That's a cool technique, but if somebody's looking for an amen sample, they probably want that exact sequence and punchiness to chop up.

That’s a fair point! the title was mostly meant to be tongue-in-cheek, I definitely still use amen breaks every now and then too

If I use a break I’ll adjust it to 95% done & then slowly replace all the instruments with my own samples.

The way I see it, if you can imediately recognise the Amen Break at face value then it's boring. But if the break is blended well with other sounds that you don't initially notice it at first, those are the good ones
@stevewoywitka32588 ай бұрын
Technically you need acoustic instruments And from that building the groove, resampling it and chopping up
@canaryworkshop8 ай бұрын
very true - it could actually be quite fun to try and recreate classic breaks as closely as possible!

pitching individual drum hits up and down no more than 30 cents, changing each drum hits length and velocity, then adding some flanger and reverb helps glue it all together too. Also Add some swing for god sakes.

@@12DAMDO cool, but I was under the impression that a lot of DnB layer both the think and the amen. They at least switch between them, then sometimes even have both going or take chops of either and interpolate them
