Yes, Hasbro has made some questionable choices, but they have also made some guaranteed bangers. I for one do not want to start over. Now, I will get the occasional Mafex or Mezco for ultimate versions of some of my favorite characters but overall, Hasbro is putting in the work. Now, if we're talking DC, I am all on board with someone like Jada Toys getting the license for 6" scale DC figures. I love what they're doing with Street Fighter and I think they could do a great job. Before people think I'm hating on McFarlane, nothing says they have to stop making 7" scale DC; WB can just let Jada get the 6" scale. The same thing happens already with Diamond Select 7"/Hasbro 6" right now. Also, Let's not forget Jada is doing Scooby Doo and we all know Scooby and DC have the same parent company, soooo...

Hasbro Legends has some problems. The main one being that many or even most Legends fans also collect Classified GI Joe, and naturally there are comparisons being made. Legends is NOTORIOUS for skimping on accessories while Classified is known for having many killer accessories. That's a fact. It's unfair to compare the two lines though, because Legends has been up front about things. It all comes down to budget, and I don't think that Legends has the budget that the Classified line has--especially since Hasbro owns GI JOE outright, they aren't dependent on Disney budgets or decision making getting in the way of things where GI JOE is concerned. That means they have more leeway to do the characters up right. Unfortunately, Legends doesn't have that luxury. It makes things frustrating for fans and collectors who want things like extra heads and hands with figures. I don't like that we didn't get an extra Rogue head with the white stripes on both sides of her head, or that we didn't get a Siryn screaming head, but I understood that we didn't get those because of budgetary concerns. I can totally forgive Legends because of that. I'm far less forgiving about their choices of characters though. We've gotten tons of X-Men, Spider-Man and Avengers stuff since Hasbro took over. I want to see characters in the Marvel Universe who have not received representation get figures. I want to see classic comic book looks. Those are things that I want as a fan. Legends has done better with this recently. I mean we did finally get Rogue in her original look--even if it didn't have the extra head we wanted. We got Crystal and Lockjaw. I'd have preferred a Kirby style Lockjaw, but I knew they'd never do that. We're getting a classic looking Dragon Man. Classic looking Sentinels. I mean, Marvel Legends has been trying. You have to give them that. I just wish they'd stop doing '90s gimmicks like Cap shields that aren't complete shields. I wish they'd do more accurate classic stuff like giving Thor the classic Mjolnir, or Jean Gray her classic wavy hair instead of giving us modern revisionist stuff. If I wanted to see Legends go to another company, I wouldn't know who would have the facility to do better than Hasbro. I am often disappointed with Hasbro Legends line-ups, but I'm not as often disappointed with their execution. They've improved over the years. They even redid their Magik figure to give us one that was pin-less with legs that weren't bent like Beckum. They're trying. I can see that. I'm not thrilled with half of this years announced figures, but the other half I'm digging. Dude! We're getting a classic comic book ROM figure!! I'm sticking with Legends for the time being. I'm just getting too old to be waiting on characters that I wanted since 2016 without any hope of getting. Can't believe they aren't giving us a Yellowjacket...

The problem is, they have the molds to reuse accessories like hands and stuff. Every figure should have a set of open, fisted, and grappling hands. They already have the molds and reuse parts all the time, so a few extra hands wouldn’t hurt.

Classified make more money per figure than Marvel Legends as Hasbro don't have to pay disney a license for G.I Joe so they have more profits from Classified they can put into extra weapons and accessories. Though I feel Marvel don't need the accessories like G.I Joe do who rely on their military weapons. Most marvel characters have a super power not a weapon.

