Loved that car. Never should have sold it. Bought an all black 1987 Mustang GT, fuel injected 302, 5-speed manual, limited slip rear end, did a lot of suspension work on it, lowering it an inch and a half, Bilstein's all around, bigger front and rear anti-sway bars, polyurethane bushings in all suspension joints, and put 3.55s in it. I had a 2014 Stage 3 Roush which I installed a one piece aluminum driveshaft, MGW shifter, BMR suspension in the rear, plus took it to a tuner who went down two pulley sizes and tuned it to make 638hp/ 522tq. The Mustang itself had the Track Pack option. Anyhow, I had the one unicorn manual transmission, never touched it, not even to change to a better clutch! The transmission never gave me a single problem and the MGW shifter made the shifting 100% better. The man who owned it after me put street drag radials on it and was always running it and he didn’t have any transmission issues until he traded for a Corvette.

Should have learned. If you need one rebuilt go to High Gear in TN for it. It's the rebuilder the OEM uses for half the price. Reminds me of our old 1991/92 Ford F350 diesel with the IH motor (I believe it was one of the 7.4L motors). That motor put out far more torque than the transmission could handle and we blew 3 of them. Each time they were replaced under warranty. Of course they gave us something like 60k mile warranties or 5 years on each of them, so it made it to about 200k and we just sold the thing at that point (as it started to rust). But still, we got 3 free transmissions (and this doesn't count the one that came in the vehicle originally, so really, by the time we sold it, it had transmission #4 in it. Of course, by 200k it had other issues (oil leaks, burned oil, etc). But never had an issue with the engine (which obviously outlsted the trasmissions). And this was the pre-powerstroke diesel era so that's when Ford used decent diesel motors in their trucks. Some of the power-strokes were OK, but the IH motors were virtually indestructible as far as I can could tell, as long as you kept oil in them and did regular maintenance.

I got an 08 GT with 30k miles 2 years ago for $14,000. I do not regret this purchase almost 2 years later. It’s been very reliable. I get decent gas mileage in it since i dont thrash it, but the tank is small so even with an avg 19 mpgs, I still gotta fill up twice a week

That’s just how Mustangs communicate with their potential owners

I think "deeds not words" is "acta non verba" I think "opera" is "works" as in "working" . I've always read 'acta non verba'

I'm a camaro and corvette guy but I bought an 07 Mustang GT and the car is absolutely amazing. Can't beat the performance, looks and price when compared to the camaros or Corvettes

I wish I got a 4.6 L mustang
@houseofno4 жыл бұрын
They're all over the place. Ford offered the 4.6 from 1996 until the 2011 model year. If it doesn't necessarily have to be a Mustang, you can also get them in the 1994 to 1997 Thunderbirds and Mercury Cougars. The 4.6 was also offered in the 1992 to 2011 Crown Victoria and Grand Marquis, as well as the 1990 to 2011 Lincoln Town Car.
@Ryno-fp7pm4 жыл бұрын
Why would you want a 4.6? It's a physically large engine that gives you very little displacement. 2V 4.6s are worthless without forced induction. The 4V ones are much better but still no match for a Coyote.

@@houseofno 2011 ford mustang gt was the reintroduction of the 5.0. I own one of the "slow" 2010 mustangs gt with the 4.6 motor. I get pulled over because it looks fast and sounds glorius.

I bought one of these at a car auction not knowing if it was just cosmetic or performance-enhanced or whatever I took it to Palm Springs from the weekend and oh my God it has an incredibly tuned exhaust system a short shift a heavier powerful clutch the engine revving goes way up all around an amazing performance car compared to the stock Mustang I was blown away loved it made a nice profit
