Hi Jade, I’m Steve, a hubby, and helping my wife do her root regrown after she made a big mess and her hair is now breaking! I found your explanations excellent and you covered those annoying issues that many just gloss over. You also very real showing yourself and not some model in a salon. Thank you from the hubbies and helpers out there!

@@sweetcheeks5775 do ubhave any idea how much it costs to just have your regrowth for platinum blond done at a halfway decent place? I've never paid less than $200 for roots or $500 for whole head! And that is when my hair was just past shoulders. My hair is almost to my waist now and the quote I got 5 months ago was $600

This was such a wholesome comment. My husband's also a hair helper! Ever since my hair started getting too long for me to really do the touchups/highlights properly on my own without the risk of bleach overlap. "Teamwork makes the dreamwork" has such corny "live, laugh, love" energy but I can't deny the truth of it!😆 Here's to all the spouses that roll up their sleeves and help us DIY stylists on our neverending blonde-ing adventures! 😂👍

Hello lady, my hair got seriously burnt due to bleaching and I thought I’d had to go brunette (From a beautiful platinum color) because my hair had no salvation. I waited for 4 months, my hair started growing a lot and I came through your videos. I took a chance, follow every single advice and voila. Got my roots platinum again. Thank you so much.

Hey there I’m in the same boat, I had my hair platinum but had to get it brunette (my natural shade) for 3 months now just to let it get healthier. It’s doing much better now and I’d love to go back to the silver blonde I had in it, although I did a test strand last night and the root of my hair that has grown out only lifted to a orange colour (the bottom of the hair lifted great). So how did you achieve the platinum blonde again? Will I have to bleach the root twice? Any help would be really appreciated, thank you xx

I'm a cosmetologist also and I wanted to applaud you on this video... you're so so so thorough. It's great! The only thing that I wanted to know that wasn't mentioned was what volume you use when doing the virgin application. I was thinking 20 on the outer part and 10 on the scalp. Or should it just be 20 on the outer, wait, and then 20 on the scalp? I've only been doing hair for about a year and blondes are tricky. Lol

Hey hun! Aw thank you so much! I just use 20vol thought the whole application. i haven't actually tried it with 20 & 10vol (give it a go if you want to) but yeah for me 20vol has always been great =D All the best with your career hun! Yeah i know blondes can be so hard! xx

Jade, I was just about to give up on doing this at home because of encountering so many poorly executed videos; no confidence in those. Thank you for being so professional in your delivery. I have a question, though, as my hair is cut very close on the sides and back, and a little longer on top. Just gonna put it out there.. I've been platinum blonde for 5 months now.. And blonde for 2 years.. Bleach and peroxide was a walk in the park for my scalp compared to a tint! Tint absolutely killed my scalp. I'd sit there with a tail comb to use it to scratch my scalp.

Very informative video. THANK YOU. I did my own hair for years after having a disaster perm in the 90s. I then met a friend who I trusted to do my color/highlights, and have been repeatedly disappointed with the results ("leopard spots"). She uses bleach with foils and heat. I have decided to do my own (hence the video searches) and would like to clarify that you recommend 20 volume developer with bleach to scalp application? I do own a salon dryer and could use that, but I don't want to use heat if I don't need it. I will be using your coconut oil recommendation (thank you for that!). I also saw a video where a girl used conditioner just past the new growth bleach application to avoid damage. I will purchase some 20 volume if you confirm that recommendations and set the 40 aside. Thank you in advance for your reply, and again, thanks for all the great tips!

Every time I go to salon for my bleaching, my scalp burns severely. I thought it was part of the process. Ppl keep telling me it shouldn’t burn, but mine always burns intensely. I have very sensitive skin, but high pain tolerance. So I’m not sure what is a tolerable amount of pain. This last time (my third root touch up some far), my scalp received damage and has scabbed in multiple places. What should I do? If the bleach gets washed out due to burning, how can I keep the roots blond? 😢