Hmmm. Lots of thoughts. First -Jeffrey, you've always been more of a "cup half full" kinda person, whereas I'm more of a "cup half empty" kinda guy. So I have a litany of complaints about Hasbro. I can cite endless numbers of times Hasbro dropped the ball. But when it comes to losing the license, that brings up a lot of ground to cover as to whether it would be a good or bad thing. I think though that some of your arguments aren't really valid. For example, if a new company got the license, there's no reason they would have to release all the same basic figures all over again. As long as the new company kept the same scale and style, same articulation, they would fit seamlessly and as others have pointed out, we could sort of just pick up where we left off. As far as character choices, there's no reason to believe that another company would not release unusual or non-top-tier characters. Most Marvel collectors can name far more Marvel characters than probably anyone working at Hasbro or most other toy companies, and the list of characters that people still want - and that the majority of fans are clamoring for - means there's a large market for all the character Hasbro has been neglecting in order to churn 220+ variants of the same 3 characters over and over and over again. Granted, some of the character I personally would love to see - like Sssthgar, Mercurio the 4D Man, etc., are pretty obscure and I don't expect those, although many of them just look so damned cool I can see them being released and NOT becoming peg warmers like the lame "Eternals" MCU garbage Many of them could sell well based simply on their cool and colorful design. But putting aside the very obscure characters, there are hundreds of pretty well known (to Marvel collectors) characters just aching to be made. The market it there. Fans want Mephisto. Fans want Attuma. Fans want classic Banshee. Fans want Mandarin. It's basic Economics 101 - produce the product the customers wants and you make profit. So I don't see that being an issue in any way. The new company could still churn out regular variants of top-selling characters while also producing the much-wanted characters Hasbro is ignoring. It would be a win-win. And hopefully the new company would have intelligent enough people running it (unlike Hasbro) to figure out how to do marketing research and surveys to see which characters are most in demand. As for large figures like Giantman and the Sentinels, other companies have already made such huge characters. A friend of mine has a GI Joe-like figure that's about Galactus size that came out long ago. Also, we don't need the level of detail of Giantman. For example, was it really necessary to give him 3 sets of eyeballs? It was not a selling point for me even if I had decided to buy him. Now there are complaints about how fragile the fingers are, and lots of people are wishing he'd just come with interchangeable hands. I myself would prefer interchangeable hands over the articulated ones because they simply look wrong when making them into fists and so on. Also, was it Mattel who made the giants 24" tall Shogun Warriors in the 1970s? Companies have sold large figures before. There's no reason why a new toy company wouldn't also do so. Have you seen the new Mythic Legions dragon? That thing is HUGE! So I don't think that argument stands either. If a new company got the license, I would hope they would use their brains and learn from Hasbro's many mistakes. No more releasing characters with empty gun holsters (Bullseye), then telling customers "well, you could use it to hold his knife" like some apologist moron at Pulse told me over the phone. No more releasing characters whose hands can't properly hold their weapons in various positions (Firelord, Whiplash, Psycho Man, etc.). No more releasing cheap, in accurate paint jobs that look like the R&D team simply didn't give a damn (Luke Cage). And so on and so forth. Hopefully a new company, if they got the license, would not treat their customers like stupid drug addicts by forcing them to buy 2- packs that contain 1 new character and 1 already released (sometimes already released several times) and forcing them to pay double price for the one character they want. I could go on and on. I'm not sure if Hasbro losing the license would be a good thing or a bad thing. I suspect that price-wise, it might be a bad thing because Hasbro is so huge, it can keep costs down since it pays less for raw materials (they can buy it cheaper in larger bulk), they have more advertising dollars, etc. But in the age of the internet, that last issue may be moot. So if a new company got the license, it could go either way for fans - better or worse. It would depend entirely on whether the new company was wise enough to simply pick up where Hasbro left off and keep churning out new in-demand characters and whether they were smart enough to learn from Hasbro's egregious quality control issues. If a company did those two things, then yes, I'd love for Hasbro to lose the license. If not, I'd prefer Hasbro keep the license.

Blue Marvel really disappointed me, and it was simply the lack of detail in the hair. At this point the only figures I’m invested into are AoA and no other line is going to give me the amount of characters that legends have. Sure Mayfex looks better but I’m just more interested in the amount of characters I can get over the small improvements in just a couple characters. That’s just my opinion. I’m willing to give a little grace because they are trying to please multiple different types of collectors and some of these failures are unacceptable, I don’t need to start over just to complete teams that I already have completed. The biggest issue with me is accessories, if they just do a better job at giving us accessories that display characters powers I can see less criticism. The price isn’t coming down and Hasbro have to be more aware of giving fans more bang for their buck.

The thing is... the "Marvel license" entails a lot. Legends is only a part of what Hasbro produces under that license. Same with "Star Wars." I know a lot of Legends collectors think they're the center of the universe... but it probably isn't the case. Can Hasbro carve off "just 6-inch comic figures" from the Marvel license and drop the rest? So they don't have to produce unsellable "roleplay" accessories for 10-year-olds who aren't buying them? Maybe. Or maybe by having the "Marvel license" they are mandated by the licenser to make toys for various age brackets, and figures from the D+ shows. Etc. That stuff is dragging them down, financially. Given Mattel holds a portion of the Star Wars license, and even McF is doing some Marvel stuff, maybe Hasbro can get out from under the kids-toys part of the brand and put more money and effort into the collectors' line.
@LylesFigureFiles2 күн бұрын
I wonder if they could off load that portion or if those products help the bottom line more than we think?

