thanks for this excellent work. I would like very much for you to research and update the times. I am not into animation cancellation and I am more often than not just out in open world mining single nodes as opposed to rich ones - would love your comparison to take that into account. cheers

i really wish anet would unify the cast times for all the gathering tools so their sales can actually focus on the cool animations they have.. instead of simply which is faster or how many times it strikes rich nodes. like their are certain ones i may want to get for their style, but feel put off to it because a boring one might cast faster. good informative video though

Thanks! And I actually completely agree with your point! Some of the cooler animations take rather long compared to the faster/fastest ones. I sometimes switch them for the look, but it's still irks me.

Count me in on the Gathering Krewe :D Because I am old and slow, with eyes that don't respond well to the flashing visuals in this game, the usual group content gold farms are definitely not fun for me - whereas a leisurely couple of hours gathering really is!

Great video. Well researched and concise. What do you considered the absolute best build for gathering? Deadeye with perma stealth?

Either deadeye with perma-stealth and Relic of Unseen Invasion (superspeed when stealth ends) or Scrapper with Elixir U and all gyros with Relic of the Chronomancer (gain quickness when using well skill). It's a toss up between both for me, one day I lean the former, another day the latter.

Sadly, no. I have a good amount in my bank, but without an actual addon, it'd be really annoying. Especially when comparing to MarsEdge's original research (which you can find on the fast website too), I'd have to start from scratch, as they made a plugin for ArcDPS

So after watching 100,000 videos about gathering tools, my conclusion is: buy unbound set (unbound logging and mining have fastest animations) with volatile magic glyphs, and fused molten sickle just for the skin/animation for plants. Sound about right?

That's the general consensus, yes. The consortium harvesting sickle is as fast as the fused molten one, should that be easier to obtain (although the molten might be available for statuettes). There are a couple of other combos possible that are nearly as good (we're talking milliseconds here) if you don't want to buy the set, but with it coming with selectable glyphs, it's one of the best values out there.

@ just curious what makes the unbound mining and logging faster? I mean is the animation really faster or or does it mine more strikes or is it cancelable or what?

question, if I buy the Infinite Volatile Magic Gathering Tools set and add the unbound glyph, will I gather volatile magic and unbound magic when I gather?

No, Pretty sure they are only called Volatile Magic gathering tools because they are sold with the volatile glyph in them :)

You'd only gathering unbound magic, indeed. The unbound glyph would replace the volatile one (with the latter being sent to your inventory).

I'd say so based on the information we have, especially every since the glyphs were changed to these new containers. If at any point you want a faster sickle, you could also get the molten one for 25 statuettes.
