Hey Florida! I totally agree with you. I only bought Eagles for years and have since switched. About a year ago I got really lucky at a coin show and bought a tube for $520, other than that I’ve switched to gold and other coins. I’m actually heading to Detroit for a coin show right now and I’m buying a tube of kangaroos along with a quarter round Maple. Keep up the great videos

The Austrian Philharmonic is the coin I have the most of. I bought a tube of Britannia a while back and I have a few Silver Eagles. No Maple Leafs, yet. And I have a bunch of various rounds. I love the Buffalos. The Lacota Nation Bank is one of my favorites. I started by buy a few rounds at a time, but now I buy a tube or two at a time. I love silver ... and gold.

As always the Gator 🐊 stacker offers good analysis. Without a doubt the Best Value in Sovereign coins is the Britannia’s hands down! Canadian Maple 🍁 leafs is rght behind that with Buffalo 🦬 rounds a close 3rd. I also love and the Incuse Indian rounds which are very cool 😎 as they look exactly like the old Gold Incuse Indian coins from the 1800’s

Good info, thanks. Just wanted to point out that as far as I know, the US Mint is the only entity whose coins flip top to bottom. Private mints (rounds) and other countries all seem to rotate left to right to maintain the image right-side up. There may be some exceptions, but it's a good rule of thumb to follow when doing these videos. If it's not a US Treasury-minted coin, rotate on a horizontal axis to maintain that proper image every time. Happy stacking!

Great video. Agree, the premium on American Silver Eagles is out of control. Although I have some in the stack, for regular purchases I go with whichever has the lowest premium at the time I am buying ... and usually the 1 ounce Britannia, Canadian Maple Leaf, Philharmonics, Kangaroos or Krugerrands. Only buy silver rounds when they are on sale. Well, except for the occasional John Wick silver rounds. Had to get a few of those.

Great video! I agree with the strategy for the most part. I am so disappointed by the ASE II that I have actually stopped buying the Eagle completely. Add to that the rediculous premium and I may never buy one again. Unless one of the sovereign coins you showed are on sale, I now buy almost exclusively Sunshine Mint rounds. The decoder lens concept is awesome and I do have the lens. Hard to argue with great security and low cost! Not long ago I did pick up some Kangaroos on sale and I love them. I also have found some very good priced Britannia coins that I purchased also- so beautiful! Do you think the US Mint will ever go back to the classic Eagle? What a shame to abandon, rather than enhance this classic world coin! :-(

I like the Morgan replica rounds as my low premium. The Somalia Elephant are my favorite low premium coin because of the changing image and no Queen. For a mid premium coin I like the Koala, it’s less expensive than ASE, the image changes each year and 300,000 max mintage allows the premium to rise as they age.

This was a great overview, FS! I’m still hooked on doing a tube of Krugs each year since you turned me on to the simplicity of that coin in 2021. Maples, too, because I don’t have to use Air-Tites for them since there’s never the issue of milk-spotting. I’m half-way through finishing a tube of 2022 ASEs where I can find less of an outrageous premium. I never stacked when silver was below $20, so ignorance is bliss! 😭

In my amateur opinion, the best deal right now is the Britannia's (January 2022). You can get them for about $3.69 premiums at Monument metals. They are solid coins that are Internationally recognized, good looking, incredible anti-counterfeiting. There are some quality issues with milk spots and I wish they weren't soo polished. My favorite is Maples, they are the best looking coin. But the premiums on Maples and ASE are just too high to justify it. I don't want to pay $30 to $34 dollars when spot is $22-$23 dollars. From what I've seen, you don't get that premium back when you sell. Dealers will pay you a couple dollars back for ASE, but not 8 to 10. I think the Philharmonics are under-rated and don't understand why so unpopular. They are good looking coin.

I love all of those Coins, have quite a few of each. Have not purchased a ASE since 2020. I look for Sovereign coins, then rounds. Been getting into 10 oz bars lately. I purchase whatever has the lowest premium. Like you said, they are all 1 oz of silver. I just believe that the Sovereign coins will hold more of the premium value than the generic.

You know Florida...the more i look at that "missing tooth" security feature on the new ASE's, the goofier it looks! Gee-Wizz America!

May I ask, what is the main purpose to stack these silver coins beside hobby? What is their long term benefits?

Canadian maples are my favorite. Super pure and they have a higher face value than eagles.

I am more of a silver collector than a silver stacker. Silver Proof Sets, Limited Silver Proof Sets, Silver Eagles, Morgans (90% and new) Peace Dollars (90% and new), Kennedys (90% and 40%), Ikes (40%) Walking Libertys (90%). I've not been able to see my way clear on silver rounds.

Glad it was helpful! 2018 and newer Maples are a good coin for you considering your location. They are cheaper and you'll add more weight over the eagles in this high price time we are living through.

yeah .... silver might appear cheap .. but in the same time cause of it´s "low" price ... it´s even more dangerous to buy the wrong price...

Junk silver is the only one I stack now. I used to collect ASE's before I knew better. For me Rounds are out.

So funny. I literally just responded to a comment where the OP said he stopped buying Junk Silver and now only buys Rounds. Great thing about Silver. We have options...and it's all SILVER!

The cheapest silver 1 oz coin to stack is the Athenian Owl from Niue. It looks like a casino chip. It's not as nice looking in terms of design compared with other silver 1 oz bullion coins but it's the cheapest. You cannot go wrong with silver 1 oz rounds

1oz is 1oz the buyer will only pay you what 1oz is worth not what design is on it

Philharmonics are not popular because they are expensive, at least at an LCS. Every shop I’ve been to wants $35+ for one.

Shifted gears away from ASEs towards Britannias and maples sometime ago! Don't really care for the philharmonics and I don't like rounds. My Philly's are the only coins I have that have mysteriously toned and not in a pretty way, although they were stored in the same way as all my other spotless coins.

It's honestly the quality issue with the Phils that keep me from stacking them. I have a few, but they are for KZbin purposes. Maples and Britannia are solid choices.

I see the pricing in my country is completely wacko compared to the US, probably because of import costs. The cheapest coins you can get here are the Krugerrands and Britannias. Rounds tend to be more expensive as they are harder to find. Eagles, Philharmonics, Kangaroos and Mapes have a nasty premium unfortunately. Whenever I find a special on Maples I buy quite a few at once.
