This is really refreshing to hear. Thank you. So many gundog trainers advise grabbing and putting pressure on the puppy’s bottom jaw to cause pain and stop it biting, saying they will never stop if you don’t nip it in the bud and will continue to bite as adults. From my experience that’s not true. They simply stop when they stop teething. In my view the nipping gets totally blown out of proportion by some trainers who claim that it’s anything other than a natural stage in their life.

Brilliant information Charlie, thank you so much. I didn’t understand my pup as well as i should have done & feel totally ashamed. If I ever bring another into the family my understanding is so much greater now x

Your a flipping genius Mordor Dogman . Please please can you write a wee programme for the domestic idiot Orc dog owners ( like me ) …. I love how this is a no brainer to you and you are so in tune with natural dog behaviour!

Make sense! Once you take action to prevent/deter your puppy from doing something (like walking away from it), how soon after should you leave it before you go back to your puppy? e.g to continue playing/training

Any thoughts on what age the nighttime crazies calm down? We’ve got an adopted 8 month old pup and currently balancing the training not to bite at “other” times vs the expected crazy times
