Keeping them in your gloves keeps them from getting access to all of the oxygen that they need to react (get hot). Keeping them in your warm truck gives them access to all the air they need but even just leaving them out in the open will work better than going straight into the gloves. I like to keep them in my pockets and give them a shake every so often for 5-10 minutes till they're all warmed up

Thank you so much for explaining how to use them properly. I didn’t think a lot of people even I don’t really know these tricks. 😊 I just thought they would get lukewarm at best.

This is so stupid. All you have to do is make sure the stuff inside is rubbing against each other. That's literally how they get hot. I can get them hot in less than 1 minute. Take two hands hold packet from each side. Take thumb and pointer finger and instead of shaking find stuff inside and rub it together frantically. I never knew anyone had an issue with these, I actually like these less over the others because they get too hot.

If I had a warm car to leave them in... I would warm my hands in the warm car.

His tip is geared towards people who have a home or car yet ALSO have to go out in the elements for one reason or another. So his tip is basically to rev up the Hot Hands while in said car or home, and then go out in the elements to work/play/hike/etc.

Also, if you did have a car, you still would want to find alternate ways to warm yourself instead of constantly turning on the car. First off, gas is expensive; secondly idling is very hard on car engines, which can eventually be extremely expensive; and thirdly, carbon monoxide is a very real risk when sitting in a stationary car with the heat on.

@@DannyD-lr5yg Did you listen to the video? He says right at the start that they work if you leave them in a warm car. Logically, forget the hand warmers and warm yourself in said warm car. In short, they are useless. In my experience... they are completely useless, because yes... you don't need them in a warm place. Despite this he makes a whole useless video. I do not advocate running your car just to warm your hands.

@@fredhubbard7210 You’re missing MY point. I’m saying: if you have a warm car, it’s ideal to use the warm car SOMETIMES, but then switch to turning off the car and using hand warmers instead. To put it even more simply for you: a car is not a viable solution for continuous warmth, so hand warmers are a great stopgap.
@fredhubbard7210

@@DannyD-lr5yg You are right... I don't get your point. These things are useless... Are you from Florida? Where I work they hand them out for free, and nobody uses them, not even when working outside all day when the temperatures drop to -40˚. If you are stranded in your car... you better do something more than hope these help you. And never did I suggest that running your car all day to keep warm was a good idea. The only time I would use them was if they were piled 2 ft deep in the back of my van... and my van had broken down... and an aircraft was on it's way to rescue me!

Yea I can confirm this, last weekend was racing dirtbikes and ended up camping out at the track, was like 10 degrees, i planned on watching a movie until 9:30 in my truck running out and putting them in my sleeping bag and giving them 30 mins to heat up. Kept 3 in my truck and put 8 in my sleeping bag. Went out and the ones in my truck were too hot too touch and the ones in my sleeping bag didn’t heat up fully until 40 more mins of me laying on them. It’s not about oxygen it’s about heat retention. Ended up not needing any of them because i under estimated my sleeping bag-teton sports sleeping bags ftw

Bro, its because they cant get air (oxygen)... if you blow on it you might even notice that it gets warmer.. The powder inside rusts which gives off heat

I love these things. As a commercial HVAC technician who’s always on rooftops in 10 degree weather, these things are my best friends. I keep a few in my coat pockets and when you have multiple bundled, they get so much hotter.

If I want one in my pocket, I’ll use the hand version but if I’m going to put it in my glove I buy the Toe Toasties and stick them to the inside back of the glove so they stay put and don’t interfere with my grip.

If a vehicle is not available just being in your coat pocket were they get air and retain some heat before going into gloves makes a good difference aswell. And air exposure to these things is like a throttle for the fuel source. Stay warm y'all 👍

No... You need to place them in the centre of a towel and fold it tightly, then place it in the microwave for 60 seconds and leave it to sit for a further 60 seconds before you remove them. If you're lucky, you can use them upwards of three times (although the packaging says otherwise).

I recall trekking with Yukon Cornelius for gold in Adak Alaska. It was cold. About - 70 FC. This polar bear came up behind us and ate all our Grabber hand warmers. We ran and ended up walking across the Beirung Straight where Syberian Eskimos greeted us. We drank, and ate seal soup. That's when the KGB arrived and asked us something about balloons and some senile leader. Eventually they chilled and started talking about the Sputnik and Dolf Lundgren. This story isn't going as planned so....bye.
