I really like how Rachel listens to each caller's problem without interrupting or injecting judgey comments before the caller has finished. She then gives a thoughtful answer tailored for that particular caller, not just a generic, one size fits all answer.

Dr. Meg Meeker has a gentle way of explaining the issues, some of which seem to be intimidating or complex. I have always tried to advocate for teens. I have always said I don't know any adult who became an adult without going through the teen years. It has always been a difficult time in a child's life and it can be hard for the parents, too. However, teens have it so much harder today than I did when I was growing up in the 60s and the 70s.

my aunt always told me I went from kid to adult really fast, mom diagnosed with cancer when I was 9 and passed when I was 14... 95% of the time I'm mature adult and 5% of the time I wanna be a teenager again... so I just go play basketball with the high schoolers, at least it's a healthy teenage behavior haha

My condolences. Losing a mother at a young age is difficult, an understatement. Good for you to find a way to get through the difficult time. To my point, you still had to live out 15, 16, etc. No one goes from preteen to 21 by skipping the teen years. Society would be better off if all adults could put themselves in the shoes of teens. They are trying to hold on and let go at the same time, while trying to figure out where they fit in. Some adults may look back at their teen years fondly and others would never want to repeat those years. I think that is why society, as a whole, does not embrace teens. Too many adults would not want to repeat those years. That makes it all the more necessary to have compassion. Rebellious behavior is hard to deal with, but if teens felt compassion and knew they had support, they would go through that phase and the rebellious phase may be shortened. It is about testing the waters and pushing boundaries. I am glad that Dr. Meeker is a beacon for parents, highlighting Dads, and working with children of all ages.

Question: how is "poverty/poor" defined in the success sequence stats dave mentioned? Is it based on a certain annual income, or net wealth? Ie, by income, i am above the 30k income poverty line. But im not going to lie and say im not broke having student and car loans with a negative net worth.

I have a question which is best to pay down a house weekly or monthly?
@bettedavis9261
@bettedavis9261 Жыл бұрын
The mortgage lender only recalculates the interest monthly on the balance of the principle.
@almmason7
@almmason7 Жыл бұрын
Biweekly is best. Even if they recalculate it monthly, you'll easily, without thinking may make an extra payment annually towards your principal. Have it on auto pay from your bank or it the mortgage company has program that'll tale the money out for you Biweekly. But check with your mortgage company if you need to set it up where you need to pay Biweekly but have to write a note on one of the checks a month or every six months principal only, so at least 2 checks a year goes towards your principal which will pay down your mortgage at least 7 years early on a 30 year mortgage.

Seriously. 3 year old on an Roth IRA and they are still paying debt . Sorry but do folks have no common sense. We just opened Roth IRA for our 11 year old due to he is actually baby sitting his 5 year old brother and other chores Even that he ain’t able to get a full contribution. On top of that we are in our early 40s and are 1.6 mill in net worth (1.1 plus in our retirement ) with no debt is the reason why we think we can do that. 😂
