If you have time just read it. For the conceptual clarity. If you are good with the keywords mentioned in the syllabus then you can go with the standard books. *I am also a beginner 🔰. I don't reccomend to follow me. But I have similar situation. Anyway I sorted it out to go with reading the ncert first - not for the cliche but to understand the basics. But always carry syllabus with you. Preparing for 2026.

@lipikahr Good question! I'll try to cover this in an upcoming video if possible. Meanwhile, you can refer to some excellent government and standard sources for these topics. For Society, focus on NCERT Sociology and track relevant issues through The Hindu. On YT look of Crash Course channel with this title -> What Is Sociology?: Crash Course Sociology #1 Governance and Social Justice can be well-covered using 2nd ARC Reports, PRS India, and updates from the Ministry of Social Justice. For International Relations, follow the Ministry of External Affairs website and Rajiv Sikri’s Challenge and Strategy OR any other material which resonates more with you. Disaster Management is best understood through NDMA guidelines and focused editions of Yojana. Internal Security requires regular updates from PIB, Ministry of Home Affairs reports, and reliable newspaper articles. For Agriculture, the Ministry of Agriculture reports and Kurukshetra are great resources. Lastly, Science and Tech can be mastered by following ISRO, DRDO, and PIB updates along with newspaper coverage. These references, combined with current affairs, will give you a strong foundation for tackling these critical Mains topics! Good luck !

Hi @apnightwing468 Read new NCERTs (6th-12th) for a strong foundation-they're simpler and updated, great for Prelims. For Mains, supplement with old NCERTs (RS Sharma, Satish Chandra, Bipan Chandra) or reference books like Spectrum to cover depth and analysis. Use both selectively for best results!
