I already knew you could play the scale this way. But thinking of it like a saxophone or a singer… made it make sense. It’s like I already had the puzzle pieces, you just made them click into place. Thanks for this 🤘🏻

This is great, I practice scales on each string (I call them linear scale practice) then I go through the "standard" scales (vertical scales). This lesson helps me know how to solo with feeling. Thanks Eddie.

I get the feeling that you've been watching me practice lately. That's been my jam for a few weeks now--fun stuff. Chris Buck-like, and he is a master at it.

Wonderful. Couple of things I notice which allow extending this pattern. The open A minor chord is right there in the second fret notes. The fifth fret A minor chord there as well. So we can move from the scale to chords easily. Also, A minor box one is there at the 5thand 7th frets, and 9th fret on the G string is part of the A minor "house" pattern on the three high strings. So we can move from box 1 to horizontal to "house" slick as a whistle. More at the twelfth fret, too. How about a video which does the same thing for E minor?

i started to learn the 5 major scales pattern, but i don't understand why we have to learn those vertical parttern, when every time i a guitarrits soloing, they are playing horizontally or diagonally.
@zepos2 ай бұрын
the vertical patterns are part of the major scales. If learn all 5 shapes and can play them diagonally easily then you for sure can effortlessly play the vertical pattern anywhere on the scale u want.
