To properly fix this ongoing "problem" would be to keep crowds well back, 15 or 20 feet. Common courtesy is very much in short supply nowadays, so other arrangements must be considered. A simple "thank you" in any language shouldn't be too much to ask either! When did good manners disappear?

Wow. So say you? Is it your horse? I agree that there are many people about But I trust that the Trooper can take care of himself and his horse. The Commander of the Household Cavalry would not put any trooper or horse in danger. So you take care of your horse and let the troopers care for theirs.

Well done that gentleman! I don't understand why more visitors don't speak out when others are making nuisances of themselves. It was only a few members of that large group of teenagers who were taunting the guard, but they spoiled things for the rest, many of whom thanked the Guard after the group photo was taken.

The police are Ministry of Defence police there for security and antiterrorism as Horse Guards is a working military barracks . They are not there to protect the Guards who are soldiers remember , they have eyes everywhere plus cctv , they can and have stepped in if necessary and told groups to leave the premises .

Were none of these kids briefed by their tour guides/parental escorts in basic info about the fact that these were active duty performing their jobs as assigned?!? The signs about horses kicking & biting are woefully inadequate. But it IS a reasonable expectation that a foreign speaking language group would ALSO have guides/escorts FLUENT in reading & writing in that homeland’s language!
