I have looked at the video several times as well as making written notes. Todd's vertical line swing WILL ALSO HELP YOU HIT YOUR IRONS BETTER. I often hit my irons behind the ball & this excellent tip will also cure that fault. I am now concentrating on a more vertical swing for irons as well as woods. Many thanks for HELPING ALL MY FULL SWING SHOTS. It is great to have advice for a typical EXPERIENCED club golfer rather than trying to copy gifted, young professional golfers. Many thanks Todd.

Thanks for that Todd, love your tips. Excuse me if you've covered this before, but do you make any adjustment to ball position for hitting 3 wood off the tee compared to off the fairway? Cheers from Mick, Victoria, Australia 🙂

Thank you for an EXCELLENT, CLEAR, EASY TO UNDERSTAND video on a shot that can ruin your score after a good drive. I asked Todd for help on this shot & he has given us a MOST VALUABLE VIDEO. Great vid Todd. So is it more like an iron back swing? Fairway woods scare me btw and our fairways in Hastings New Zealand are like greens😳😳!
@USGOLFTVshow2 жыл бұрын
Bede, golf question. For most golfers they should feel like their backswing is more in line like an iron vs a driver for their fairway woods. 👊
@morriscarroll50593 жыл бұрын
Todd very interesting recommendations. What I started doing is hitting my 3 wood exactly like I hit my driver...swinging up on the ball through impact...I take almost no divot now and now I get an extra 30 yards.

@USGOLFTVshow3 жыл бұрын
We like the shorter shaft for more control. A 3wd loft off the ground is tough for many players. Have you tried a low lofted hybrid?

A GOLFER'S DILEMMA: You're playing for the club championship. At the end of 17 holes you and your opponent are dead even. You have the honors on the 18th Tee. You drive your ball 250 yards right down the middle of the fairway. Your opponent slices his ball right into the woods. After looking for his ball for several minutes, your opponent looks at you and says: "why don't you go out and hit your second shot, I'll look around for a few more minutes and if I don't find it, I'll go back and re-tee". You go out and hit your second shot. It's on the green 10 feet from the pin. About the time your ball hit the green, from out of the woods your heard: "found it". Balls comes screaming out of the woods, rolls up on the green 3 inches from the cup for a tap in birdie. Here's the dilemma: Do you take the cheating *astard's ball out of your pocket and confront him with it, or do you just keep your mouth shut?

HI Todd, after watching the video on fairway clubs I find the only way I can make good contact is with the ball a little right of center. Is it because I am a shorter golfer 5' 3"
@USGOLFTVshow9 ай бұрын
Height should not play a huge role, typically is it based on swing. We have this covered in our book THE BAD LIE which you can find here if you would like to learn more www.badliegolfbook.com/

I am 70, still in pretty good shape. Had knee replacement on my left knee 10 years ago. While it certainly aided my ability to play pain free, which is awesome, I have difficulty shifting my weight forward causing a loss in distance. It is not a pain thing...my repaired knee just doesn't quite have the flexibility. Any thoughts?

4.5 hdcp here, 3 wood is my least confident club. I have solid contact by moving the ball back in my stance but it also creates a low cut. 110 mph 3W club head spead. Any tips for better launch?

Great question, add a slight upper body tilt away from the target. This will help get the launch up.

Todd, backswings, ball position etc varies among the best players. (hogan said he placed ball inside lead foot) but, all of them keep their weight forward and end up with all weight on lead foot. it appears to me this keeping weight forward a common theme distinguishing good golfers from bad. I have never seen this emphasis in any books or teachers. ie. keeping weight forward. it's not even pointed out. yes they say end up with weight on lead foot but it's not emphasized much. if your weight is forward you can make mistakes and still hit the ball fairly well. if not it doesnt matter where the ball is positioned you are probably going to hit behind it. do you agree? and I wonder why this is not emphases as the single common factor among the best players whereas otherwise they can look quite different.
@USGOLFTVshow2 жыл бұрын
Some good points here. The stack and tilt system likes to keep weight forward throughout much of the swing as you reference. The challenge is one of the best ways to create speed is to shift your weight. This is important for the average golfer.
