Stop struggling with that recoil spring! I've tried 'em all, this is my favorite way to install

I had to remove a spring recently on a Poulan P3516PR that I’m trying to bring back to life. The recoil was totally clogged with years of dried oil and debris. The housing and the spring both needed a thorough cleaning that brake cleaner couldn’t remove, plus it needed a new pull cord. The diameter of the space was smaller. I wound the spring in on the bench, rotating the housing while feeding in the spring and keeping downward pressure at three points of contact at all times. I could tell from your experience that my spring was much more difficult due to the smaller diameter of the housing. It absolutely does take a good amount of patience and a couple of attempts at starting the spring into the housing before I figured out that two points of contact were not enough. With the downward pressure needed it’s obvious I could never do it up in mid-air the way you were able to do it. I guess some recoils will be easier to do than others. Thanks for the video. 👍

I try not to remove the springs if I don't have to. Sometimes though, just like you stated, they're so filthy a person has no choice but to remove them to clean. Some are definitely easier than others. Good work on yours! Glad you got 'er licked.

Hi, I like to roll it up in my fingers then I take my mini long nose vise grips lock it up & then I set into the recoil housing..😳🤔🤗🤙🏾

Hi I managed to do it very happy after 10 goes or so, I found out that I had to clean every thing then it worked out easy thanks for that tip cheers from down under

I've wined it up by hand and hold with tip ties, then drop in cover!
