yeah, this is something i'm guilty of. ruined so many tracks lol, but since i bought studio monitors it's easier to notice when you've gone too far. so disappointing when you spend hours of work just to make it worse

Recently moved away from spending hours (days) mastering tracks and agree the quality went up- what are your thoughts on hitting lufs targets? Some tracks I can get loud no problem but others sound lifeless when I push them harder - same advice as before to just let it be when it sounds good already?

It depends on the style bro. I usually master around -10 LUFS. Some track I can get as loud as -8.5. But generally I don’t like to push tracks to much. Better to make the tracks louder on the audio system and keep the dynamics. Some tracks will be a bit louder and that’s okay. Check what’s working for your track and it will be cool :)
