Thanks for the video, I just did what you showed and now my old weedeater and a new one that i got last year to replace the old one will run again. The new one had started the same thing that my old one was doing, bogging down . Now I've got both running good again. Thanks you save me money .

Bought a brand new carb for my weed eater (Craftsman) and it wouldn't start. I come to KZbin and put in Craftsman weed eater wont stay running and voila! FIrst link was yours! I had the adjustment tool in my tuneup/carb kit and didn't even know it! Made adjustment to the low end first and it started right up! After running a minute made adjustment to high end and it runs like it should! Thanks man...I appreciate it!

Thank you!!! I have this exact weed eater and it would idle great but bog down when on the throttle. I bought a set of adjustment screw drivers off Amazon and this was the "double D" as it has 2 flats and 2 rounds on the sides. Mine was 2 full turns out and it was perfect!! On this craftsman, the inner one is the high, and the outer is low, contrary to what another poster said. Thank you again!! Mine runs great now!

I have the same craftsman weedwacker hasn’t ran right since I got it about two years ago. I did your trick with a pen today and thing is running amazing. What a difference. Thank you so much for posting this!

Thanks, Chris this info was a God send!! I've tried changing the gas with "brand new" fresh gas, adjusting the idle, cleaning the air filter, changing the spark plug and anything else I could find that might "fix" the problem of it bogging down and dying on me. I was really starting to think it hated me!! I tried your trick with the pen...tried a hack saw to cut the pen and it did not work, it cut it but changed the size of the hole. Then used a box cutter and HOLY CRAP... It cut it the perfect size and worked like magic. I was able to fit it and turn it and now my 'Craftsman Weedwhacker gas trimmer' works like a dream. I never would've thought to use a pen...lol Funny how they don't want the consumer who bought their product to be able to make minor repairs to it, and if we mark up the products trying to do it ourselves our warranty gets voided. Your way made it so I didn't have to spend money I didn't have, but still fixed it and it does not affect my warranty status. Thank you so much for this video. :)

Chris,You are a pragmatic genius!!! Watched several videos and after wtaching yours I was able to fix my weedeater under 2 minutes before going out and thinking of repairing or buying another. The mark on the screw paid off and making your own adjustment tool with a plactic pen (used a Bic pen and forced it a bit) was pragmatism at it best. Thanks from Montreal and keep making videos on youtube as you have a talent to fix things but most if all to make the complex so simple.

Chris!!! I'm not worthy! OMG...i've struggled with this SOB for TWO YEARS!! And I've watched about 15 videos - some of them extremely well made, and I know the video makers sincerely try to help. I'm not taking anything away from them. BUT...Chris...I've got the EXACT model weedwacker as yours, and I'd tried everything I could think of - new fuel filter, new bulb and lines, cleaned spark plug, higher octane gas, clean carb, clean air filter....you name it. But your advice got me to the Promised Land! How cool is KZbin?? And how cool are excellent contributors like you!?!? Finally....I'm getting full acceleration/rpms from my Craftsman. Thank you!

You can also take the carburetor off and cut grooves with a hack saw.

BTW Harbor Freight sells a kit with 4 different tips, 4 different screwdriver handles. each one has a different configuration to fit the various fuel adjustment screws. So far i haven't run into an adjustment screw that one of the 4 didn't fit. . I did have to modify one of screwdrivers a little, but they work. its worth a try. I think I paid 5 or 6 bucks for the set of 4. i work on these small motors all the time and I learn new tricks from you guys out their in KZbin land! Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

The adjustment screw on the outside is the high and the one closest to the engine is the low or idle. They are marked H. L

Thank you so much for the advice on the high speed set screw. I couldnt use a pen but was able to "punch" a groove into the top of the screw and make an adjustment from there.

That's Craftsman for you,all of the trimmers i owned could be adjusted with a regular flat tip or phillips.

Thanks for the vid. I just took my needle nose and stuck them right in around one adjusting screw at a time and gripped as I twisted little by little. Worked like a charm.
