Hi Yannie,the reason why water dries the hair is because it has a neutral pH. The hair's pH is around 4.5 - 5.5,rain water has around the same pH as hair (that's normal rain water, NOT acid rain). I use rain water in my hair almost every day and have been using it for about a year now. I catch the rain water,strain it,boil it and then strain it again through a cloth,( be sure to test the pH level with a pH strip for safety.) It has my hair soft as a fur blanket, absolutely love it!

I stopped going to a loc stylist because she kept coming them out. My thoughts were, how will it lock if you keep combing my hair out. Then the bell went off (ding ding ding), she was prolonging the process to get more money out of me.

She is stunningly beautiful! I still don't understand why so many locticians these days rake the comb w product through the loc. I feel like its some new age bs to make clients feel dependent on locticians.

Thank you for imparting your wisdom on this channel and we have to pay nothing! LOL This Saturday I will be 7 months on my loc journey. I started from 2 strand twists and folks, including my loctician are amazed at the transformation of my locs. Everyone ask me what did I do and I say legit nothing. I leave my hair alone. I have never done a style and don't see myself doing one any time in the future.Since I am early in the journey I get my hair retwisted every 6 weeks but not down the whole shaft, just the roots. I don't mind frizzy hair(shoot my hair was frizzy when I was a loose natural) so I can care less about that. My hair locs are thick and healthy and you can't even see the 2 strand twist pattern. I rarely oil my scalp only when needed and my scalp tells me. I mist my hair with either rose water or aloe vera juice with vitamin e oil. I wear a bonnet/scarf always at tnight and even when I am just lounging in the house. Once my hair matures to a year, I intend to twist my hair maybe 3 to 4 times a year. This was the best decision I made with my hair besides going completely natural and most of the info I got from your insight. Again, thank you so much!!

Her locs are gorgeous. Thanks for the video. I was brushing my locs 1x a week for at least a 3 months. I stopped and noticed how I like it fuzzy versus flat. The flat look was getting thin at the edge. So lesson learned, everything is good now🖤

When I saw the title of this video... I immediately felt vindicated!!! I just recently came across a bunch of tik toc/ Instagram videos talking about the benefits of “ brushing “ your locs. The very first thing I thought was... the reason I loc’d up in the first place was to completely eliminate the necessity to maintain my hair with combs and brushes. As a matter of fact, I stopped using brushes on my loose natural hair years before finally loc’ing up. So... thank you so very much for being the one voice of reason and rational in a sea of misinformation and disinformation. I also believe that there is a great deal of people in the Loc’d community that are loc’d for superficial reasons opposed to having them for spiritual enlightenment and connecting holistically to their roots. This may also be the reason why people have not fully embraced the natural beauty of having Raw Loc’s ( sans gels and a bunch of other products to maintain and style their locs ). That’s why I greatly appreciate the disrespectful locs as you call them !!! 😄 Thank you again for blessing us with your truth and wisdom!!! 🙏🏾 *edited* I hadn’t even watched more than 3 minutes of the video when I first commented. Then I saw you talking about the origins of Locs in the Holy Book ... and how locs from a Spiritual place are maintained...🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 ❤️💯

I'd just like to say thank you for all your suggestions of how to maintain locs. I've been storking you for over a year now! I've been loc'd for 7 months with my second set of locs which I maintain for myself as I had a bad experience with a loctician over 6 years ago. I have been listening to your advice and I'm enjoying the process. I love the Jamaican black castor oil which I use to retwist and oil my roots. I also use the rose water with vitamin e oil mixture to moisten my ends this has helped a lot through these cold months. Please continue to bless us with your knowledge.

Does she ever show the technique she uses to retwist he client’s loc? She says all the time that she doesn’t twist or palm roll the hair but she doesn’t show what she does do. If her technique is better for the hair, I know people would like to see it so they can use that technique on their hair as well.
@YannietheLocologist4 жыл бұрын
Never have I ever said my technique is better for hair. I don't have a "my technique". I've always said in many of my videos "ALL TECHNIQUES ARE BAD FOR HAIR"and that my videos "ARE NOT ABOUT TECHNIQUES". And I've also said MANY TIMES "use whatever technique you want to use on your locs". There are 100s of people on KZbin that do locs and do toturals on "techniques", if that's the type of video you're looking for by all means you should subscribe to their pages so you can learn it. Bless.
@mlbradle4 жыл бұрын
Yannie the Locologist This didn’t need to turn into a disagreement over verbiage. When I say “technique” I’m referring to the way YOU do your client’s hair, but I’m sure you knew that. If your channel is about teaching your viewers how to maintain healthy hair (locs), I would think you would not only tell them what to do or not to do but SHOW them as well, even if it is your way of doing it. At the end of the day, we all know it is our decision how we choose to take care of our hair. GOD BLESS!
