Summary: Excessive alcohol consumption and smoking are associated with brain shrinkage, cognitive decline, and increased risk of dementia and Alzheimer's disease. Quality sleep is crucial for brain health as it facilitates the clearance of plaques associated with neurodegenerative diseases, with optimal sleep duration falling within a range of 7 to 9 hours per night. Loneliness, air pollution, and lack of physical activity also negatively impact cognitive function. However, even small increases in physical activity, such as taking a few thousand steps per day, can significantly benefit brain health, making exercise accessible to everyone regardless of current fitness level. Additionally, exercising in the morning may offer additional motivation and enhance overall well-being throughout the day. Maintaining social connections is also vital for healthy brain aging, as strong relationships contribute to better cognitive outcomes.

very interesting! thank you 1. alcohol damages brain 2. air pollution negative effect is stronger vs positive effect of physical exercise in that area 3. first steps in physical exercise gives the highest benefits

It is possible to be alone and not lonely.
@angelamontgomery900711 ай бұрын
That’s what an introvert is. How about: do you feel more alone by yourself or when in a room with 100 people you don’t know? For me, it’d be the 100 strangers that make me feel lonely.
@redkinghan640811 ай бұрын
@angelamontgomery9007 I think it depends on the people in the room. I enjoy meeting and chatting with people I have not met before and people I do know. However, I also enjoy time alone.

There are so many people in society who do not have a friend/family member who they can confide in or trust. Are we all screwed? 🧠

Hi. I lost my mom to dementia May 9th. Even scarier her sister passed 3 months later from a different kind of dementia. So my family of origin is GONE. That leads me to really work on the diet and exercise but to CONNECTION! I need to get out and try to get some ideas to bring that creatively in. I don’t think we are screwed. I think watching for the root causes leading to that extra sleep too little sleep more than anything.

Seems like correlation, not causation. People who need more sleep due to disorders will sway this dramatically. Doesn’t seem like sound science at all

Evolution is still a theory.

Sure. It's not a hypothesis. In scientific reasoning, a hypothesis is constructed before any applicable research has been done. A theory, on the other hand, is supported by evidence.
