I usually have multiple bases in minecraft so i can switch between elaborate building, making farms/testing out redstone, and tiny builds like this one. One of my favorites is this swampy little cave i made as a starter base. We also put keep inventory on that realm so we can really goof around and not worry about losing all our stuff and thats REALLY helped.

Having KeepInventory off really increases the intensity of the game for the better and for the worse though. It feels like when you take risks, it feels a lot more risky, but it also feels like I don't want to wear my diamond armor because i spent so much time getting it and don't want to use it so I just stay with iron armor. an example is when I went underwater caving for diamonds. I brought 7 doors and 8 magma blocks. I had to place a magma block every ten seconds or i would drown, but in the end I found a good bit of diamonds. the only thing was that it was at an ocean which was quite a bit far away, and a really deep cave, which i even got lost in for a few minutes. That was exhilarating, and a little bit nerve-wracking, where as if i had keepInventory on, it wouldn't give the same experience. but I do mostly agree with you that having it on would really just allow for more just, goofing around, setting traps for eachother and stuff.

i have a mod that adds a soulbind enchantment that basically means if you die you keep any item that has that enchantment, so its kinda like a balanced keep inventory which i really like, you have to work for it, death is still punishing but not demotivating, makes things fair but keeps it interesting

Minecraft's playstyle pretty similarly imitates how art movements developed throughout human history. The renaissance inspired a dedication to all things in perfection and precision followed by a movement of realism or depicting more honest and truer to life works. Then came expressionism, a dedication to authenticity and emotion,

I was watching so many different minecrafters on you tube. The 100 day challenges, group playing, some solos where they built huge houses, and I literally lost my ability to play. My mind was numb with all the content I was watching. Your right. I have quit watching most, and only watch a couple different minecrafters. Been trying to just play and relax. For example, i discovered i can make a starter base out of red and white mushrooms in the swamps. Its cute, tiny, and still functional. Thanks for this video, i wish more would watch it. ❤

Oh yeah man. I suggested Grian add some new people to Hermitcraft for season 10 and he actually did, and i had seen specifically him get more and more stressed out with making the huge build each season, and there really was such a shift with season 10 when it seemed like he wanted to really just. Enjoy the game? And i think them adding more people showed how theres more of a relaxed vibe now- I dont know. I hadnt played minecraft in a good while now but the past few days ive been "preparing a server" (I have no idea if it will ever be used) but ive just been enjoying doing things. Building custom dungeons, adding whatever mods I think will be fun, like... Why was there such an obession with the speenrun type playstyle? I really wonder why that ever cuaght on like it did, because it really led to a lot of people lowkey hating the game. Im glad people are becoming aware of it now and trying to actually enjoy their time

I’m glad we’re addressing this now. We have let a vocal minority of players, the players who literally grind the fun out of the game, the kind of players who casually speed run the game, gaslight the community into thinking that, somehow, Mojang is at fault for not adding more content. The truth is that, even if they added more content, that wouldn’t satisfy this sub community of cry babies, because they would simply grind the fun out of whatever Mojang adds next. The simple truth is that Mojang quit literally doesn’t care to update their game THAT much. Because most of us, believe it or not, don’t really care. While I most definitely prefer that they do update the game still, I’m not gonna be angry that every update isn’t changing the game completely. As much as these players wanna convince us that they are the majority, Mojang could literally lose millions of players, and it’d be no skin off their back. Obviously it wouldn’t be preferable to lose players either way💀 so it’s nice that they still put effort into their updates.

I couldn't agree more. I would say that the massive resurgence in popularity the game saw during 2020-2021 and the overflow of content that this brought to KZbin are to blame. I can't be too mad at content creators for having to constantly out-do themselves and others; it's what they have to do to stay relevant after all. But a game like Minecraft can only take so much "Mr. Beastification" from so many content creators until all the possibilities of what the game has to offer are seemingly exhausted. As much as I really dislike all the "Minecraft is Dying" videos from 2023, these players are still entitled to their opinion. But I believe such harsh criticism of the game should be voiced with a lot more nuance, considering that most viewers will simply consume and internalize others' opinion without really questioning it. And this leads many to sadly not be thankful for all the good things we do get. SO MUCH content has been added over the last several updates: load up a world from 1.15 (only 4 years ago!) and you'll see how incredibly different the world looks than how it does now. People forget that those who are developing this game we all love are also humans. And they are just as susceptible to miscommunication and burnout as we all are. Mojang has all my respect for continuing to develop with passion and express concern for their community despite the huge undeserved waves of hatred they get. I'm glad the community is finally turning around.

