Salam Alaikum, brother. I’m sorry for what happened to you. My advice to you and other tourists is that whenever you visit Afghanistan, go straight to Kabul province, which is the capital. The people of Kabul are much more familiar with tourists and there English is very good and I am pretty sure they will help you if you get stuck in this kind of situation. Even I, as an Afghan, when I used to live in Afghanistan, never traveled to other provinces by myself because I didn’t feel comfortable. The only way I would go to other provinces was if I had at least 5 or 6 people with me and at least one guard. This was because, as soon as I spoke, they could tell I had the modern and capital accent.”

I’m a wester woman that has gone plenty of times to Afghanistan before the US left and after as well, Taliban always treated me nicely and even sometimes i was stopped at the airport and they ask me a lot of questions but never made me feel scared or uncomfortable. The Taliban wanted to run his name and ID to make sure he's up to board and if they had suspicions, detain him pending an investigation. You should also have the papers with you at all times alongside passport and that white card they give you at the airport Hes basically walking away from a police officer asking him to present his required documents Im also surprised he didnt take google translate with Engliah to Pashto or Farsi downloaded to explain to him
