Really appreciate the way you teach us using props, tape, rulers, and so on-“seeing is believing!” Otherwise, it would be difficult to know when you are cueing straight or not and where your cue is positioned at all times. What a great idea to use a paper ruler--like the one you held up to the camera. And the “three plus three” ball cue tunnel you created was awesome! It shows exactly went you cue straight and when you don't.

and so Does Fedor Gorst; I mentioned that to my instructor and she replied that when one plays for a long time especially since childhood they are able to function well with a so called wrong technique. We also have that in music; for example many great piano virtuosi play flat handed as opposed to curving. I guess "The end justifies the means"" Whatever works for the individual.

Many top players drop their elbows. Many. Gorst and many other European players. Gorst is considered to have some of the best fundamentals in pool. In fact, almost all top players have at least a little elbow drop.

@@Ocean8881 Your instructor is wrong about an elbow drop coming from players that have been playing for a long time. I lived in the Philippines for over 16 years and saw a lot of really good players. Some of these younger players had only been playing for a few years and had an elbow drop. It depends on the person. But this idea that you can't get through the ball with an elbow drop is just nonsense. In fact, the elbow drop actually lengthens the stroke and helps you get through the ball better. The key is the starting height of the elbow. These instructors need to stop spreading bad information.

Thanks for your input but I would like to experience a clean pendulum stroke with no elbow drop unless it s intentional. Most of my favorite players such as Hunter Lombardo, Chris Melling, Johan Chua, Jennifer Barretta , etc.. hardly ever drop their elbow. There must be a positive reason for such technique. Neis Feijen is another great example

@@eddyb777 Only a couple of those players are elite players (Chua and Melling), the others are not. Certainly not Barretta. You can stroke the cue anyway you want, but my point is that saying you should not drop your elbow is total nonsense. If you watch almost all of the great players - they have at least some elbow drop and many of them have a very noticeable elbow drop on many shots. And it depends on the player. It depends on the body type, things like that. If you watch FSR, Gorst, Ouschin, and many many others - they drop their elbows on almost every shot.

Disagree with the looking back to see what the elbow is doing. Set up your phone or a camera and record it. Looking back changes your motion and stroke plus your thinking about it..

You lose some credibility when you say "stop dropping your elbow." Many of the best players in the world drop their elbows and some of them have a huge elbow drop. Many European players drop their elbow, but even if you watch top American and Asian players they also drop their elbow. Some substantially.
