Having problems with doors closing poorly? Trique Altman Latches has a great kit and I install it on the Shop Truck in this video. Enjoy......

Anyone else cheer Lucky on when he was one-handing the Sharpie cap? :D
@moparedtn4 жыл бұрын
I kept thinking "just do it two-handed Lucky, you can let go of that latch now".... and after he finally gets the cap on the pen, he immediately lets go of the latch. :-)

I love the C10 mods. It doesn't sound like a 67-72 door closing anymore. But it's cool to see the modern latch.

Awesome that it was full job at normal speed.great to watch a master tech at work.
@baggerrider80734 жыл бұрын
I believe these latches have two steps versus one (as in the stock) so it’s as much for safety as it is for a replacement. Sometimes these old trucks go over a bump or around a corner and the door swings open unexpectedly. That won’t happen with the bear claw design.

I have a 68 c10 and was always frustrated with door latch operation. The reason is I also have an original unrestored 1948 ford F1 with refrigerator doors that close like butter. Crusty rusty old 48 shuts with ease while my 68 shuts like a Honda that's been T boned.

So at 16 I worked at Lancaster Body and Frame.. I quickly became the "door guy" the owner didn't want to charge to adjust a door and body men were paid on commission so they didn't want to do it... it was 1981, Cadillac and GM cars had huge doors. Years later I worked for AAA towing, and was the "T-6a" King (keys locked in cars) because I knew doors so well.. I got Hella tips from happy mom's who locked their babies in the car at the mall... great memories... later I was recruited by a repo guy in the bay area because of my reputation of not taking longer than 10 seconds - I literally had them count to 10, and usually throwing them the keys.. but it was the magical 80's

Drain holes in the floor .. Help with Air-tight pushback. Run rubber grommets like you're drilling a hole to run wire through on the firewall. (drill out grommets if needed to insure airflow) The tube of the grommet will make splash up into your footwell nearly impossible. Drain holes there if you wash the floor or spill a 64oz drink... Double duty... Air and drainage.

Not being a critic but a air body saw would have made this easier I think as long as you use the right tooth count blade. I love my 3" cut off wheels but a body saw has so much more control. Anyways i dig the latch set up I had no idea someone made a pre fab kit.
