I remember looking at strategies and having super high % returns but then when I’d test the strategy in replay mode the entries would not match up with the historic data. turns out it was because of this security call function this whole time and I didn’t know it. Great video man, super insightful and helpful for those of us trying to find the perfect strategy to automate. :)

I'm doing 100% of equity in a strategy and the drawdowns TV shows don't seem to make sense based on where they occur in time. ie the stock didn't drop that much or I was out of the trade. Guess I have to look deeper into the code.

Hi Michael, I am also an engineer and more specifically in energy efficiency control systems. I have been learning different ways of trading for quite some time now and one specific problem I have is that I am used to aiming for efficiencies of 95+ % and I compare the winrate with this metric. So I just don't get the feeling that I have designed a good strategy yet. From when do you consider the winrate good with a fixed RR of 2?

Yes, simply use it on more coins with the same parameters. Then draw your conclusions. Trend Following Strategies are trading less by design, so you have to apply them on more coins to truly test them.

You dont need to set comissions but you need to set proper slippage. You can trade Bitcoin CDFs with 0 comission but the spread sucks so you can set slippage on BTC to like 1000 ($10.00) and thats fine too.

Don't agree with this. You need to care about both, commissions and slippage, while usually commissions have a bigger impact than slippage (but it depends what you trade ofc).
