I have purchased from other Poshmark closets and have received items not washed. I find it disgusting especially when the item smells dirty. I will not purchase from these sellers again. The standard for my Poshmark closet has always been to wash everything I list.

I feel attacked. 😂 That death pile comment really hit home. I'm struggling with listing consistently and OVERTHINKING seasons, clothing styles, what goes together, etc. I'm literally in my own way and just need to PROCESS it all!

I have a steamer in my dryer and steam them per batch of clothes while listing my other stuff. For really wrinkly shirts, I will use my hand-held steamer which does not take too long. I have so many clothes I'm listing that I learned the art of multi-tasking to avoid wasting time! In the end, I would rather get a positive review saying they were pleased with the cleanliness of their item. But you're right - we each have our individual preferences.

I rinse clean all washables including lingerie. I've been in thrift stores and the clothes fall to the floor. I've bought from the thrifts and the clothes look like they came out of a landfill. I go to Estate sales and people have touched everything. You never know who has grimey hands. I also shop rummage sales. Rebecca is full time, so her time is precious. I'm "hobby" part time so it's not a rush for me to list and sell. I go to consignments almost every week to move merchandise.

I knew everyone would be commenting about not washing items. 🤣🤣😂😂I think what viewers are missing is that you can list more and save time by NOT BUYING dirty items or problem items. I leave the items outside my home or in my building hallway if I am concerned about their cleanliness . I use a sanitizing spray like Odoban on most of my items and shoes .

With the cleaning, I think some of it may have to do with being paranoid about bedbugs and other infestations. I know people who quarantine everything in sealed bags until they either wash it or run it through the drier. I think having bedbugs is a life altering experience for some people so I get it. On that note I use dry cleaning kits for all the natural fibers like wool, silk, etc, because I don't want moths or carpet beetles. So many of these items you see in the thrift stores have insect damage and you can't really see the eggs as they're so small. I could probably just throw these in the dryer alone but I'm never sure if they will shrink or not. I don't wash every single item any more but I do wash everything I get from the goodwill bins as a lot of that stuff is filthy.
@walkinginhisgrace39110 ай бұрын
Nurse here who did years of home care. Some of patients had bedbugs so bad they were coming out of their noses and ears. Bedbugs would be falling off the ceiling. I would strip in my garage and bag my clothes everyday. When going to the bins. I wear gloves - medical vinyl gloves. When I take them off they are almost black. It’s not just bedbugs. It’s bodily fluids, staph, perch. If you look up what is on your bath towel after just 48 hrs ( they have medical studies on line, I think you would want to wash clothing and or steam for your own protection but also just providing that for good customer service practice. I am not at all judging Rebecca or anyone but my conscience can’t just send something out the door without it being laundered, steamed, and or sprayed down with Lysol. I know time is money but I want to be able to sleep at night knowing that I did everything to keep myself and home safe and also sending an item that won’t potentially cause someone to catch MRSA or anything elss.

@@walkinginhisgrace391I'm a nurse too and this is the reason I'll never do home health! When I worked in inpatient psych we sometimes had people come in with BBs although lice was more common. A few patients that lived in group homes had lice every single time they came inpatient. We would treat them and then they would come back with the lice again. Then when I worked on tele we would get people with scabies from some of the local nursing homes. I also had an older patient who came with delusional parasitosis because she had bed bugs years ago, she was convinced she still had them and was trying to show us all her stuff because she saw bugs on them but there was nothing there. So yeah I don't blame people for washing everything if they live in a city where these things are common, they're not cheap to get rid of either.

I disagree with #2 - cleaning clothes. I always clean and/or dry clean all clothing because when I'm in the thrift stores, people trample the clothes on the ground and customers touch clothing with dirty grimy hands. I understand your "time" factor because it is time consuming. But if I go to the consignment they want clean clothes, and I feel anyone buying from me should have clean clothes. I've had complaint(s) in the past that the clothing was not clean and it was returned.

I’ve ordered from some sellers that sent shrunken up clothes. Because it was multiple items from one seller, I assume they wash and dry them without thinking what it might do to the fabric. Now I ask for measurements. I once received something significantly smaller than the posted measurements. I was able to return it thankfully. Don’t know why the seller would wash it just before sending.

@RebeccaTheReseller10 ай бұрын
It totally depends yes, sizes can vary but you can choose what you do with the item. I do not sell them all on Poshmark some of them I take to a buy sell trade store… Often times I break even or even make a little bit of profit on those items… There are lots of ways to do this… I have a few videos on how I handle, bulk boxes and pallets, and how I sort to get the most profit💕

Rebecca, thanks for the info. I still do my own offers though I have Posher VA. Other than automating for a first like(10% offer), I go through a section of the alphabet each day and make offers. This lets me decide based on the item how low I want to go and also lets me decide whether to relist after 60 days. I do use Posher VA to help me delist/relist because you can select the items, unlike offers. I just don’t see a way to select items other than by NWT or how long it’s been listed when you do the bulk offers with Posher VA. Am I being stubborn?? Probably the time could be better spent, I don’t know.
@RebeccaTheReseller10 ай бұрын
Hello! Yes! Time is better spend then sending offers yourself. So what you can do is go into PosherVA and use the tools they give you to set criteria so your offers only go out the way you want. You can create an exclude list and you can even set to minimum earnings. There are many ways to customize it. Also, you can go through your prices and make things more uniform so you can send out offers more easily. For example if you have a Calvin Klein dress up for $30 then raise it to $50 now you can send up to 50% offers on it. If you make your pricing formula similar you can use the automation tools. I have a video on pricing formula that will help you.

I love your videos and advice always. I am not complaining or bashing what you are saying by any means; I had a sale where the buyer washed the item after they received it, and then changed her 5 star review to a 4 star review. This was funny to me because I had actually washed it first, but the stain came out after she washed it. Any flaws are always noted, and so I was very irritated after that lol. You can't please them all.

I’m actually surprised to see all the hate about not washing clothes before putting them up to sell. If you have something that’s actually dirty then of course you’re gonna wash it and Rebecca basically said the same thing. But to wash some thing that is not dirty is a complete waste of time because any reasonable buyerwith a brain will always wash the item themselves so what a waste of water, energy and time when it’s just gonna be turned around and re-washed right away

I do love to thrift though! I gotta find a better balance though. You've had good luck with helpsy? I have heard mixed reviews.

Yes, I have had good luck with Helsey overall… There have been a few here and there that I didn’t totally love… I did some videos about Helpsy Source specifically and how to pick a good box. I have also done videos about managing pallets and boxes and my sorting method that helps me get to profit the most quickly. I encourage you to check those out perhaps before you order… I think that you can totally pick a not so great box from Helpsy Source or any other supplier… So it’s really about making the best decisions for your business💕

I think she doesn't wash or steam most of her items because they are new. Most resellers source their own items. Its a must that i wash and steam because as a buyer also i would not be happy receiving anything less. I even steam the new ones if necessary which is i believe the reason i get great reviews. In other words she dont do thrift stores.( like she ssid)😊

Actualy having every thing scatterd. will give a better chance to increase sales. if someone is looking for shoes. they could come in go to shoes then leave. if items are scatterd. then people will have to scroll throught all yout items and see every thing not just shoes. Walmart does a similer tatic.. they will rearange items every 6months to a year. those that get familer to where every thing is. well when they rearage their store you woulld have to go down every isle. looking for an item that has been aranged to a new location.
