Sweet little bird - good luck with him (or her?) such a cutie pie. I just buy leather strips and materials to make my own toys. I am not very trusting of dollar stores since they had some bad press about the heavy metals or something bad in their toothpaste (China), so it makes me wonder about anything else they have including painted things (what's in the paint -- and most of dollar store comes from China -- even some of China's costume jewelry has been found to have cadmium -- yikes - now THAT is scary ?) But I love your wood toys and the rope idea !!

Aw you love your birds. I love your ideas! I have four cockatiels. Three of them males and one female because we used to have more so we know by who they were mating. When you buy a bird they should tell you the sex of the bird. The males from my experience are more aggressive and the females act just the way we ladies should act. The birds I have now are 15 years old. Enjoyed your video thanks!

I’m a young teen and I can’t make a lot of money so I’ve found diy is the way to go! My birds have never really liked the expensive plastic/non shreddable toys anyways but they love the toys I make with paper and other safe things :)

Raising bird isn't hobby it is a privilege. Specifically bonding with the bird. That love and trust you gain from your bird if you could is hardship work. But making toys I do that too while my bird watches me free flying in my room.

omg a quaker! they’re so cute. i love their puffy cheeks and mischievous black eyes. sadly, they’re not allowed in california. these are ingenious tips which i cannot wait to implement to my daily bird mom routine. some other suggestions i have include stuffing brown paper lunch bags with papers, straws, and treats for more foraging enrichment and buying cheap cork stoppers in bulk, hiding treats in them, and stringing them up around the house (also great for encouraging mobility!) you can also buy large dog snuffle mats for a reusable toy and hide seeds in various spots to simulate ground foraging behavior for parrots whose wild conspecifics naturally do so (like cockatoos). but it would be engaging for any parrot species. i believe there are places you can get small cardboard boxes for free which you can then place a stainless bowl of pellets inside for more challenging foraging opportunities. to make it even more difficult, you can wrap the bowl in paper and secure it with a rubber band or string so the bird has to unravel two things before it can get its meal. also, stainless steel baffle cages and the rings of fortune toy i think are some must have indestructible options. if you want materials to build your own bird toys, my safe bird store has lots of resources most of which come in several sets for a dollar or under. if you feel like splurging, i recommend the sockatoo. you can make something similar at home just by cutting small holes into a large clean and dry sock and filling it with whatever you want. i’ll edit this comment if i remember anything else. great vid 🙌🏻

Grab some pieces of paper put Millet on his favorite tree inside of it and crumble up a couple small pieces of course with the tree in it and then string it up like a necklace for a foraging toy and yeah you're on a totally right track cuz you can come up with so much stuff to make for your birds I find those windmills at the dollar store and just stuff paper in there little not even half inches smaller pieces all up in it so they can just pull it out pull it out pull it out and give him something to do because for drinking and destroying things and playing with toys is the best enrichment we can give them since they are captive birds but I own five birds they're all team team mutated love birds one is yellow orange white with a green tint and her name is butters then I have a lovebird that is her buddy who is dark blue baby blue black gray white and purple then two cockatiels that are stuck at the hip together they're two females they're both sisters and my pineapple conure rocket oh and the cockatiels names are BB and mighty a rose-breasted Cockatoo and I do stay at home and I've had my birds for years now they do take a lot of my attention and time and get jealous of each other but I would love to add one more bird a Indian ringneck or ecliptice bird there are really amazing bird but which one do you think kind of think the Indian ringneck would be the best choice but I totally love your bird I love Quakers that's a Quaker correct very nice color I love the green and I love the blue but I think the green ones are prettier but it's so hard to tell I have a friend that just got Sierra parakeets they are not really well known birds when they are totally awesome love to spin around you flips and yes I only have my birds go in their cage in the night so they have their whole own room too with rope that I actually find at the dollar store and hang up and if I have to braid it to make it thicker for them to hold on to it that's fine because it's so cheap to buy a big huge thing of rope to hang and then sometimes boxes every few feet on the rope that they like to go into and then come back out and keep scaling on the rope as you keep building that room up you'll see what works for you but a great job looks amazing give yourself a pat on the back and keep up the great work I wish you many many happy years with you and your feathered baby and I wish you good health Good Fortune and happiness sending love from AZ