The fact remains that Hasbro is a company with a BoD and they make all the calls on how much time and money get put into the toys. Watch some of Bobby Valas videos. He did one recently about the Marvel Universe line and he made the Beast and was limited on the stuff he could do; no articulation, no accessories, no extras. He goes in depth a few times. To me it's not so much that I want Hasbro to lose the license as it is for more different companies to have access to it. You have Hasbro, then much more expensive import figures, Mcfarlane is starting to make statues (which I might never buy but that's still pretty cool), anyway. I recently gave, like, Jakks Pacific a shot with their Altered Beast Werewolf (Dragon on the way) and their Simpsons line (Bartman, furious Homer) and these figures are SO much fun and the accessory selections are mostly there, especially for the price they go by (15-20 CAD), so much that I can't help but wonder what colorful and fun Hulk and Spider-Man and Mole Man etc figures they could make. It'd honestly be so awesome, for adults and kids alike!

I don’t think Hasbro should lose the license. I feel like Hasbro should be putting more effort into making their figures better. there’s no reason why in 2024 we have figures who have elbows and kneecaps that are completely different colors than the rest of their arms and legs, why we still have fuzzy paint in the faces, why we still have limited accessories with figures, especially for how much they’ve hiked up the prices in the past five years. there’s no reason why the Haslab giant man came out and damn near every single review that I’ve seen on it has a defect with them not receiving the tray with straight eyes. why we’re getting “deluxe” figures that are 50+ dollars that aren’t worth that. Like Phoenix being $50 bc of a stand or Crystal and a damn near statue of lockjaw being almost EIGHTY dollars. The problem is a lot of big content creators in the action figure community are in Hasbro’s pockets so they don’t hold Hasbro accountable. They glaze and kiss ass no matter what Hasbro team does so Hasbro doesn’t think they need to step up their game and continues to give us mediocrity because they know that the voices of the community are never going to speak up and say anything because they want to continue to get figures to reveal and review early.
@LylesFigureFilesКүн бұрын
I wonder if as many content creators get early/free figures from Hasbro as you might think. I think it's a lot more that collectors who are content creators buy figures they assume they'll like. You could buy things you have never liked and build a decent following explaining why the figures are terrible, but I think most people who take the time doing these videos are inherently bias simply because they like the line not because they're hoping for free figures.

If ML released the Wizard, Trapster/Paste Pot Pete, and Sandman (hopefully in that green tech costume he had for so long as a member of the Frightful Four), who would you want for the 4th member of the Frightful Four? I don't personally like using Medusa as the 4th member because she was later revealed to be an Inhuman who had lost her memory and who was controlled by the Wizard, who kept her memories of her true identity suppressed. So she was always really a good guy, so to speak (plus her figure sucks because her hair is an unmoving mass that makes her top heavy). Thundra was a cool new addition/replacement, but she was only a member a short time - 2 appearances if my memory serves me. The Brute became the 4th (new) member in FF #177 and he was a cool enough character, though he likewise only lasted for the one short appearance. It's one of Marvel's tragedies that the Frightful Four were always actually the Frightful Three Plus One. Hasbro needs to shake it up a little. Offer hands and accessory packs. Offer alternate heads in a pack. Give more options to want to keep a figure. Ie. a Spider-Man pack with web lines, more hands, and three heads. I would buy that. A blast effects pack. Something not offered with their figures.
@LylesFigureFilesКүн бұрын
How much more would you want to pay for that?
@hardact2follow663Күн бұрын
$15 - $20 depending on what’s offered. A couple of companies offer that. On top of their main offerings. For example Valaverse, I don’t collect his stuff, but he does offer those options. It would save them from not offering them with the figures. You buy a Banshee and they didn’t give you his screaming head and only fists in the main offering. This way, they can give you a screaming head, flying hands and a calm head in an accessory pack. Make a few of them and see if they sell. Then if they do, make more. Their Classifieds line can do with some of those packs too.

If rumors are true I would rather the line end and not be picked up by another company cause no one could do it better honestly. Jada would take forever and they would only crank out characters we already got from Legends, plus I think Jada's figures are mid so it wouldn't be better than the Mafex Marvel stuff, cause that's something Jada glazers seem to forget that other companies put out better stuff. McFarlane is the one I'm tired of hearing about because it doesn't make sense, how is Todd gonna put out 7inch figures of a rival studio? Not only that but Diamond Select already makes 7 inch Marvel figures so it's competition with itself and Warner Bros. It would honestly just be redundant if another company got the Marvel license and like you said, do we really wanna start over again? With a massive line like Marvel Legends? With characters and figures we don't even see be attempted by import companies? Given how great these last few years have been with Legends I can't see them dropping the license, maybe changing the contract up a bit so we get less MCU figures and better comic figures but they would be crazy to drop Legends entirely.