I'm glad I'm not the only one noticing this issue, it truly frustrates me that the community, has gotten so serious nowadays, amd that everything has to be revelatory, and huge and grand, when in honesty, not everything has to be huge. Everything i see is alway compared to the nether update, while I loved teh nether update, looking back, because of how too good it was, it probably waa also in some way a more controversial, and problematic update, do to everyone comparing the later updates (C&C 1/2, Wild, and T&T) to it, as if it has to meet the standards of the big predecessor, that came before it, despite the fact that it took them 1 year to get the updates ready, while nether took 2, starting around aquatic. And admittedly I've learned to be grateful for what mojang gives us, even if it isn't much, (although i was admitted dissatisfied with 1.19, imo) but I've learned ti enjoy the game the way I play. I enjoyed 1.18, and 1.20, and I'll admittedly say I like them, despite them not being big, I had my fun with them, and I shouldn't have to look so negatively towards them, because its not 1.16 standards. Now while i have admittedly been critical at mojang, I'm not put to say they're "awful", and "lazy," and "slow", or "they suck," especially when it comes making updates on a game that's been around for almost, if not exactly 15 years from now. (Not to mention they also have to make the game compatible with every consile via bedrock) All in all, I couldn't agree with you guys more.

My friends and I had to restart our SMP after getting tired of our old world, and from the moment we spawned in they started talking about all the stuff we "Needed To Do", things like finding a Lava pool, getting Netherite, going to the end to get an Elytra, Excetera. By the time we built our first actual build, most of us already had Full Neth. We Had automatic Gunpowder, Iron, Gold, Cobblestone, and Enderman Xp farms, even a Villager Trading hall, but no builds. The one and only build we made wasn't even really ours, as we just copied a design that one of us found online. Out of all my friends I was the only one who tried to make their own builds, but I never completed any. None of us plays on the Server now, it's only been a couple months and we have to restart, again. And the boredom isn't just limited to the server now, but Minecraft itself. This time I know better. Next time we restart (when 1.21 releases) I'll encourage my friends to take this advice too. Thank you for making this video, and wish us luck

Your video reminded me to something about drawing, if you draw with the idea “it needs to be perfect” and “i have to draw”, drawing becomes a chore that saps the joy from the experience. Same principle applies to Minecraft which is probably why I’m feeling burnt on it again is because I have the idea of making a huge villager house for trading, and im trying to get the idea perfect and at that point it’s becoming a chore. I watched one animators video (Andy the Enderman), and the guy was building a simple cobblestone box, and i missed the feeling of making something that simple because each survival game i start, im trying to build a fancy house right away. TL:DR Drawing can feel like a chore if you’re forcing yourself to draw. Same goes with Minecraft if you’re constantly trying to achieve perfection (huge builds, fancy detail [nothing wrong with detail]). Sometimes its good just to enjoy building a simple house, even a box with a couple varying blocks. Simple isn’t bad, it can often be refreshing. Have fun fellow Minecrafters, may you have a pleasant day🧡

One thing that ive learned from seeing MMO's as well as games like Animal crossing, the amount of content isn't the problem. The problem is that some people have this weird mentality of having to rush through the game as fast as possible, treating it like a chore that's on their list of things that need to get done. Because of this, it doesn't matter how much content gets added. You could add years worth of content, they will still complain that there's "not enough content" after blitzing through the game without enjoying it. Minecraft was never really meant to be "beaten" so having people complain about lack of things to do is quite comical. I guess some people are just incapable of doing their own thing, they need the game to tell them what to do and their interest ends as soon as that runs out or the game stops telling them what to do.

@@SvengelskaBlondie What if there isn't a better game? What if you want something that's 80% like Minecraft but the rest 20% is something else, so Minecraft is already the best option? @SvengelskaBlondie
@SvengelskaBlondie 11 күн бұрын
@@ERRR0RR @ERRR0RR No, it isn't. It's not reasonable to have the game dev change things just for a single person or a small group. The whole percentage thing is just for someone's limited perspective, the changes you would love to see is the same things that another would hate to see. The whole idea would just open up a massive can of worms, guaranteeing that someone is gonna get diappointed. suggesting things to improve the game is one thing, wanting the game to cater specifically to what you want is entirely different. what happens when someone else starts demanding changes that you don't like. Cause your changes are gonna be what someone hates about the game, there's no winning here. Lastly, it's completely ignoring the wishes of the developer. Maybe his vision of the game is different than yours, demanding they change their vision to suit you is pretty damn pretentious and selfish. Edit: if that 20% is that important, they could always just make mods or make their own game, then again that would inevitably put them on the receiving end of having people want the game to cater to them. Funny how that works.

