I am so glad you left this comment as it reinforces, a tutorial video i have in my mind , that needs to be made - The video will state that every black man SHOULD use a shaving brush, with cream based shaving cream - So the brush can rake out these hairs from the face with the circular motion and leave cream under the hair that was tight against the face and form a barrier between the razor and the skin - this act in itself will make more hair on the face accountable when shaving with the grain - reducing irritation

My face is always so irritated. I’m so covered in razor bumps and ingrown hair it’s like I have lizard skin. I’m so self-conscious about it! Thanks for videos to help.

This man spot on knows what he is talking about. I have straight hair, so as far as shaving goes I am lucky regarding razor burn and bumps. But after watching his video I did a quick self exam on my 1 1/2 day growth and the most profound thing I found is that the hair just above my jawline near my ears is growing in opposite directions. My left side, the grain is toward my chin, the right side, the grain is toward my ear. If you have trouble with razor bumps I'd heed his advice. Too many shaving videos show the people shaving with, across and against the grain and it's always down, across and up. That's not how most faces work. Keep up the good work Larry.

I don't know how tend skin has worked for you, but I've been brushing my beard even when it's down to a stubble level, and that has really taken away the bumps for me. I mean really brushing it like someone trying to get waves. Have you done this?
@khriseagle

+CJ Zanders i have not. but I will say that no matter what I do I can't seem to get rid of the bumps underneath my chin and on my neck area because my hair grows in all directions; what do you recommend?
@cjzanders5430
@cjzanders5430 6 жыл бұрын
@Khriseagle - I'm telling you, brush the hair on your face consistently. I've been brushing my beard on my cheeks, chin and even slightly the neck, and my bumps have gone down dramatically ... And I still use Kit kiti, and Tend skin for slight inflammation, but brushing mainly. Just as you have the power to train the hair on your head to basically wave due to brushing, you can train your hair on your face to grow straight instead of curling back into the skin. When an older black guy told me this a few months ago, I listened to him because he said he had the same problem I had and his skin was considerably clear. I'm telling you, try it *consistently* before you knock it. 1. You can use a regular brush from Walgreens, but I prefer like a thick scrub brush with soft bristles but thick. Like something you'd buy as a back scrubber. 2. Brush your cheeks down or forward towards your lips. 3. Brush under your cheeks around the chin area down. That should be the way it grows. 4. Some people say that the area right in between the throat and the chin grow up, but you can experiment. I think that either way you brush your hair, you're getting the hair from growing into the skin. 5. Even if your hair is shaved low, brush it, because it should still be directed outside of the skin and straight. * Keep in mind, I use a liner to shave my hair and not a razor, so I don't exactly know what it would look like if you use a razor, but still I'm pretty positive, you should see some positive results even with a close shave razor. Try it. I just started doing this a month ago and I've seen results immediately. Now, the guy that told me what to do, told me that after a while, your hair will automatically grow straight and you won't have to brush it anymore. I have no idea it's true, because I've been constantly brushing it for a month now and I'm just glad at the results I am seeing either way. Let me know how it goes for you but please try it bro. I'm seriously rooting for you and this to work.

+CJ Zanders Damn bro you really are looking out for a brother. I believe there is truth to your advice. Im 26 and my mustache hair grows straight. I believe this is because ever since I had a stache when I was 15 Id always brush it down and trained it. Same goes for my cheecks (for the most part) but the problem areas underneath my cheecks/chin and on neck I never paid attention to. About 2 months ago this year I used the magic shave gold can on my face. It worked great and as my hair grew back I consistently exfoilated with the michael todd brush. No bumps, until one day I clean shaved again with magic shave and then applied a charcoal peel off mask on my entire face like an idiot. That basically waxed my face and it bled all over. I had the absolute worst ingrown hairs and bumps in my entire life. For 35 days I grew my beard (this past november) and I did my best to brush/comb the hair downward. My face healed almost completely. I took before/after photos for my records. Moving forward I will take your advice and every hour on the hour I am going to brush my facial hair. Thanks again for your encouragement bro and Im rooting for you too. Follow me on IG: 7hunnter

The problem is that everyone thinks only in 90 degree increments - with the grain, across the grain, and against the grain. Hello! There are 360 degrees in a circle! I do 4 passes: 1) with the grain 2) across the grain 3) across the grain opposite direction 4) Across the grain but tilted between 5 and 45 degrees in the direction of against the grain depending on the sensitivity of the area I’m shaving, i.e. around 5 to 15 degrees on my neck, around 45 degrees elsewhere. Result? Against the grain baby-butt smoothness without the irritation.

You are right, but not everyone’s skin can take that many passes, so there has to be a compromise with some people - your luck!!!

Did we get really really clean shave if we shave with the grain. In asia a lot of my customer ask to shave against grain. And it really clean and closed shave but got some little blood. I'd try to shave with the grain and cross but still not getting clean shave.
