It was good fun, I think at that low a points level some restriction help a lot otherwise it’s easy for some to just dominate the board

Interesting. Reminds me a bit of what we called a Highlander styled tourney we played to tone down some things back in 6-7th edition. One thing in your games' final scores. They all looked very lopsided. Did many/all the games see this type of scoring? What size board did you all use? Ive played 1000-1500 point games on the 60x44 boards in 9th edition which felt like it gave a bit more room to maneuver. 1200 points felt like the sweet spot on that size board.

I do love a bit of highlander play, hoping to go to a tournament with that rule set later in the year! There was a few scores like mine, some armies like my admech into the tyranids is just a bad game for the mech but on the whole it was all quite close The table sizes were 3ft x 4ft which I think was good for 1000 points, it sure is play any higher points on a table that small 🤔

i really liked this tourny! with 10e getting so crazy with how cheap units can be now, i wonder if we will see more events where the point size is reduced below 2000. i would definitely welcome more

It’s certainly a good way to stop everyone bringing the same list that we tend to see at GT’s, there were 3 ork armies there and not one the same!

Interesting the 'max 2 battleline' affects some armies more than others especially with the current meta as it seems most lists don't take a lot of Battleline anyway. However the 'limit of 1 unit' does slow down some lists, like the Orks since most of the time at 1000 points you'd want 2 units of Nobz with Power Klaw (one led by a Warboss, one led by a Painboy) in Trukks as you heavy hitters during the Waaagh turn.

True, but it also helps those that can flooding the table with 100’s of bodies and there being no movement in the game on the smaller table size 😂 Yeh it limited stuff like that, which I quite liked, ment for myself I couldn’t bring 2 units of breachers (which I currently feel are the strongest unit in the army) but also stopped 2 big termie blocks, mega nobz etc

Changing the rules doesn't remove the meta, it just creates a new one. Just because it hasn't yet been defined doesn't mean it doesn't exist. That isn't to say I think this is a bad idea or not fun or anything, just that words mean things and you can't not have a metagame.

Can’t remember the full list but it was a repulsor, a redemptor, 10 assault intercessors, 5 infiltrators, one of the character dreads and 5 other dudes I belive

easiest way to get "no meta gaming" is ban "epic" heroes and cap units at 150 or 200 points, then find a way to bring eldar down

The unit points cap is an interesting thought, would that alone not bring eldar in line with the others?

Why restrict battleline to 2? This cripples a decent portion of my standard tyranid lists, none of which would be exceptionally meta

I believed it was mainly about balance and to encourage different units and prevent either loads of bodies swarming at low points or in the case of knights having loads of little knights just walk over the board, with nids at these restrictions you could still field 6 units @ 20 models each for 400 points so 120 models with 600 points to spare which if I had nids Id have been tempted to do 🤔

😂 not this time, there’s a few extra / replacement rules being thought up for the next one (no epic heroes for example) so it may happen!

@@wargamingrealms I love the fact that no CP re-rolls mean that the underdog can actually flukily kill off a major unit with a ridiculous roll and it can't be reversed! Love the idea around no epics. I don't agree with primarchs on the table anyway just for lore purposes.
