Simple but very effective method. I do this all the time on all kinds of guitars. Another application is removing necks for shimming.

Oh man the velcro!! I do the capo thing but this is next level especially when dialling in a setup and having to take them off multiple times!

I've always just used hot glue to hold them in place at the nut and attached the ball ends to a keyring. This would get the job done too I suppose.

How again would this work on an electric guitar? Maybe with a Floyd rose or similar locking bridge but otherwise you need bridge pins for this to work.

Taking a neck off of an electric guitar for example, like a Strat, when shimming a neck or doing work on the neck or neck pocket. Or a tune o matic bridge like on a Les Paul or an SG if you have to remove the tailpiece temporarily. The same method applies and goes a long way in keeping the strings from getting tangled and twisted up

@@guitar_md I suppose so. It seems the capo would be all you really need though. The stop tailpiece keeps that end of the strings sorted as would the bridge of a bolt on guitar too. Good ideas though.

@@braderrick I'd still argue the Velcro keeps things a lot tidier. Even though the tailpiece and bridge will hold the strings in place to an extent, when the tension is taken off the strings completely, they will go all over the place. The Velcro keeps some amount of tension on the strings so they won't whip around anywhere near as much, and it also helps prevent confusion if you flip the neck or tailpiece over a couple times as you're working, which happens all the time if you do a lot of guitar work. I've done it to so many guitars at this point I don't even think about it anymore, so I'd suggest it to anyone that hasn't tried it. The capo is the most critical, but the combination of the two really keeps things as neat as possible. For me it's always both of them together, in any situation where string clips (or string spreaders as they call them now) won't do the job. The guy I learned from used Velcro on both ends all the time, but later on I found the capo at the 1st works much better for obvious reasons. That was a real game changer for me.

@@guitar_md alright alright, I’ll try it lol. You’ve convinced me. Luckily I have some pedalboard Velcro handy too…

@@braderrick Let me know how it goes! No offense will be taken if you find it doesn't make a difference either. Let me know your honest opinion. Speaking of pedalboards, makes me want to make a video on making cables too.