Thank you Jade for this tutorial pretty girl. I'm going to have to give mines a go myself due to lockdown. I believe they use (bleach plus 6%) on my hair, so I have purchased Schwarzkopf (Blond Me) products - 9+ powder, & 6%/20 Vol developer. I've never ever tackled my own hair root growth ever before but will give it a go. Going by your tutorial & other tutorials, I see there's always a toner used at the end. I'm not aware of my hairdresser ever using a toner unless it's something they do use in the washbasin at the final rinse, but they know I'm not a fan of purple shampoos etc, & I'm pretty sure they don't use toner on me at all, just using normal shampoo although I'm not 100% on that lol. Thank you so much for your perfect instructions & sketched diagram. I'll pass this video tutorial onto my hubby as he's the one who's gonna have to take the plunge on my hair lol. Wish me luck, yikes. Thank you so much Jade. xx

I tried this at home, great advice, but my hair turned orange. This is completely my fault not yours, I just need to know what to do in this situation. I have natural medium brown hair, I only bleached about 4 inches of root growth (as the rest of my hair is bleached same colour as you) leaving the inch near the scalp until last which worked out fine, everything looks even, i used coconut oil. I used 20 volume and bleach powder and left it on for 1hr after dying hair (which took 1hr 25mins to dye) so I am unsure where I have gone wrong. My hair is really good quality and it's been a week. Should I dye it again with 20vol and bleach powder like last time? as that way it will lift my hair even more? Or should I be using a type of hair toner? I already used a good purple shampoo straight after and left it on for 20mins and also used a hair mask straight after for 30mins. I usually go to the hair dressers but it costs nearly £200 each time, so I wanted to try this at home. Please help any advice on where i could have gone wrong or if to try and lift it again with bleach and 20vol.

Have you tried a gentle bleach shampoo? If you are worried about the strength/weakness in your hair it might be a more gentle way to lift whats left

Hello, I’m a licensed Master Cosmetologist. It looks like you have a lot of breakage around your hairline. And I’m seeing a lot of color variation between your roots and ends. Not good. I suggest using ION cream lightener on your roots with a 30 volume developer. Keep an eye on processing time to about 1 hour. Tone with desired color toner using 10 volume with toner. Apply to roots first and then move to ends for the last 10 minutes of processing time not to exceed 30 minutes. Be sure to use a Reconstructer such as Aphogee one a month. Always use Moisturizer shampoo and conditioner to keep hair well hydrated. Please let me know how this works out for you. Best wishes… 🙏💕☮️😊

Hi!! I’m so so happy to have ground your channel !! I have watched so many videos on this and yours in by far the absolute best! I have a unique situation and could really use some advice please I’m pretty desperate Bleached hair, covid hits my roots grow so so long. With a friends advice who does hair I bleached it 2 times and toned With t18 wells I ended up with being so close but still too yellow. I have waited a month and it’s been ruff lol So now I have small amount of dark roots that I know if it was just that it would be perfect but I also have the part yellow still. So my question is the application. Do I do all the yellow parts first and then go to roots? Or do I do it all at the same time? Thank you so so much I’m advance and thank you for doing what you do! Much love Colleen

my natural hair/regrowth is level 1 or 2 dark black. professional stylists tend to mess up the process more often than not, and don't lift the regrowth to a light enough blonde. sometimes they only lift it to a light brown copper, and it's ridiculous even with toner. they insist on using 30vol when I basically beg them to use 40vol. Sometimes they mix some 40 into the 30vol mix to make it a bit stronger. What is a girl with naturally pitch black hair to do, when she wants platinum blonde hair? My hair is mostly platinum, but every time its time to do my roots, it's always a mess and i have to fix it after...the struggle. I think i'll just do it myself and use 40vol... ugh i dont know what to do.
@Jade_fawkes10 жыл бұрын
BleedingxRainbow i feel your pain! i would suggest doing 2 lots of 20vol or 30vol applications! do 1, let it process, rinse it off, dry your hair, then apply the second application! remember your scalp will be super sensitive the 2nd time round- so just keep an eye on it!

