Hi Stuart -tip no. 3 was a revelation to me - it transformed my swing - and ball striking improved immediately- it feels strange lifting my leg on the backswing but as you say it puts the body in the correct position to make a full pivot. I can’t understand why I haven’t seen this tip before on You Tube and why I haven’t seen anybody do this on the tours - once the feeling is ingrained maybe it’s just not necessary to lift the leg? Do you know of any good players who show this movement? Maybe it’s just imperceptible to the eye at speed? Keep up the superb good golf coaching

I found the first tip on how to get the club into the left fingers of the left hand really helpful. Also really helpful was the drill on leg action. Thanks, Stu!

Another great video Stu. One thing that I am confused about is your view on ball position. I always thought that moving the ball back promoted a draw, as the club is approaching the ball more from the inside - I certainly see this when I move the ball back in my stance. Similarly, moving the ball forward tends to promote a slice for me. This is the opposite to what you are suggesting, hence my confusion.....
@GoodGolfCoaching
@GoodGolfCoaching 10 ай бұрын
The only ingredient that creates, bend left or bend right is the face to path relationship. Moving the ball back increases inside path but can creat more down strike and encourage and more open face. We are all different, but all thing being equal, a ball back would cause a push from straight push to push fade. How a golfer reacts to ball position is a variation of a golfers default swing. Simply suggesting a ball back for draw and ball forward for fade is romantic at best 😂 - hope that helps sir. Best wishes Stu.

My grandson has just started playing, he's 11 and he sent me this to ask for my opinion, i think it's excellent and easy to understand, the grip is a basic fundermental, never seen it explained this way before, good reminder to me to, incidentally I've always played with a slightly stronger grip

I think the easiest way for amateurs is to convert 90/10. And make it 10/90 ball versus target. Get the ball out of the equation

What am I doing wrong with Tip 1? When I do this with face up, I get an extremely closed club face at address. When I do the same process with the club horizontal and toe down, then the club squares up nicely at address. Please advise as to what I am doing incorrectly with the face up. I am an accomplished player, but I'll be darned if I can square up this new grip with club in face up position.
@GoodGolfCoaching
@GoodGolfCoaching 11 ай бұрын
It’s because you have played the game with a weak grip; the amount the ball is going left shows how much you roll the club face closed through strike. Practice cupping the left wrist through strike, this will make the club face square up. Tip 1 is the most important. Hope this helps
@StephenR-nf9wb
@StephenR-nf9wb 11 ай бұрын
Stuart, thanks for the quick response. I relooked at your Essential Grips video, which is what first excited me about trying this new, stronger left hand grip. In that video, you repeatedly place the left hand on the grip with the club in a Vertical position [whether the club was pointing in a clubhead up-to-the-sky position or the clubhead resting on the ground in the address position]. When I apply this new grip with the club in a Vertical position, I get the desired result [left wrist is properly cupped, pad is on top of the club and, most importantly, the club is properly aligned to the ball/target at address]. However, when I apply this new grip to the club when its in a Horizontal position, I continue to get a very closed clubface when I move the club to the address position. Very weird. One would think it shouldn't matter, but for me it apparently makes a significant difference. Still trying to figure out why...
@GoodGolfCoaching
@GoodGolfCoaching 11 ай бұрын
The intent is to simply get the pad of the left hand in top of the club, and the cup in the left wrist. If this is achieved, how you go about it, is not too important. Final destination is all that matters 😊 Hope that helps and thanks again for sharing! Best wishes Stu
