Nice product, 99 percent of doors not shutting properly is mis aligned bad hinges, or crappie weather stripping. You 67-72guys try using the Honda Civic weather strip. Subscribed.

Thanks for subscribing. I'd agree with that in part, but I've adjusted mine and have new Precision Replacement Parts weatherstripping and it is the best on the market. My doors certainly didn't shut horribly before, but they shut so much better now.

Check the 67-72 Chevy truck.com sight. The Honda Civic can’t remember what year but Honda still sells them new and cheap weather strip. They go on the pinch weld no glue. I agree with the precision product these Honda Fit like a glove. That door latch assembly looks nice and glad it worked for you. Check out the thread and file it in the back of your mind. It was just a friendly info.

@triquemfg
@triquemfg 5 жыл бұрын
We do recommend lubricating the latch system. As with any mechanical item that is comprised of a lot of metal on metal interaction, it is wise to keep it lubricated. We apply grease to key areas on the latches, but do not excessively oil them as we know people will be handling and painting some components, and we all know how oil and paint do not play well together. Should lube everything up during final install.

@triquemfg
@triquemfg 5 жыл бұрын
@@pmotorsports8276 we have found that if you push your lock lever down while your door is open, then close your door, the door will lock. We didnt design the kit to do that, it just has to do with pushing the lock past the detent point and then gravity and the weight of the lock rod does the rest. Only if you initially push the lock button though.

Biggest question is can I lock the door before closing it and have it stayed locked after closing? That’s always been the biggest annoyance with the old cam latch. My door closed nicely already, not this nice, but nicely. I would make the move if these did away with the whole “anti lock my keys inside” thing.
@UNITEDBYTRUCKS

That's actually a great question. I'll ask Trique about that.
@triquemfg

Brent, we did not plan it this way, and we would not refer to it as a feature, but on each kit we have tested, we were able to open the door, push down on the lock rod, and close the door. The door would then be locked. This has mostly to do with gravity and weight of the lock rod, not a design decision.

You know they make this stuff that people DO NOT USE AT ALL,................. it is called PB Blaster and Graphite!! Not slamming you or shaming you on your "build video" because the video so far is wonderful and very well edited!!! Btu I find a lot of "stupid people" out there all the time who thinks "lubricating your car" means "making sure there is still an oil leak spot in the driveway under it"!!! I bought a 1985 Ford F-150 off my neighbor a few years ago, which I have to mention was a woman, and I had the truck a week and went through it lubricating everything on it. A few months went by and she (the woman I bought the truck off of) asked to borrow my truck back to move a bed to her house!! She had it for a couple of hours before coming home with her new bed in it, and the first words out of her mouth was "What the F**K did you do to my truck?" At first I was taken back I thought she was honestly sincerely PISSED OFF AT ME!! But when I asked her "What the hell do you mean?" she reported to me that it seemed like a "completely different truck" driving it around!! Later she told me "The doors close without slamming them, and the steering turns with just one finger, and how come the tailgate opens as smoothly as it does, and I see you replaced the broken cable to holds the tailgate in the "down position" on the passenger side!" Truth is if more people would just do "simple stupid maintenance" on their cars these old cars wouldn't really be "that bad"!! I graphite the hell out of the door lock cylinders on EVERY CAR I OWN, I use a "two step approach" to every door latch and "release device" (hood and truck releases) on the car or truck and I grease up things like Ball Joints, tie rod ends and what ever else has a grease fitting on them including drive shafts and so on!! If you just spend an hour or two under your car you realize most "normal people" are quite stupid about "car maintenance" to begin with!! And hell in a lot of cases I have seen old cars that are 30 years old and NEVER HAD a new transmission filter in their Automatic Transmissions just because people refuse to read the owners manual to start with!!! In fact I bought a 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass in 1992, and in the 20 years since the car was NEW nobody had ever just lubricated the door latches, hinges, hood and trunk releases and any of the key locks ON THE CAR!! I did and it made all the difference in the world!! And my "two step process" is simple, FIRST in the spring or early summer spray your latches with PB blaster and use them as normal throughout the summer. Then around late September early October (I am in New York....so before it gets COLD) hit the door lock cylinders, release devices, hinges and all that, with some powdered graphite and allow that to "work in" over the next few weeks before "cold weather" and winter snow!! Even on a car that is your "daily driver" or "winter rat beater" will "thank you" for doing this as you will NEVER had a frozen door lock or a hinge that won't open in 12 degree below zero weather!!!! And trust me when I say nothing sucks more that fighting with your hood that won't open when it is literally 13 degrees outside and you are standing in two feet of snow just trying to check your oil level on your 1999 Chevy Pick Up 4X4 Winter Rat!! Doors close so much smoother with just a little TLC no matter how you cut it!!

It sure looks like a good upgrade, but I can't justify the high cost. As said in other comments, massaging the oem latches requires cleaning and adjustment at almost no cost for similar results.

Nah... We took apart the mechanism on my brothers truck, wire wheeled it all, greased it back up, and threw it back together. I'm not into chopping extra holes in the doors when you can just recondition the old parts and keep it moving.