I think the tryharding mindset has ruined a lot of games, not just Minecraft. People are so obsessed with hyper optimizing everything, and feeling the need to impose that on others. I was on a discord for an indies turn based RPG, and a new player asked for possible fun strategies for the story quest using a thing he thought looked cool. He got berated by people for "playing the game wrong" because what he wanted to run for the chill campaign wasn't endgame meta. That's insane. Video games are supposed to be fun.

I'm glad someone else finally spoke up and said this. The minecraft community has gotten this habit of just sucking every last drop of fun out of the game, and it got so bad for me that I had trouble playing the game and enjoying it because I couldn't even build a simple mob farm- I felt pressured for everything I made to be utterly perfect- and the few times where I did accomplish that, I didn't even like how it looked. It was only when I watched RTgame's more casual playthrough that I realized how much I hate 'perfect' in minecraft, and how much more fun it is to just choose a few random blocks of build out of, and improvise from there. People can say all they want about what version of minecraft is better, or whether or not the game is "losing it's charm", but I honest to god think people are just getting burnt out from playing the game like it's cookie clicker, and are remembering when they played it normally back when they were a kid. It's still a very, very fun game, you just have to *let yourself have fun* in the first place.

Striving to design increasingly complex machines and games which are simply marvelous. But there is always the creeping knowledge that because we aren't KZbinrs, we're only sinking this time into these amazing builds for our own satisfaction, so the question of "should we really be spending so much time on this" is a constant woe. Imo this is a large part of why so many people quit Minecraft and come back with a “two week Minecraft phase“ because it’s easy to lose motivation when you’re seeing these KZbinrs build massive, perfect structures and farms and all this amazing stuff within seconds because of editing tricking your brain like that. And it feels like you can ever catch up to these essentially gods of Minecraft. I recall a conversation once with my brother, who said some Minecraft players were annoyed about the "balancing" of the game and I looked at him dumbfounded as to why that was a major talking point. Sure I get it, Minecraft has elements that need to be balanced - exploration vs payoff, combat - but the first and foremost element should always be "is it fun?". Because Minecraft is a sandbox game. The goal should be for the player to have fun. I don't mind new blocks. I'd happily welcome new decorative ones e.g. Polished Andesite Walls, or Polished Diorite Bricks. Or the new Auto-Crafter block or Copper stuff. I simply see them as a way to have more fun creatively. I don't exactly like the changes to getting Mending but if I'm having fun playing Minecraft, I'll keep playing. Way too many people are focused on grinding which I think comes from too many people treating the grinds in newer CODs, Destiny, etc. as normal.

I mean, It`s so.. I needed to hear that I mean I`ve kinda skipped new versions a few years, and now Im coming back to the game. This time I`m going to get bachelor`s degree in a few months, so I`m trying to chill and get some entertainment I`ve got here and.. yes. I`ve died a few months into the Nether, trying to get blaze`s roads Today I spent the whole day to find a way to interact with striders - a something new for me Also I checked my village`s wall against the raid So.. I thought like "oh, im dying on lava, I`m a bad one. My village looks like a village, not a trading hall, because I don`t want to do it. I hav no any raid farms and defended myself..." Tired for today, I closed the game and got to this video. And it really was that`s I need to hear. Thank you so much!

I think that if the End had instead been called something like... the 'Outer Islands' dimension or something, that people wouldn't be so determined to minmax and 'complete' the game today. The fact that Minecraft has a directly defined "end" kind of goes against the message of the game - that being building and creativity - not beating some final boss. The ender dragon should be a weird little challenge that you can choose to take on, not the 'end of the game'. Or at least that's how I view it.