I'm getting ready to do another lightening session on my hair. I'm doing it myself because i don't have the time or money to spend at the salon. My hair is currently about a level 6/7 and I have about 1" of regrowth that is about a level 3. I picked up a box of Loreal Paris Excellence Cream in the color light ash blonde, to help avoid brassiness. Obviously, I do my roots first but how long should I let that process before doing the rest of my hair? Please don't leave hateful comments, I'm not a professional but I do quite a bit of research before touching my hair.
@Jade_fawkes7 жыл бұрын
Hey Hun! Sounds like you have picked up a tint colour? ( If it's in a tube then it's a tint colour- I've never used any or L'Oréal products so I'm not 100% sure) if you are wanting a super light result the tint colour probably won't be strong enough to cut through a level 3's underlying pigments. Bleach powder products will usually give you a better result over tint products. Also the tint Product will not work on the rest of your hair as it is already coloured- tint on tint won't lift. Bleach is the best bet Hun.

Hi ive bleached my hair from brown I got nice white colour except the roots they are a very light orange not sure wat to do my hair is very weak i put toner on still the same and I done purple shampoo what can I do with out my hair breaking off. Thanks lisa.
@Jade_fawkes4 жыл бұрын
stop everything. do not do any more colours, toners, don’t use heat and be extremely careful when your hair is wet and when brushing it. sadly if it’s started breaking off there is nothing you can do to prevent it. going from brown to white is a LONG process that can take months if you want to maintain the health and integrity of your hair. yes, you can push your hair and do it in a day- but you could end up loosing majority of your hair. get yourself some Olaplex stand alone treatments, and their home care- get a good haircut to remove everything that’s breaking and wait. wouldn’t recommend colouring your hair for at least 6 weeks. build up the hairs integrity and go from there. all the best 💕💕💕

I didn't want to damage them any more, but now I have half dark brown and half orange roots. any suggestions? thanks!
@Jade_fawkes10 жыл бұрын
Kristen Milosh ok so im guessing you have existing colour in your hair? and you had some regrowth? usually the bleach bath will lighten more on hair that hasnt got any existing colour (hence why your roots turned orange) if you want all your hair to be dark brown, then you will need to get a colour that is the same of your ends and apply it on your roots only- to cover the orange xx

I use 30 volume but I have very dark brown hair, probably a number 2 or 3 on your scale. Im wondering, i have bleached hair thats probably two colors from platinum. Im trying to get to platinum but I have a little over an inch of regrowth. I understand from your video how to rebleach my growth but what about trying to lighten the current blonde more? Can I cover everything at the same time i covered my scalp? Or is that too much processing time for the current blonde?
@HeatherHebisen3 жыл бұрын
So I lightened my whole head a day ago and I did it the proper way starting from the back with thin slices in foil leaving out 1/2 inch to come back and around and finish up with lightener but I have a couple of spots that didn't lighten as much as I wanted like all the rest it's been a few days but I'm going to give it a week to come back to it but in the mean time I'm doing olaplex treatments and coconut oil masks just to give it some love before putting more bleach on it. I used 30vol previously because my hair is stubborn to lighten so should I use 20vol for the 2nd go around or 10vol also should I use foils or no?

Obviously with lockdown my previously full head highlighted hair has got some major regrowth n it's seriously doing my head in!! I want to go a pastel pinkish colour. My regrowth is around 2 inches ish so what would the best method be as can't wait until hairdressers are open again as don't know when that will happen!!!! And short of money for them sadly!!!! My length of hair has gone yellowish now so I know that would need toning to get it lighter but what's the best way so I don't end up with the dreaded line lol, sorry for the long comment... It’s really difficult to bleach half then have to have her wash her head before I do the other half so the bleach doesn’t sit for too long. Is there any advice about how to do this on very thick hair?

I had that same question too, I have very thick hair, and I saw a video with Josie Vilay in BTC university Explaining how you can play with developers she use a lower developer in the back of the head and a higher one in the front.

Itzel Melissa Gomez Thanks! I will look for that video. Also I found that if I do the very bottom in the back last it doesn’t matter as much. It can be the least bleached and doesn’t show.
@bayareababe2 жыл бұрын
@@DR-tv9lg you need to use a lower developer on the roots and a higher one for the mids/ends. Always Start at the back. Remember it’s always 2:1 ratio. 2 parts developer 1 part bleach. Start with this formula starting at the nape/back of your head and move up. Scalp -40g bleach + 80g 7vol Mids/ends (leave the very ends out until the very end if you are bleaching for the 2nd time to avoid breakage) 50g bleach + 100g 20vol With this method, Since you’re starting with 7vol on the scalp you can apply everything at the same time. The 7 vol is much slower acting and gentle, so even though it’s being applied to your warm scalp, it’ll process at the same pace as the 20vol that you’re applying to the mids/ends. Make sense?

