Dayum, this hit me hard. Your question is actually very hard to answer, at least for me, but if I have to mention one thing I suppose I'd say I'm proud of being a somewhat quick-learner. Still struggling with perfectionism to this very day and I know it's unhealthy. It's easier said than done breaking free from it, but I think being aware of this is a great first step. If everyone could accept themselves for who they were, we'd probably have a lot less mental health issues. We should not improve ourselves because others told us to, but rather because we want to ourselves. The only one you can compare yourself to is yourself, though, that's just my take on it.

My cousin passed away recently, and my Aunt told me something that I never would have thought about him. She told me that he used to hate the way that he looked, and I couldn't believe it, because I used to think he was so handsome... I had a hard time in school. They bullied me from 3rd grade-Junior year. They told me that I was a dog, and that no one could ever like me.. but I grew up, and they did start to like me, because I prayed to God that I would be like the ugly duckling and grow up into the beautiful swan. It doesn't matter now, but I'm grateful for the experience.. it pushes me to fight for anyone else that has to be treated less than because of appearance. One of the things that she said that he hated was his teeth... they're the same as mine, and even, yours, I noticed.. lol. Anyways, I appreciate your messages of hope, love, and kindness, with interesting facts as well. I've been writing my life story, and I hope to succeed in seeing it make a difference in the world. When we first started it, we were living in our car with very little direction, just a huge passion to be successful. We just graduated college as well. We started a cookie shop out of a local bagel shop in their off hours at night. We were living in our car in the parking lot of the shop at the time with my boyfriend, Bran. It was a crazy experience but it worked! We became a success! And how we have our first storefront location (a second launching soon!) Perfection: The condition state or quality of being free of all flaws or defects. I think the actual definition should be: A ten letter work describing something that doesn't exist or, prison. Maybe straight-jacket. See perfection, is a virus, a tumor, a growth, it infects the mind of who attaches itself to, until it eventually, destroys the host. I hate the very word perfection. It has driven me crazy for years guided by fear, I was constantly comparing my self to my peers, stressing and striving to reach some idea that only existed, in here. Oh, you think perfection was real? Well, I disagree. I mean, have you ever seen a perfect tree? In real life have you ever gone into a forest and seen a perfect tree? Nah see they all got a little something going on, some lean this way some lean that way, some have a little too much loss and some got a whole bunch of bark that's been tipped off. . . But somehow, they are all beautiful. But when it comes to people we don't seem to see that we, are all beautiful, in all of our expression. So we dissect ourselves into pieces, judging each other thinking perfection is something we can achieve, which leads us to feeling depleted and defeated but Salvador Dali's said it best: "Have no fear of perfection because, you never reach it" Ladies and gentleman, there are two doors in life. Door number one: be perfect and be admired, or door number two: be real, and be loved. I say choose number two, and choose it quick because life's too short to try to live up to something that doesn't even exist, it makes no sense. So please create your own unique expression, color outside the lines, be the pretzel that refuses to not, be the marbel that doesn't quit roll right, do the dance that nobody's ever seen before and don't worry if people stop and stare. You know I was reading the other day, about a Japanese tradition called Kinsugi. What they do is, if an object breaks they fill the cracks with pure gold because they believe that when something suffers damage and has a history, it is all the more beautiful. So I say love your cracks. You may call it brokenness but it is the way your light will shine through, and if you have no one in your corner, then consider me your supporter and we will smile together, as society tries to diagnose our gifts, as disorders. You don't need to be a perfect person with perfect make up, perfect skills or perfect build, cause the truth is real people aren't perfect, and perfect people aren't real.

Well perfection isn't supposed to be reached, it's a term used to push you towards being the best version of yourself, or doing the best work that you possibly can. On top of that it's subjective. Solar power could for example be the perfect energy source for people in one country, but windmills might be the perfect for another. But you're right, people take perfection too seriously, there's no perfect human being, one without flaws, but to some people the flaws of another person are what you love about them, for example a girl might be chubby, and think that it's a flaw, but to me personally I don't see that as a flaw, I see it as better cuddles. Some people might not like their freckles, but I think freckles are adorable. Some people might have bad acne, but some people will look up to you for accepting it, because they too want to accept themselves. "Flaws" Are the quirks that makes us unique, and some people will love that uniqueness, but you can't please everyone, someone will tease you, some will bully you, but a whole lot of people will love you for who you are, so don't try to hide them behind makeup, or lies, be you.

MarkSKristensen - Well said, BUT there was ONE human who was PERFECT, and walked this Earth! By the standards of the one who created us, Jesus - the Son of God was the perfect solution to correct our "fallen state"! Much like your examples of windmills and solar power. The reason the Son OF GOD is the perfect one to return us (God's creation) to the state of perfection that He had created us to be, is because Jesus could "lower Himself" to become one of us in the flesh and yet still retain His perfect Spirit while in human form. He had to be perfect in order to remove/cover our sin, weaknesses, deficiencies and substandard status that covered all the rest of God's perfect creation from the 1st generation until now and into the future until the time of the new Heaven & Earth. WE CAN be PERFECT!!! But that "perfection" from God is NOT THE SAME THING as what we want to call perfection. God's perfection includes FREEDOM, SATISFACTION, LOVE & PEACE! God's perfection is NOT something you strive, stress & strain to achieve. God's perfection is something you can just HAVE but it COMES FROM GOD who is the unchanging SOURCE of perfection... We just have to choose to get it from GOD - - not try to "make something perfect" ourselves.

I have one talent that have been carried on through my family drawing but it never spoken to me no it didn't my friends tried to convince me it was but when I walked to school time for dance my teacher said ok I replied and when I stepped on to the floor it was like my talent was revealed DANCE! was my talent I didn't know that untill I tried my first attempt I fell to the ground and all my classmates laughed but, my dance friend said it's ok it made my day the second time. I stepped on to the floor I danced my heart out and people said Wow look at her and the best thing was I wasn't perfect, I still fell sure but I returned back up and tried again.

I love kintsugi. the idea that everything is more beautiful for being broken. that we shouldn't hide every scar we gain, because that is our story. I have scars on my face from when I was thirteen and got chicken pox. to this day, no one has asked me out on a date, and sometime I wonder if the pox scars have contributed to that. but I guess... I'm okay with it. because I'm waiting for someone who will take me for what I am. I'm not going to paint over those cracks. I know that true love might be delusional. my parents love each other dearly, and yet they broke up twice. I grew up in a spit household. but...
