If you are going to paint your truck and install new door seals, test fit the seals before you paint the truck. Most likely there will be some adjustments that have to be made that could damage the paint. #c10, #chevy, #seals

A few hours in the summer heat will do wonders for helping the rubber to take a set. WD-40 on the gasket after paint will help quite a bit too...Thanks for the videos!

I waited until I was done with the paint door would not close should have done lot of things different I didn't know any better. What I did was take the fender off adjust the door hinges then I put a Honda press in weather strip fits perfect much better then then precision brand. Didn't need to do any bending like you did. Honda part numbers are Left 72355-sva-a01za and right 72315-sva-a01za not cheap but they work really well. Maybe this will help someone who didn't find your video before they painted.

Great video! I was having trouble with my new precious weather strips, kicking the bottom of the door out. I’m actually in the process now of rebuilding the hinges and getting ready to put the doors back on so I can starts blocking the truck with the doors on. This video answers a lot of my question! I’m also debating on adding the Trique Mfg door latches...

You could put slips of paper around door, when door is closed you can check by pulling strips, tight pulls hard, loose easy. My 49 Willys wagon is what it is

man i learned more int this video about adjusting doors than I knew working on classics since 2016. I am always afraid of putting new seals on cuz I always run into the same problem, never thought of finding what makes it tight and grind/push back before. Also, G body does not have edges like that where you can adjust I wonder how could you do this on a 86 el Camino for example. I wish I could be your assistant...

Fantastic vid! Im in the same boat as yours with the altman latches. What seals did you wind up using? Precision? I've tried those, and went to JYD civic seals. Might go back to precision after seeing your video

We used precision. Seemed like a good product but it would be nice to find something that would work great without all the bending of the metal. One guy mentioned 2014 Silverado seals. I may try them to see.

Sean Saxon just for mock up. Owner installed the rack n pinion steering and all the linkage to make sure it fit and no further modification was needed to the firewall before paint. Thanks and thanks for watching!

Fantastic video, I have a question. Once you get everything ready to paint and take the doors back off, how do you get the doors back on like you had them without having to go through the adjust/test/repeat process again only this time with a painted door???

Once you have the door exactly where you want it, simply drill two small 1/8” holes through each hinge and into the hinge pillar before you remove the door. Then when you go to reassemble, use a couple of pick tools, nails, whatever to align the 1/8” holes before tightening the bolts down. This should get right back where you were or extremely close. Drill the holes as far apart as possible for better alignment or sometimes I put a third hole. The holes can be filled and painted if needed when you reassemble. If you are going to unbolt the hinges from the door, do them the same way. Thanks for watching!

What is the advantage of the Trique Mfg door latches? I always thought the factory latches worked well.

Honestly I’m not sure. I had a 69 that the factory latches seemed fine on as well. I guess if the factory ones are bad it may be a good route to go. The Altman didn’t necessarily seem easier than factory to latch and open. It seems more of the having to slam your doors problem is in the seals with either latch. And the Altman was hard to open when there was a lot of pressure on the door from the seals so.....I guess it can go either way.
