Been riding for 25 some odd years and, knock on wood, never wrecked. Seen a lot of riders come and go. Every season there's that one dude wonkin it, pulling nooners, and going way too hard for his/her experience. You'll see em around town and then they're not there anymore. I'm no saint but like you said stay in your limits. I tell people all the time who tag along. Don't ride like me, ride for yourself. Do the carbon fiber.

If riders can't ride at least 20,000 miles in a year, they always ride in front of me, NOT behind me. A man who rode years ago who I'd make ride in front of me kept at me to let him ride rear. I did and he crashed breaking his back and shoulder. LISTEN, the most experienced rider always rides in the rear. PERIOD!!! This is taught in the advanced rider safety class. I've been riding 24 years with 270,000 miles officially logged through the HOG Club and I can tell you're a rider just by what you typed.

Almost 40 years ago I was behind a car on I-5 in the L.A. area and the car in front of me ran over and kicked up an old V.W. Beetle bumper and it landed directly in front of me where I had no way to avoid it and ran it over myself. Luckily I didn't crash but, that is the #1 reason for not trying to look cool riding with one hand. My left hand is never off the handlebar longer than I need to adjust a mirror or maybe flip my visor.

"Be aware of your surroundings"?. That's what mirrors are for ffs!. Keeping both hands on the bars is good advice. If you have to talk with your hands, STFU whilst riding!.

Good riders don't need the handlebars...You can go 200MPH through bumps and turns just holding on to the tank...

Last week I was riding to Durango, Colorado, screwing it down. Passed an unmarked Deputy Sheriff on my Harley. I didn't just pass him, I PASSED him. I heard him with ear plugs in because at that speed and curves there's not supposed to be anybody behind me, so I wasn't looking in my mirrors. Yep, pulled me over, for twenty over, riding free on mountain curves. I hung my head.

How far were you behind the car that kicked up the delineator? At 80-90mph, what was your cushion/following distance?

need to take your own advice buddy 😂 talking about carbon fiber fairings.. never trying to look cool or show off. matter of fact anytime i do something crazy i make sure no one is around. im just a true adrenaline junky.. but average or below average non-track guy talking about carbon fiber is a good indication of how youre always trying to be the cool guy. just ride the thing in your comfort level everyone..

Operator error.. maybe if you weren’t so close you wouldn’t have to worry about it. Just saying, also helps if you pay more attention to the road and not looking at everyone you pass. 🤡
