Franklin, I lost my husband last year to an 18 month cancer battle. He was 43, I was 33 and our two special needs children were 3 and 5. I am so sorry this is happening to your family. It absolutely sucks. I hate cancer. If I can provide some comfort, it’s that I was a spender, but when my husband passed I found great comfort in the Baby Steps (it was actually then when I found them as I went looking for help), and I have made wise decisions for my family since. Go through Financial Peace University with your wife, or if you both can’t bring yourself to do it now, leave her the details for it and the podcasts and books, whichever format works best for her. She will focus when she needs to. Remember to hold and love each other. Take lots of photos and videos. See a therapist trained in this area of grief. All my love from Australia xoxo

God bless the man who called 1:15:00 with terminal cancer. I felt a kick in the gut, if his was found out listening to the show, have mercy. He needs all the help he can get, but the first duck in this row needs to be his wife and those babies. She would be scared if he isn’t the one to tell her. God speed.

The answer to the "sell the motorcycle" question is easy. Sell it! Or you're not likely to live long enough for it make any difference. They're dangerously unstable and all the principles of camouflage apply to motorcycles so they're invisible to car and truck drivers. As a retired Marine fighter pilot I'm accustomed to accepting purposeful risk, but motorcycles have no purpose to justify the risks.

I feel for the lady willing to settle for 10k from the government. It's hard to get a good job after having no work history. I couldn't get over 12k working 39 hours and then got my 4 year degree and made a "whopping" 30k. What Dave didn't take into consideration was at 10k, she probably still qualified for another 8-10k in social benefits/insurance. It's scary for the first 4 years where you lose all that before finally turning the corner.

I saved $3,000 moving to state farm this year... homeowners insurance in FL has gone bananas... no one would insure my 15 year old roof for less than $4k - $5k a year! It was insanity. With a wind mitigation and 4 point inspection we were almost back to our old rates. And we are trying to save for a new roof. :)

This call with Chauni is right on the money. She is worried about losing the benefit which should just go get a $40-$50K job or would a couple jobs. That is more than the $900 a month she gets. I'm sure there is some kind of scale so she wouldnt lose all of it.

We bought a house last year and made 4 total payments in that year . $20,000 went to interest and around $3,000 went to principal. That is all you need to know about borrowing money and having a mortgage lol 😂

Dave I know we over pay California State taxes but my husband is so worried about all the crazy tax laws we have here. Anticipating our State taxes is tough. My husband absolutely refuses to figure it out and we are surely overpaying this year, taking even more extra withholding and the State increased our pre tax payments because we both have side hustle businesses. It is so hard to guess!

On the other hand stop the propaganda, a person can become a millionaire w/ur program but they LIE when 90% have inherited nothing. Their egos are as big as yours and they think it’s something bad, to admit that they inherited some money combined with their blood sweat and tears. Also, my #1 favorite is Crystie Wright, I bought both her books, she’s super smart but I love how she plays you, by combining her good looks and femininity, really fun man !
