This feels like the chess I grew up playing, some time around 10~15 years ago 🤷 came back into chess lately and I feel like my playstyle is very different from those times... I missed my primary and junior high school times where I played chess against teachers and fellow chess enthusiast students (we didn't have any chess club lol) I was first introduced into chess by my housemaid 😆 and played for fun 🙈 nowadays I don't really see people who play fun chess :/ some top GMs like Ivanchuk, and Mamed still play beautiful chess sometimes though, which I appreciate! 😁😊

I'm new to chess. What is a romantic style? Like what does that mean?
@Trip_Fontaine2 жыл бұрын
@@itsmikko1798 Romanticism was a movement across all the arts in which basically emotion and imagination were valued over cold, hard logic. So Romantic chess is where you play the moves that show great imagination and evoke emotion and passion, rather than the moves that are necessarily the best as dictated by cold, hard logic.

Mamedyarov is like Jackson Pollock painting brilliant, abstract works of art: At first it doesn't seem like there's rhyme or reason, and the canvas is just an aimless conduit of random colors. But once everything starts to come together, you're just in awe of the gorgeous tastefullness of it all. And upon completion you're struck with amazement at the perfection of something so unique yet familiar, so complex yet simple, so convoluted yet appealing. These games truly are artistic masterpieces on a 64 square canvas. It's profound and delightful when chess is played so radiantly, creatively, and with such intellectual and colorfully concise vigor. It's so easy to be romantic about chess sometimes; just incredible. Thanks for the video, Antonio :)

Even though you say it EVERY TIME, 1.Nf3 is not the Reti Opening. 1.Nf3 is just a move. Richard Reti's opening is a positional gambit (1.Nf3,d5 2.c4..). Black is given the option to decline (2..e6), Slav (2..c6), Accept (2..dc4), or Advance (2..d4). What's 1.Nf3,Nc6 2.e4,e5 3.Bb5..? The Ruy Lopez. What's 1.Nf3,Nf6 2.c4,e6 3.d5,d5? QGD. How about 1.Nf3,c5 2.e4..? Sicilian Defense, or 1.Nf3,c5, 2.c4..English Opening. How about, one of my favorites, 1.Nf3,d5 2.b4..? Santasiere's Folly. There are several well-known books on the Reti Opening (1.Nf3,d5 2.c4..) theory, including: 'Winning With The Reti Opening'- Smith & Hall (1993), 'The Dynamic Reti'- Davies (2004), 'Starting Out: The Reti-McDonald (2010), and 'Easy Guide to the Reti Opening'- Dunnington (1998). There are other king's fianchetto and queen's fianchetto systems that begin with 1.Nf3. It's been bothering me for years. It's not really that important, so I never wrote anything. Plus, I didn't want to seem petty or negative, but you say it EVERY TIME. I know you care about accuracy, so I finally wrote something. I am a big fan and always will be. Thank you for your awesome, daily, videos, sir.