Old versions kinda help with that, they are more simple, and have to say things are harder in older versions, so when you play them you really relax much more and do what the point of the game is, relax, have fun, and be creative

(RANT INCOMING) I wholeheartedly agree with you. Sure, I may build some sorta large houses/homes that look pretty or cool, I may build a multitude of quality of life farms, but I dont do it obsessively to the point of being burnt out like some people or Dream SMP players or Hermitcrafters. I try to make sure I'm having fun doing it- I do have fun doing what I do, but I dont try to be more perfect than Grian or MumboJumbo while burning myself into the ground. My farms are also hardly ever redstone automated, I just have normal wheat pens, cow pens, bamboo patches, beehives just sitting out, etc. Despite this they still work gracefully without outdoing Minecraft's greatest redstone engineers. So, whatever floats your boat, whether it BE making big automatic farms and beautiful homes and gearing up with greatly enchanted and trimmed netherite with cool interior decorations and features all over, or perhaps nomadically moving across the world, sometimes temporarily placing camp at uncharted dirt huts off the grid or in villages, have fun with this creative sandbox, dont try to outdo the best of the best and kill yourself doing it.

Hermit craft is a great example for me honestly, it doesn’t feel like a minecraft world anymore it feels like a planned world build with a publish date.

negativity is easy, feed yourself positive and optimistic thoughts and don’t focus on one aspect of the game.

I think the nature of “taking it simple” that has been lost is entirely due to social media. Back 10 years ago, sharing online work on KZbin wasn’t a job, wasn’t a competition for views. It was just people having fun. It then became a sort of competition between the creator and the viewer, the creator trying to wow their audience into watching more episodes, getting them invested. Then there came the dawning realization that they were taking the game too seriously, so they course corrected and listened to what they wanted. (Specifically for the Hermitcraft fanbase, we said we wanted more interactions.) I think there’s a healthy amount of obsession. Take Scarland, for example: That entire project was fueled from Scar’s passion of building a Disney inspired theme park in Minecraft. He would spend another two years easily on that project. Decked Out 2: how Tango wanted to improve upon Decked Out in so many ways, how he spent forever “grinding” on the project to make it a reality. The problem lies, I believe, in the fact that so many people are (or in the past) building, grinding, speedrunning, and innovating for the sake of creating videos that get lots of views. When it’s about chugging content, getting Instagram likes, getting praise from the Minecraft fanbase… it is no longer fueled by a love to create. In short: speedrun the game, grind for hours, innovate over the top farms, build huge mega bases in creative and then survival. But only if you want to do those things! But also, if you want to take it slow, if you want to slowly improve building, if you want to renovate the villages without grinding for netherite first, then do that too! At the end of the day, we shouldn’t be playing for the what-could be’s in Minecraft, what we think Mojang should release. If that’s the case, learn to mod and do it yourself. (And if modded Minecraft is the way you love to play, then play that way. There’s zero shame on that.) There shouldn’t be anything wrong or right about any play style of the game, any approach. If you make videos, spend time role playing or creating video timelapses that are works of art, that’s all great too. To end it off, it’s not about taking Minecraft less seriously, it’s about taking yourself less seriously.

Believe it or not, but I’ve been playing for a decade and haven’t yet “beat” the game. I don’t care to. I enjoy building and crafting stuff. It’s calming and soothing for my middle aged adhd brain, and the music is just so relaxing. Some people like to suck the fun out of everything though

Finally! Someone has made this! People treat this game like all there is to do is get the elytra and that’s it. You cannot do that with a game like Minecraft. Youre limiting yourself with a thing that has no limits

I really disliked the whole "bigger is better" trend. I never enjoyed excessive farms for everything either. What happened to just chilling, relaxing and gathering stuff one by one? You get more out of the game by doing little things at a time.

I like playing like that better, it has nothing to do with challenging others and everything to do with challenging myself. Nobody sees it except me lol. I like that kind of content online because its just interesting and cool that people achieved these things on their worlds. It really depends on how im feeling but most of the time that is how I have fun. It seems like this video diminishes my opinion because hes saying "just enjoy the game" as if we arent enjoying playing like that. I dont expect mojang to cater to a minority of players, that is ridiculous, but I love pushing myself to build things I didn't know how to before.

Hi. I couldn't agree more about what you said in this video. It just describes perfectly this game's main issue atm. That's why I decided to create a server where we we gather around to build cool stuff, go on adventures and just having fun altogether. Let me know if you'd like to join our server, it is a paid server and we got a handful of players from all around the world that are having fun playing on it. Let me know if you are interested !
