I've never had wrist pain from using a mouse, but I get serious elbow pain. Using an ergonomic mouse has helped resolve my pain too - so it's not just wrist pain, it may be worth a try if you are having any kind of pain from prolonged use of a standard mouse.

For me I developed elbow and shoulder pain and noticed that it went away after using an ergonomic mouse

It isn't just your wrist that has to rotate but your elbow and shoulder as well. I also get elbow pain first and have had it to the point where I literally could not work anymore without several days of rest.

Great review, I am in a hunt for THE mouse, so far tried more than 10 and none of them is doing the job. I have a big and large hand and there is not that big of choice. Thanks a lot for sharing your experience!

I really like that you have to press a button to wake up the computer... It is frustrating to me that i can sleep my computer and then I would accidently bumb the mouse and it wakes the computer. This is more of a problem for me because I use my mouse in bed and on the couch. Often I don't even touch the mouse, but just movement around the mouse on the couch or bed will wake the computer. So for me a button click is a feature, not a negative.

A good indepth review. I´m beginning to experience the same wrist pain after about 20y. of being a gamer using the standard mouse layout I´m in a wheelchair permanently so keeping my wrists as comfortable and loose is a must for me. I bought a MX Masters 3 from Logitech a few days ago, and instantly noticed a difference with just that small of an angle difference, but it just wasn´t perfect for me. So I just ordered the DACOTA PLATINUM WIRL. VERTICAL MOUSE, which is set to arrive in the next few days, and I can´t wait to see how much of a difference it´s gonna make, because if the small change in angle I got from the Decota mouse made a difference, the almost 90 angle (the handshake angle grip) difference, must provide a huge difference for me (hopefully).

I have 2 vertical mice that I really love. But I had to give them to my son as even the small flexion and extension in my 50 yr old wrist still caused me discomfort. Even with the wrist attachment. So I ended using a trackball now. No more wrist pain. :)

Requiring a mouse press to wake up is probably a battery saver. They might have made it so the button press generates the power needed to wake up. So it doesn't have to poll while being 'asleep'. Which then isn't real sleep anymore.

What helps me is pressing the mouse button with the joint of my thumb,, instead of trying to push every button with the tip of the thumb.

you can also move the scroll wheel to wake up that jelly comb mouse. Personally, that feature doesn't bother me at all. I do like the mouse except that the scroll wheel is wearing out on mine. I'm trying the logitech vertical mouse now. Something about the shape makes it difficult to pick up. So if you are like me... and often pick up and reposition your mouse, it might not be the best option.

Clicking a button to wake it up (instead of just touching the mouse) is useful if you move a lot. Less chance for accidental wakeups when it is inside your backpack. Yes, there is a swich off button, but let be honest, how often do you remember to switch it off?

Using the forward and backwards buttons on the Logitech tips over the mouse because they're too high up and take too much force to actuate.

Hmmm.. a $25 mouse, no complaints ergo that needs a click to wake up. But there's also Logitech's take on the popular "might not be for you" shape, minus a click, plus 75$ without p&p at minimum. It's a tough one. How does one even come up with this? How about that 25$ mouse, but it also comes with an 85$ Master 3s for when stuff needs to be done? Free shipping, of course. Straight from the country of manufacturing! Could you compare this to vertical?

@JayPierstorff
@JayPierstorff 3 жыл бұрын
No, the glossy finish is quite durable. After a year, it still looks like brand new. It does seem to collect a lot of dirt and oils from the hand, so I do rub it down with a little spray cleaner on a cloth every month or two.

Hello again Jay. You being an avid mouse user and regarding the wrist pain: Do you think this new vertical mousepad thing by orb control ~$30 would be something cheap enough but still do the trick while using a regular mouse? I'm curious what you think about it.
@JayPierstorff
@JayPierstorff 2 жыл бұрын
I watched the video and I understand the concept. I guess I would need to try it to see if it would work for me. The thought that I had was it might be more time consuming for operations where you had to let go of the mouse to use the keyboard. It might take longer to grab the mouse and then find a comfortable spot on the board each time.
@notinajaronmars
@notinajaronmars 2 жыл бұрын
True. Yeah it would have to be more task specific, like for tasks that benefit from having one hand on keyboard for shortcuts and one on mouse for pointer intensive tasks like 3d modeling which I do alot. Thanks for your thoughts on it.

Thank you for this review. I had tried Anker vertical mouse couple years ago. The thing for me was that for the click you have to apply horizontal pressure, so when I click the mouse it ends up moving the mouse a little sideways, like a drag instead of a clean click. I don't hear any reviewer talking about this. Did you observe this with any mouse you reviewed? Do you have to apply reverse pressure from thumb when you click?
@JayPierstorff
@JayPierstorff Жыл бұрын
Yes, I think some thumb pressure is required on all vertical mice. (if you don't counter the click with your thumb than the mouse will move when you try to click). That being said, I think the clicks need to be easy to actuate so they don't require much thumb pressure. I like the Evoluent very much but I have also been impressed with the new Logitech Lift vertical mice. amzn.to/3MF8uf9

@@JayPierstorff Thank you for your response. I have been long time user of M331 until I lost it recently in travel. I tried the new M650 and MX masters 3S (which is a good mouse, but a bit awkward and heavy for me), so now I am using little older model M590 which has same comfort as the M331, and works better for me than M650. Sure, I'll give the Lift a try. Thank you again and please do share an affiliate link for the Lift if you have one!

These ergonomic mouses are way too overpriced. I have been using a Logitech M330 for 5 years which costed me 40 dollars and it still works very good and it lasts 2,5 years on one battery with intensive daily use. How can these be almost 3 times as much when they only made the buttons more vertical? I'm sure it's not just the development as these things have been around for a while now...
