Great video and reminder to live life! I'm in my 50s. We all go thru this phase of feeling young n wanting to over achieve in our 20s n 30s. A couple of life lessons .. 1. Put diet, sleep, exercise, stress management and family bonds as top priority. 2. A life well lived is contributing to the well being of people around you. 3. It is OK to slow down n rethink n refocus. 4. Achievements n success takes consistent hard work n focus. Just put in the effort n be consistent n patient. 5. Listen to your mind n body for your own physical n mental well-being. Take care!

Thank you for this! I have a job, relationship, chronic illness/ medical problems, a small business and normal life responsibilities (obviously). It all takes so much out of me that sometimes it's hard to even sleep at night (which is my favorite thing to do lol). Not sure how or where to scale back or outsource , but 100% need to. It has become an exhausting balancing act 😶
@TikaGhafar9 ай бұрын
that's a lot to handle! completely makes sense that it's affecting your energy/sleep. i hope you recognise that you've been a superhuman trying to juggle it all, but i also hope you manage to outsource some of these things soon to regain some sanity haha. all the best to you!

I'm Asian as well, and while I agree with most of what you said - it is not possible for most of us to quit our jobs and do something that we like (even though we want to). The courage to do that is definitely influenced by how much wealth your family has hoarded over generations - the more the wealth, the more the freedom to make a choice. For most of us, we are bound to soulless jobs because we are in the trap of generational debt, and with so much inflation, it's just hard to pay that off while trying to build up a corpus to live a fruitful life.

I think its more balance. If the job is really horrible you should not make yourself suffer. But if you just dont like it but still have things that give you joy its fine

"I wish I had the courage to live a life true to myself, and not the life that others expect of me." Wow. That struck home. I feel like the creative apth that I initially set myself upon started molding itself into the trajectory that society expects of me. But at the same time, it's also my internal pressures that push me toward a harmful path, so it's been quite a journey to redirect myself toward a life that feels true to myself. Thank you for this video, I hope anyone else on this adventure of self-discovery finds peace and comfort in their reality one day.

from the The Top Five Regrets of the Dying book: 1. I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me. 2. I wish I hadn’t worked so hard. 3. I wish I’d had the courage to express my feelings. 4. I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends. 5. I wish that I had let myself be happier.

I can relate to you so much that it felt like you were describing me in the first few minutes of the video, hahah. Great content; I 100% love your tips. I love how you bring some freshness to this KZbin niche. On one end, you're not romanticizing everything like many KZbinrs do, and on the other, you're not trying to force an extreme mindset on people and feed them motivational quotes, leading to burnout. You're just living your life realistically and sharing what you've learned in a very honest, clean, and helpful way. No 'impact statements', no motivational speeches, just someone eager to live life to its fullest. I love it!

They're actually not judging you most of the time. Two main things happen, a genuine curiosity about your decision, and projection of their own fears. Most who feel they are being judged, still have work to do on the fawn spectrum. Productivity culture is based around: certainty, consistency, individuality. However life is constantly: uncertain, variable, and full of people I think why productivity often becomes more vanity than reality is because the first paradigm can't succeed, so vanity is all you get from it. While the second, it's much much harder to point at any one thing you did or feel in control, even though you may effortlessly succeed more.

i feel like i could finally release this tightness in my chest after hearing you talk about leaving your job without another immediately lined up. I’ve been working in a stable and easy job since college, but it leaves me feeling like a ghost most days. So this year I decided to not re-contract and quit. I have no plans of what to do after that, my job is location based so I’ll also be moving away from my work friends. Completely restarting in a sense. I have been scared and confused, but in my heart I just knew that this was time for me to leave, and hearing someone else go through a similar experience makes me feel a lot less afraid.

Enjoy exploring Sweden, I bet it will be quite different to other places you've been to! I'm from Finland which is quite similar to Sweden and I recently spent a month in Barcelona, it was very different even if they're both the EU and I thought more things would be similar as there's a lot of EU regulations. I recently bought my first home and it's quite old and there's some wallpaper I don't like. However, paying someone to get it off and paint it would be equal to one month of my salary(would take 4-5 months to pay off considering I do have expenses)... But luckily I don't really dislike DIY work so I will do it myself. Just a con of living in a highly equal country haha. My host in Barcelona was from China and he would never do anything by himself.

I realised a while back that your "off" time counts just as much as your actual work time. that time spent resting allows you to do your job better. so when I need to get something done in my off time I compare the price to get someone to do it vs what I would "earn" (for example per hour salary rate) in that same period. if it is less than I would "earn", I pay someone to do it.

I have some thought regarding this video. First of all, the first thing that really rang a Bell was the "optimizer" mindset. I think i brought myself in a position to call myself a optimizer and most recently i got the feel that i feel like i'm missing out or wasting time if i do things that don't stick to a bigger plan you might say, an bigger outcome/goal of any sort. It made me depressed because i felt the urge to do something that is "just a waste of time", and then i looked at my regular activities they all felt like work. I think its quite hard to balance between taking risk and leaving an surrounding that does not fit for you and getting your self in trouble. I guess its kind of a privilege to do that and not get hold up in fear and risk having a place to life, for example. Also i want to mention that to do simple tasks that you hate or you are not good at can also bring great learning and will make your life easier every time you do them. I don not think having someone to clean your flat is a bad thing, i was thinking about that myself for example, but i you outsource everything that does not fit, the space you might fit in tense to get tidier and it can hinder life. Although this was a great video, thank you for sharing. Especially the part about the optimizer i needed to hear. I hope you are doing great. Cheers

I know that you're probably just making the point at 7:23. But just in case, I thought that it would be worth telling my story: I'm coming to the end of a similar journey that you are beginning. I will try again, but for now I haven't succeeded in making it sustainable, but I did do a lot of cool stuff with this time. When I had conversations with friends and family, I saw excitement, envy, and curiosity, more than judgement. Although there was a little of that and concern from time to time. I hope that you make your journey sustainable. I'm definitely going to try again when the time is right.

Good video & agreed the mind creates stress for no reason & adds too many things to do lists. However, as long as one is run by one's mind, peace and happiness cannot be accomplished. The only way to joy & stable bliss is to step out of the "very mind that creates such protocols" including your new list here. Good luck & happy adventures

Buying services is a good idea. You can figure out how to DIY a lot of stuff, specially if you have degree in some sort of engineering. But if it's not your field, it's just not worth it. Think of it that way: if you earn $20/hour and you spend 5 hours to google how to DIY something and then $20 for buying what you need and then spend 2 hours on DIYing it then you have just spent $160 worth of your free time on that project. So if you compare it to that then buying service from professional for $80 is a clear win.

It's all well and good to live a life true to you. But it's worth noting, that you only have that option thanks to everyone else who does the things you don't want to. Society would collapse if everyone was so self focused. Not saying not to follow your heart, but I wouldn't shit on it too much, since it's kind of on all of their backs that you are able to make it to that place.