Look at how good their MOTU Masterverse figures are, if they can match that quality and they can definitely handle the quantity then it will be a homerun. Please no Mcfarlane, I like his Spawn figures but some are just not fun to pose and his figures have issues standing because of those awfully designed ankles! BTW LOVE that Giant Man!!!!

I think Mattel is the only company with the bandwidth to handle Marvel figures. I've gotten used to McF and kinda dig them now. Giant-Man is so much fun!

Ok the reason why they used the same head sculpt is because Hasbro is lazy that’s kinda it and they don’t care about improving

DA Warbird aside, they've done really well with most of the 2024 releases. Odin certainly isn't a lazy release.

$1 in 2008 is worth $1.46 in 2024. $15 figure in 2008 is the equivalent of a $21.9 figure in 2024. I feel like I am getting far more than a 14% increase in value with the improvements to articulation, paint, plastic quality, and face sculpts. The faces are so much better it is hard to put a 2016 figure next to a 2024 figure.

Funny, I'm watching the Earth's Mightiest Heroes arc where they're fighting Kang and keep thinking how cool Kang's fleet crew would make as Marvel Legends.

@LylesFigureFiles Yes they would indeed. I have to make do Army Building. I use Aliens and Stormtroopers for Thanos Army, but I am hoping to get more Outriders, Human Men for my Kingpin Organization, Mandalorians and Warhammer for my Kang Army. The Mandalorians look kind of Futuristic and with their particular weapons will do.

As much as hasbro makes bad decisions and can get on my nerves they are still the best. I'd hate to see them loose there license. I'm all ready annoyed they allmost got the dc license and then mcfarlane got it. I do have to say, I would save a bunch of money if it did happen. 😂

@@LylesFigureFiles Marvel hit its peak at Infinity War and have been in decline since. Yes there have been a few hits but those are the exception. Just look at B&N and you see what's selling now, and it's not American comics. Marvel has a lot of control and added cost in their products...which directly impacts what Hasbro can and cannot make. Lots of other reasons too, but a saturated market, rough years creatively, increasing costs to shrinking dollars, and Hasbro having financial issues, it may very well be a matter of when the license moves not if.

People really want perfection. Whenever I see someone complain it's definitely the lazy in some figures. You're right though, when you take a step back and look at ALL the odd ball characters we get it's really impressive.
@LylesFigureFiles2 күн бұрын
And yeah some figures absolutely needed someone in the design phase to say "whoa, that doesn't make sense. We have a better part that would work far smarter here." That hardcore level of detail isn't always there, but I'd rather complain about Orb being on the Bucky Cap body than not having an Orb figure at all.

Another company can definitely do better than Hasbro. Seems to be a bit of gaslighting in this video. I definitely think JadaToys would do better, but they are too small of a company to take on such a large license. Other companies would do a giant man and not make it not crowd funded. If Mythic Legions make that huge dragon a preorder without crowd funding then nuff said, Haslabs need to go the way of the dinosaurs. Now the output you are probably right about, but that just talks to how large Hasbro is as a company. I think I would rather have 10 awesome figures than 100 garbage figures and 6 “well ok this good for Hasbro” figures.
@tonileo98492 күн бұрын
If Jada could get the license, i could see them putting out fewer figures and based on well known characters like Avengers, Spider man or F4, like waves, that could probably help bevause releasing 2-3 waves a year with new sculpts and such would be compensating for said new sculpts. Focusong on less character output would allow for better figures with better proportions, sculpted details and accessories.
@LylesFigureFiles2 күн бұрын
How long have you been collecting Marvel Legends? If you’ve got a smaller collection sure maybe quality over quantity would do it for you, but MAFEX already has collectors covered on that front. The viable options because Jada sure isn’t is McFarlane or Mattel. Would they do that much better a job to invest in buying the Marvel characters all over again?
@trapcross2 күн бұрын
@@LylesFigureFiles I've been collecting for about 15yrs not specifically ML's, but I have gotten selective ones over the years. I think if Jada could get a license to make a few marvel figures they would be able to atlease prove what they can do. I'm not so sure Jada is interested in that, and like I said before, they are just too small of a company to take on such a huge license. Definitely not McFarlane and I'm not so sure about Mattel if thier HeMan line is any indication then no, I would trust Mattel either. There's no one that can dethrone Hasbro at the moment unfortunately. That's not to say collectors shouldn't want better options other than Habro. But yes I do think Jada would do a better job as far a quality for the price, but the quantity would be the issue for them.

@@LylesFigureFiles the main problem imo is the lack of good sculpt, proportions, paint, accessories, articulation. Hasbro isnt catering to kids with these figures due to the favt they re tapping into obscure characters, or that they re putting out 300$ crowdfunded figures like Ghost Rider, or deluxe 60$ figures like Blob. I expect more from them.
