rapid unprecedented advancement in technology. The greed for more money, and availability of scientific resources meant that people could now make humans and animals commodities to make more money. Human slavery got attention and got abolished. It was just as rampant as animal exploitation is today. They were used as construction workers, paddling ships across the oceans, and what not. They were owned by people in power. Humans were sold and are still sold as objects. But because they're humans, the human societies condemn it. Animals however have no one to voice their anguish and suffering. Animal exploitation has just gotten bad to worse. So the concept of veganism though new, stems from people who wish no harm to other non human creatures, nor to humans. They want everyone to have their own free will and life without imposing their domination to hurt others. Its an evolution of human empathy. And gradually more people will get sensitive to animal suffering caused by humans. Had it not been for Raja Ram Mohan Roy, the practice of Sati, would have continued till today. Imagine the gory sight of women being burnt alive in the fire, because her husband died. How many million women had to endure this practice before it was abolished. Imagine the plight of those children and parents watching their mother or daughter being burnt alive while she was screaming in pain while the priest prayed. This too was culture. Don't hurt others, be it human or non human living creatures. You'll feel more at peace within yourself and so will the non humans.

Even if my actions alone don’t change everything, they represent my values and create a small ripple that can inspire others. If enough of us make these choices, we can change the world together, bit by bit.