If I have a couple inches of regrowth and I need to do the virgin application how do you recommend applying it without foils? I figure it might be hard to keep the first round of bleach sections from getting on each other before going back to do the roots to scalp. Also how long should you process in between both sessions would you just split the time into two for each session?

How do you get rid of the heat band? I have about a centimetre of virgin regrowth and a bit of a heat band in my hair from a previous touch up which didn't lift enough. My hair is naturally a level 6, which may be the reason why and I probably didn't leave the bleach on long enough.

Should I use 30 volume for bleaching and 20 for toning? I’ve done it before or do you think all around 20 is good?
@devonwright21Күн бұрын
20 should be good for everything. 30 is very harsh and can cause more damage than needed

Hello I have bleached my hair one time which gave me a copper colour, have kept it for three weeks to give it a rest but want to bleach a touch lighter so I can get a light beige blonde colour . Should I re-bleach with roots first and then length or vice verse because I don’t want to leave the bleach on a long time. My previous bleach job the lengths took the bleach super quick and the roots did not take colour as good so they stayed a little dark.

I know that this an stupid question but the bleach damages a lot the hair so I'm afraid that I can end up being bald, could that happen?
@Jade_fawkes9 жыл бұрын
I'm multifandom It could if you bleach it every day and use a high level of peroxide! if you wait a few weeks between bleaches and use a lower level of peroxide and always read the Manufactures instructions you will be fine!

This is a really good video! It helped me a lot. I have a question, I saw the video after doing what you said not to .-. Now I have a big yellow line (about one inch long) and I don't know how to get it off. I tried toning with purple shampoo and it didn't do anything. Any tips? Thank you!
@ashekai25458 жыл бұрын
Purple shampoo or toner won't lift very much if it's a yellow line. Is it like a copper-ish tone? You might have to lift it another level or so then tone it.

So glad I found this video. Just bleached my hair to try to get it like my picture but it's a bit on the orange side. It was on for 50 minutes and I was a scared to leave it any longer but feel I might have taken it off too soon (didn't lift enough). I think I might do a bleach bath. My question for you would be should I do that at the same time as I touch up my roots in some weeks? Or should I just touch up my roots and try using a lighter toner on the rest? Thank you in advance!

buttarikan5 hey hun! what colour was your hair before you bleached it? xx
@buttarikan59 жыл бұрын
My hair is naturally a dark brown. However, I do have some red in from a box dye I did months ago. We're talking about an inch of hair at most. That's where most of it wants to look a bit orange. The toner I used was T27 Wella Color Charm.

Also should be noted, I have short hair just like my picture. So most of the hair is new unprocessed growth. Thanks so much!

+buttarikan5 Hey buttarikan5 ! i have bleached my hair the last months and what i do is that i bleach one day for 40-50 mins top, but it is never enough, so next day i repeat, i bleach again my roots but for 30-40 mins tops and then i dye it or tone it. Later i use a all the hair mask i have or conditioners because my hair will be super dry. But that usually get me my platiunium/grey blonde. It is boring to bleach 2 days but so far it works for me and my hair is okay, not super healthy but it is ok.
@buttarikan59 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I've finally got the process down. LOL. Very similar to what you just mentioned but since I have a very short haircut, it is constantly being buzzed so I don't have to worry too much about damage so I'm happy.

I had about a little less than an inch of regrowth (my natural is about a level 4) and use a hi-lift blonde and 20vol to lift my roots to the desired color (about a level 6). I got lazy and just applied it all to roots and regrowth. It lifted to the color I wanted, but I got about 1 level darker of a slight band on all of it. How would you recommend I go about removing the band? I was thinking of maybe applying the hi-lift to just the band and letting it sit. Does that sound like something that would work? Thanks.
