I found two postal scales this summer at garage sales that I now use for weighing things. One was a high accuracy (gram accurate) low capacity scale for only $4. I have an older, smaller, cheaper scale. Before I sold my first item, I weighed an item then swung by the post office to compare with their scale to test it and found mine was accurate. I also just press the hold button before setting the box on so I can view the weight after taking it off. My point is, if you don't have a fancy scale yet, you can work with what you have.

It’s very important that when you fill out your claim form that you include photos of ALL the packing material. Stay on them as the claim will most likely be initially rejected Get ahold of an agent on the phone to determine what you’ll need to do to have them pay the claim. I’ve had several over the past year and every one was initially rejected (didn’t matter the carrier) but after a good fight they were all paid! Just some advice.

You talked about a buyer asking seller to hold shipment for X number of days. I sold several vintage auto show trophies and held items for the buyers several times. We communicated back and forth through the eBay messaging system. I did talk to a human at eBay who said as long as there is communications back and forth about this, the seller will not be dinged. The messaging is your proof of the request. This guy was a great buyer and bought several trophies over a several week period. (Thanks for your videos. They are a great help...and entertaining.)

Wild!

A good tip about listing specifics is that when you sell an item that's the same as one that's already been sold. When you click "sell one like this" it will auto-copy all the specific details so you don't have to input them.

I care about feedback if you don’t it doesn’t matter, but to get a higher percentage of feedback, I wrap everything in a tissue paper and a bow of a silk ribbon which probably only ends up being an ounce and I stick a card no envelope in there telling them thank youfor shopping in my Ebay store and I put their name on the card as well as my store name because I feel like that will encourage them to follow me which intern gives me a very high rate of positive 23 at 100%. I have a theory this differentiates me from Amazon I am a small business person, little old lady type and I believe it reduces their tendency to return items as if I am Amazon. I get very few returns, but I also say that I don’t accept returns however, when they ask me for one I usually let them.

@heather2000 as he mentioned in the video, when you try to weigh larger items that over hang the scale base, when the controls and display are on the unit, it's difficult to read the weight or even reach the buttons. Anytime I sell large lots of jewelry whether all pieces are wearable or not I still include may contain a few broken fragments. Only because of shipping. Unless you're going to individually bag each piece securely there's no way to guarantee all pieces will arrive intact. This will help minimize dissatisfied customers and returns. Id rather have my customer expecting a few broken pieces than to expect a completely perfect lot. People will still buy jewelry lots if the price is right and images are enticing.

If you’re not interested in returning the “lot” let me know what you think a fair refund would be and we can go from there. Most times the buyer answers that they just wanted to let me know and appreciated my apology. If they respond with an amount that is crazy, I would just tell them that the ratio of damaged items is 1% or whatever it was, and offer the associated dollar amount or feel free to return everything for a full refund.

Should I list as much as possible now, this making the eBay algorithm expect me to post that many items daily, or should I start at a slow and steady pace of maybe 5 items a day so that, when I've run through my stockpile, I can afford to source for the number of daily listings eBay expects from me? I'm currently listing 5 a day, but I'm not sure this is the best move, and I'm anxious to get momentum in my store. I'm not sure how much I inventory I've got, but I'd guess somewhere around 200-250 items. Thank you, and I apologize if this is a question you've answered before.

Sounds like this buyer is fishing for a partial refund. They are hoping you get nervous and offer some money back to avoid a return or negative feedback. Like I said in the video, I do not recommend you give partial refunds and force buyers to send items back for a refund if they are not happy. Additionally, this is why I suggest you offer refunds on eBay, because even if you do not offer them, buyers can still return your items, so you might as well get the benefits of offering them. Good luck!

I have a question, I have not found a pair of glasses to sell yet but... What do you mean by "frames only?" Are you popping the lenses out of the sunglasses if they're prescription and just selling them literally frames only? Or are you leaving the prescription lenses in and just mentioning in the title "frames only" Your pictures you show make it appear that you're leaving the prescription lenses inside the sunglasses. Thank you

I don't remove the lenses.

@UsernameOG0 hi there, I'm a vintage eyewear seller. You can sell them either way, but trust me, if you remove Rx lenses you will have a lot fewer buyer issues. People just don't read descriptions, even if you put it in the title in all caps you'll still have buyers who don't read it. It's nuts. Just my 2 cents♡

Early in my buying of inventory a woman said to me “there’s things that run, and things that work, know the difference “

Justin or anyone??? A buyer sent me a message on eBay that he will be returning a shirt he purchased because it’s too small. Make the story short, he never opened a return and I forgot about this message . I just thought he was going to open a return. I received the shirt in the mail and and he never did a return. Shirt looks fine but I’m not sure what do. Should I refund his money( that’s what I want to do.) but then there is no paper trail of the return. Help!!
@justinresells4 күн бұрын
You have the shirt back, so go ahead and refund. There will be a paper trail of the refund (without an actual return).

Where do you buy your boxes?

I use a local box supplier. Most major metro areas will have them.

I think you're really missing the boat on the nuances of a buyer reaching out and saying there is an issue where the remedy is a partial refund. First off you didn't cover the notion that if they send it back then you as the seller are literally eating the shipping cost both ways and that could easily be thick headed. So tell the buyer no to a 5 or $10 partial refund to settle the matter but definitely eat 8 to $10 each way for shipping? That would just be mad! We're dealing in a used merchandise and condition is subjective, I think it's really unfair for you to presume that a buyer is fishing for a partial refund as you call it, even within that context it's suggestive that the buyers trying to get something for nothing. No, in many cases they are trying to get something for something and that something is that they have a perspective that what they ordered isn't right and isn't up to the standards.

It's more a matter of personal preference I guess. Personally, I would rather lose out on a few extra bucks by having the item sent back than give unnecessary partial refunds with any sort of regularity. Like I said, 9 times out of 10 the buyers who complain and want money back for some "problem" don't actually open the return up and send it back. And those that do get a full refund, so they're covered, and I usually end up reselling it anyway so the financial impact to me is minimal. But you make good points, and there is no one right answer here. Thanks for sharing!

Since shipping is like gambling trying to get the best cost price that works, I will over charge to make sure it will work with the package. After shipping I will refund extra cost back to them. I only do this with heavy items that are hard to guess.

Why not just set to buy pays calculated shipping setting?
@jesseknowles72915 күн бұрын
Shipping shouldn’t be a gamble. The more you do it the better you’ll get. Also maybe try the eBay shipping calculator and just assume it’s going far away(ie: to Oregon if you’re in Florida)
@kylen64305 күн бұрын
@@donnamarkow2368 also, eBay calculates their fees based on sale price including shipping. By using your method, even if returning the extra, are you sure the eBay fee is changed to reflect that?
