STOP Using Harvesting Tools WRONG in Guild Wars 2

If you are using Harvesting tools in Guild Wars 2, then you are probably using them wrong. This is a quick video to show you how you can use them to maximize your gold per harvest that you do off of any of the gathering tools.

I have to add that recently they have been giving away 3 selectable glyphs with each special gathering tool. As long as you see the black lion glyph selection boxes in the bundle you don't have to wait for the volatile magic tools to be on the store to get the effect.

Just to add...the other person thought it was the vermillion ones only....but really they changed it to every bundle that they sell(one of each tool) has 3 boxes that you can choose the glyphs you want.

I think there's always an argument of time saved vs passive income. I don't generally bother harvesting all nodes, but with one of the (cheaper) glyphs that saves time instead of giving extra resources, my income increases because I'm losing less time by harvesting everything. Glyph of the Timekeeper is very underrated for this, especially as it seems to be bugged into triggering more often when dismounting, and Glyph of the Crucible will double (Mithril nodes) or treble (Elder Wood nodes) your income from the most common level 80 nodes.

Plant nodes produce or contain (semantics) more volatile magic per sickle swing, compared to single pick/axe swing. Total amount per node (plant/ore/wood) will be the same.. unless you are dealing with special plant nodes, where each swing produces triple results (GH nodes, some of LS plant nodes), while it is still a single swing, the glyph activates trice. Just a small correction.

One thing I wish I knew before buying multiple unlimited tools, WvW lounge pass has a tool seller with glyphs for karma. They break but buying one pass for all kinds of tools as a bonus would have been cheaper than 3 sets of unlimited.

Unless you play ALOT, you'll probably never make back that money spend on infinite gathering tools, even with good glyphs. But I am fine with that. Not having to worry about gathering charges is a comfort I like. I just wish infinite gathering tools worked like stuff in the legendary armory, so I didn't have to drag it into shared inventory slots every time. Wich is another point of complaint: Without shared inventory slots (wich are expensive), using infinite gathering tools becomes a hassle for everyone who ufrequently jumps between characters.

Equip every character with some low level gathering tools so you can at least just double click the infinite gathering tool in the shared inventory slot. :D

Lol I "solved" this issue by buying a lobby pass and putting it in one of the shared slots And parking right next to the bank NPC When I'm about to log out, I'll get my character, I'll unequip the tools and glyphs,place them in the bank Log in with another character (already in the lobby) ready to pick up the tools and get things moving

Having all the LW nodes in your home instance (plus a couple of black lion plots for kale- or the primer herbs) goes a long way to adding some volatile/unbound magic. Don't forget your guild nodes too, especially if you have different tiers of nodes in different guilds.

I would say that my favorite glyphs are alchemy for the T6 mats. Bounty for the harvest,get those varietals and leather. The watchword glyph is a good alternate to plug in

Look I got my gathering tools from the Shop Before they made the glyphs. And I only have the speed glyph on my pickaxe. Need to save up for the volatile magic ones.

Could be interesting to point out that glyphs are different from runes and sigils and that they can be manually removed from the gathering tool just by right clicking on it and choosing the option, and that the glyph should NEVER be overwritten like a rune or sigil by another glyph. Took me a while to find that information at first when I got my first infinite gathering tool with a glyph slotted in it.

@@xGuiders Nah, thankfully I searched beforehand if there was an item to use in order to remove glyphs like the extractors for runes and sigils and found out that the glyphs can just be removed and swapped without additional costs.

What i did for months i got 3 of each gathering tools with different gliphs like the ones that make you get higher materials or lower to farm wood ore and so on top of this with mechanist tons for perma qickness 1 - Equip any basic gathering tools 2 - Buy shared slots and put the unlimited gathering tools in them now you switch between them account wide for all characters

They can be account wide if you equip basic gathering tools for all your characters >> Buy 3 shared slots >> Put unlimited tools in them now you switch back and force easy for all your characters you dont need to buy anymore tools

If you equip a character with a cheap gathering tools you can switch back and force with the unlimited gathering tools in the shared slot just make sure you switch back before switching any character@@soozikins

I don't harvest very much cause I'm too impatient to wait for the animation and I'm perfectly fine just buying the mats I need from the TP. I also feel like the perma tools are really pricey even though I'm really rich in game. But since I don't harvest much and I have over 600 laurels I never use on anything, I am A okay spending 2 laurels on the laurel vendor harvesting tools and I use the glyph that increases the speed of my harvesting (industrious?) lol

Not buying infinite tools out of principle. I am not paying for circumventing a game mechanic. The game mechanic either makes sense and you let it be or you patch it out. Selling a solution for a problem, that was created by game design is scam.

Its not a problem though, its a convenience. Just like anything in real life 🤷‍♂️ If I want a "better" service in a hotel, I have to tip the concierge, the bag guy, etc. I can still spend time in the hotel, but If i want to get a convenient service, I have to tip, because that's just how it works sadly. Same thing applies here, we want convenience, we have to pay, otherwise we have to deal with the breaking tools, thats my opinion

@@xGuiders Do you think, that the tool mechanic improves the game experience? If not it is bad design. Obviosly this can be subjective, but I don't think it is a valuable mechanic in mmos, it is rather something for survival games.

Besides I don't compare guild wars 2 to other mmos, because I don't only play mmos and that cash shop money can be used to buy entire games.

Yes but this gathering tools are not available in the gemtore every time, ooo super cool you just need to farm like 800 gold for the tools, but oooo I forgot the 3 gliphs witch have a cost of 1.200 gold you just need a total of 2.000 gold, very easy an reasonable price, the problem is that I'm already broke bicose a buy all the living world seasons wich have higher cost, the definition of GW2 is this : FARMING AND BURNT AUT gw2 devs : ooo wy gona make this item, but wy gona make you suffer for haurs to get it
