What buffer size is your sweet spot when composing?

For FL Studio, 2048😁

32, I want as least input delay as possible 😆

256 for super big trailer arrangements is enough with my power workstation. :D Mostly I use 64 for Vocal Tracking.

For FL users (I used to be an FL user for years myself) the best way to fix performance is to switch daws, very sadly. A CPU designer I know mentioned how FL basically reached its limits when it comes to performance as the mixer already received a performance boost of about 40% a couple of updates ago and it's still trash compared to other daws, pretty much unusable in large projects or projects with very resource demanding VSTS, if you do orchestral music this is basically every project. Now it's basically limited by the very old programming languange it was coded in (Delphi iirc). So don't expect a performance update anytime soon. If it's not working after trying some of the tips shown in the video consider switching daws entirely (I highly recommend Reaper)

thanks a lot! I am often CPU limited and will try experimenting with different Buffer Sizes in future projects!

Mine overloads constantly all of a sudden. I've tried changing the buffer size and deleting files to free up space on the computer (it worked in the past) and nothing works. Help!!!

Mine is still overloading even when I increase the buffer size..

one other tip: use Vienna ensemble pro. It does wonders for the cpu and ram. Reason: A DAW cannot do threading/cpu balancing correctly (it's one gigantic container of functions, that is in essence one gigantic proces to the cpu. Loading a plugin like kontakt into that, make the container bigger and bigger. ). By offloading it in a more specialized tool, that does optimizations, you can easly win cpu resources and ram. i see a 20% decrease in cpu usage, for the same amount of plugins loaded via VEP, vs inside the DAW. Note though: it doesn't work well, for everybody. Some reported issues with this. (but that is for DAWs the same: some people have issues with e.g. Cubase, while other don't)
